I think having the following warning on the seed card (bolded in red on the same side as the list) would really help reduce phishing attacks (hacked trezor email list for example) and people who are tricked into typing out their seed at fake sites or corrupt software:

Entering the seed words on a computer MUST be done in a random order as picked by the TREZOR hardware to prevent theft. Never allow the computer software (even official looking TREZOR software) to pick the word number and NEVER reveal to the computer what word number you are entering. Using the seed in sequence and/or without a TREZOR weakens the security of the seed and is recommended for experts only.

I think that warning is very important. The only way to get the private keys from a TREZOR are to trick the person into revealing it!!!

No spyware or phishing attempt could get the seed if the user followed that ONE rule! I don't think it would be obvious to most that entering the seed in sequence would be bad.

I also think it would be useful to mention on the front on the card that if a copy is needed for a will or protection from natural disasters that the only safe method to copy it is to write it out by hand.

@ Trezor team: Why are the transaction fees fixed when using mytrezor?

Fiddling with tx fees is an advanced feature and does not belong to myTREZOR which is aimed for regular folks.
Couldn't a feature be implemented into Trezor that allows of making custom transactions? Ex. send from a certain address, use x fee amount. It could just be a quick switch on the main page. For example, in the top right corner there could be a drop-down that would allow selecting of either basