What if an escrow take away with all my bitcoins/money??
See first thier trust rating before using an escrow. We have a lot of escrows here which has the highest trust rating so you will not get scammed. They are legit escrows.
In fact the rating also cannot give you’re the suriety that he/she will not take your bitcoin, therefore the only solution is not to take a big risky try to trust on escrow for a little amount , that cannot harm you too much if he/she takes your bitcoin.
Yeah well, I agree that the ratings or feedbacks usually isn't enough these days but one should also look at the user's actual reputation, contributions to the community, and maybe even interactions with other trusted members. We shouldn't just look at the actual trade histories.
Still, escrow scam are rare and when there's large amounts of coins involved and having escrows is a must, then choose the best. Even if these means paying premium.
Direct to the point and i strongly agree with you. Before you made a transaction reputable escrows is a must as you mentioned earlier we should not fuly rely on trading history but also see its recent activities but in this forum escrow list those person are reputable and trusted enough and we shouldnt be worry about making up transaction to them and avoid as much as possible on unknown persons who offer escrows chance of being scammed is high especially on huge amounts.

There is nothing we can do if the escrow run away, so it is the best to see the reputation of the escrow and then just pray, because there is one time in this forum the escrow ran away with all of the signature campaign fund, there is nothing can be done so the owner and the manager pay the one that join the campaign from their own pocket

Also, try using multisig escrow whenever possible. Many darknet markets have done runners. 2-3 multisig prevents that happening.
Multisig escrow does not make the process any more secure. 2-of-3 multisig escrow requires at least 2 signatures out of the 3. The buyer/seller and the escrow can decide and cheat the other person and hence lose the money. It is also possible for one to conduct a self escrow and multisig would become useless.

They have done that in the past. See Master-p and there is currently an open one even in the scam accusation section. Everyone has the greed to get more coins - even the escrows. nobody is 100% trustworthy and you have to judge on the situation.

The thing is that somebody that you know personally in real life is 100x more reliable than someone you met on the internet not knowing who they are or even where they come from. People like Blazed have amazing trust + theymos has their dox, so they are the most reliable ones in my opinion.

Also, try using multisig escrow whenever possible. Many darknet markets have done runners. 2-3 multisig prevents that happening.

Yeah well, nothing that can be done. It'll just be tagged. You just hope it doesn't happen or you somehow get your funds back.

And anyway, cases of escrows doing an exit scam doesn't happen often(probably less than 10) as they'd put more value on their account, reputation and they'd probably earn more for their services
(Unless it was an insane amount of coins)  Grin

Whatever you do dont let the other person direct you to someone unknown to you.  Do some research here as there are a good bunch of members who have served as escrow for many trades...but in the end there is nothing from someone just up and disappearing with your btc so make sure you are comfortable with the entire transaction terms before you go through with it.  Good luck

Thats it. He/she take your money or btc. You cant do something about it. Thats why trust system is craeted. Because you can determine who is trustworthy and who are not to trust. But even they have a good trust rating doesnt mean they are not gonna do wrong to you. Choose an escrow wisely. Dont trade with huge amount just to make sure its not that painful when he/she runaway your money or btc.

What if an escrow take away with all my bitcoins/money??
Well, you can cry all day but the money or your bitcoin(s) will never return to you unless the escrow regains his/her conscience. But that will never happen if you are choosing the right person you are giving  your btc or money. Its easy to see a good escrow here. They must be hero rank with a green trust which is a good trust rating. The higher the rating the better. But sometimes, large amount of btc or money are tempting and they are tempting to do something wrong. So choose the right escrow.

What if an escrow take away with all my bitcoins/money??

Please; as a member I would want to know if we have someone here that would and has done that.  Assuming you have records/proof of your claim please follow up to protect us all.  I would personally contact our Mod(s) in a PM and present my case.  Once the site knows of a bad actor hopefully they would act appropriately.  If you check there are those here with strong TRUST and recognition of the community.  As mentioned above; their reputation is worth way more than the few BTC you are moving.

Take a look at what master-p did, who was once a reputable member here. https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/master-p-scammer-i-lost-complete-faith-in-this-forum-now-1306301
Mods will not do anything other than tag that user.  What else can they do?

In the end, you choose who you trust.  The more lenient you are, the more likely you are to be scammed.

Definitely a possibility.
However, the goal is to have someone in the middle that is more trustworthy than whoever you are dealing directly with.

They can also help if conflicts arises.

In that case you chose the wrong person to trust. You should chose someone as escrow that has more to lose in reputation that the amount of coins they hold.

btw: Couldnt you have asked the 3 questions about escrow in a single post instead of this?
