@bitserve your experience is not normal. Either you have a defective unit out of the box or there is a problem with the Trezor communicating with your computer. Try using different cables first. Also you should open a help ticket at https://satoshilabs.kayako.com/ and also post your problems at /r/Trezor on Reddit.

Hi!

I am not sure if this is the main Trezor thread or not, but as it is about Trezor I will post here.

Yesterday I received my first Trezor. I've had Ledger Nano S for several months but I was so incredibly happy with the purchase that I decided I also had to try the "original".

I will give it some more time just in case the fail is on my, but I am VERY dissapointed with the purchase when I compare it with my ledger.

First, I don't know if its my unit that is faulty or if all Trezors share the same problem, but the screen refresh is too slow. At first I was noticing some strange feelig when looking at the screen, not sure what was it... just that it feeled uncomfortable. After some tests, and recording on a camera it is obvious that the screen refresh is extremely slow. Is this a problem of my unit or anyone else have noticed the same?

Second, the password manager is the main function I decided to order a Trezor even if I was more than happy with my ledger. But it just plain doesn't work on the few sites I have tried. Well, it does work on some uninportant ones, but the main ones I want it to work have some or another problem:

- Kraken: It just says "Couldn't find login form. Sorry!".
- Poloniex, it seems to find the form fields, but after submit it always says invalid captcha.

Third, I feel like it is way better the method of pin entry of the ledger. ALso it times out too often AND the browser plugin asks again for the pin but the screen just displays the locks and not the pin grid, so I need to disconnect and reconnect the USB. Really?

Fourth, The device itself feels like much cheaper and worse quality than the ledger. I am VERY worried that the screen could be damaged in the pocket alonside coins/keys/etc.... Maybe it's ok, but the overall feel is like if it was a five eur toy or countrfeit from china.

I will keep testing it and its other functions as a wallet but if someone can point me out some solution for my problems (the screen refresh and the password manager) or tell me if my unit is somehow faulty I would very glad.

Thanks!

Can somebody explain why it would not be possible for words to be stolen when recovering from seed? Browser sends where you click on screen but how to be sure Trezor doesnt give up information back to browser? I am beaing a bit paranoid but I am not sure why people trust that this is ok interaction. Why don't you make on device recovery?

There is already on device recovery for Trezor for 3 months now.

I'm still anxiously awaiting trezor 2.  It looks so much fresher than the original with the color screen and the ability to just directly plug into the usb.  Any new news on ETA?  I have come to depend heavily on my trezors..

And I hope its gonna have support built-in wallet support for Monero, Ethereum , Zcash, Dash etc. I would buy it instantly if support for these will be added. There is no eta mentioned anywhere but I'm guessing it will be released by the end of the year.

I wanna save some ETH ETH Token, ETC, and bitcoins on the trezor and put this for 2 or 3 years away.
You think the trezor will work after 3 years?

Hey is it possible to save etc on the trezor?
The Trezor is on a battery or is he recharchebel?
How long one battery will stay alive.

It is USB powered, does not require any battery.

And one last question.
If I loose my 12 word seed but still have my trezor and it gets damaged,
can i recover the phrase from the damaged trezor by reading the seed out of
the trezor directly?

Obviously, NO.

this is propably nothing to worry about but I recently purchased 3 trezor devices, 2 of these had the usual tear to the box because of the strong glue, the third trezor device however the glue cleanly only was left on one side while the other side had no glue or tear marks.
I did use a knife to open these 3 as I know the glue is strong/sticky.

I'm assuming this was either lucky or just bad quality glue and nothing I need to worry about?

https://www.coingecko.com/buzz/trezor-bitcoin-hardware-wallet-review
as in this review 3rd picture has tear visible to the box, on one of my device box there was no tear at all and all of the glue stuck to one side of the box while the other side was completely free from glue / signs of tear.

edit--> as far as I can tell all 3 had the holo sticker in 100% mint condition, plastic wrap, although the plastic wrap had holes in corners on one of the boxes but this is due to shipping I assume.

If the box had no signs of tampering then it should be fine. In case of doubt, you can send the pictures to [email protected] and our Support Team will have a look at it!

does this mean that the Trezor OS and other stuff that makes it all work is written to it the first time I plug it in to PC?

Kinda. The device is shipped without OS, it is loaded when your first initialize it.

mostlikely it's nothing to worry about Smiley , btw when setting up a brand new trezor device it seems at first setup the device is completely wiped?

Well I'm not a tech expert but my impression when plugging in a new unused trezor device was that it was wiped/formatted, I'm assuming it's a safety security procedure.

I have a question about 1st august 2017, If BTC becomes like Ethereum (ETH and ETH-classic), will both bitcoin blockchains be visible on trezor and we can see both BTC wallet balances?
So when sending coins after 1st august we don't loose coins on one of the blockchains using trezor.

Ok, had a little play with my Trezor now. Set up an electrum wallet as well as the My Trezor wallet.  One thing seems to be different on the electrum one.

If I go to the My Trezor wallet it asks for a passphrase. Depending on which one I put (or leave it empty), it takes me to a different wallet. There is no mention of any info before the passphrase screen.

On electrum, on opening the wallet it shows the transactions on one of the wallets on the screen and asks fot the passphrase of THAT wallet. If I put it correctly then fine. If I put another passphrase or leave it empty it doesnt like it.

Surely the wallet should be blank until a passphrase is entered and then depending on which passphrase you enter it gives you the info from that wallet without revealing any info from wallets prior to entering the phrase.

Maybe I just haven't set it up correctly

A little bit of an increase would be taking a screen shotof the pass phrase and storing the image file.  This is the same trick that most social media users use to post whatever words they want without an automatic failuer due to bad words or whatever.  This is much better, but software can also watch for what software is open when a screenshot is made and grab a copy of the image, less common, does happen.

Hey there, I just buyed my Trezor wallet and wanna know if i can store TaaS in it? (I didnt received it yet, coming in the next days).

You can store TaaS in MyEtherWallet using Trezor to manage the private keys.

Best security at the moment, either can the image of the screen using your smartphones and store that file after the website or wallet is closed or just write the damn thing down and take a pic of that or keep the paper. The clipboard can be accessed to grab the data or the in/out stream for typing. Trezor is no doubt the best Bitcoin hardware wallet.

Replace by fee funtionality is provided in the Electrum wallet. If a transaction is stuck because of a low fee, you can click on it and bump the fee up.

Consider how Trezor functions in a different light. Your bitcoin are recorded on the blockchain ledger, a wallet is a GUI for transacting with that ledger and your Trezor holds the private keys to signing transactions. As I recall Trezor did not want to put advanced functions like sweeping private keys into their web wallet which is designed for new users. Electrum is just another way to interface your Trezor with the blockchain and does have the ability to sweep private keys. Many Trezor owners use Electrum with their Trezor rather than the web wallet as it provides features the web wallet does not, like sending bitcoin RBF.

RBF?

1. How do I move coins directly from a paper wallet to the Trezor?

2. Could the My Trezor web wallet ever be hacked without my Trezor?

3. Theoretically could the Trezor firmware be rewritten to be malicious and steal info from the Trezor in some way?

4. If someone gets my public address for one account can they use blockchain analytics to find another account?

5. If I have one account with 1BTC and 1 account with 10BTC and someone tries to force me to access my Trezor with violence is it possible to load up the smaller account without revealing any details about the fact that the other account even exists?

Thanks a lot

All your questions except one are pretty much gone over in the Trezor user manual. If you want to sweep paper wallet private keys to an address managed by your Trezor you will have to use Electrum or Mycelium instead of the Trezor web wallet.

So what you're saying is 1. There is no way to sweep a private key from a cold storage paper wallet onMy Trezor Web Wallet? I would have to use one of the other two. That's a little annoying as I now have to trust them too.

I looked into the user manual and found the answer to 2 and 5. Thanks.

Regarding 3. I found this in the security threats section -
"Reflashing the TREZOR with evil firmware
Official TREZOR firmware is signed by the SatoshiLabs master key. Installing unofficial firmware on the TREZOR is possible, but doing so will wipe the device storage and TREZOR will show a warning every time it starts. Reprogramming the bootloader is impossible because all TREZORs ship with their secure programming fuse blown."

Lets say the evil genius is working for or owns SatoshiLabs. If he had control go he master key is it then possible? This would then make the safety features around the unofficial firmware useless. I've got no idea what a bootloader is or why/how it would be good to do so.

Regarding 4. Is it just standard analytics then? Lets say I have 2 addresses that are on my Trezor. If I send to both from the same address these accounts could potentially be linked.

Thanks again for reading

Hi

Finally got a Trezor after much deliberation.

This thread is enormous and hopefully somebody won't mind answering my questions even though I'm sure they have been asked before.

Currently I use paper wallets to store BTC. I also have a blockchain account with a few bits in it.

How I understand Trezor is that it is a key to unlock the bitcoins stored on My Trezor wallet online. Without the Trezor it is impossible to access them.

Here are a few questions I still have.

You can store TaaS in MyEtherWallet using Trezor to manage the private keys.

They can grab, store and transmit that phrase in the short amount of time that the file is on your PC.  .  Making the file directly on the USB drive is pretty much these days the same as doing it on the PC, but a USB can be stored in case the PC hard drive fails.
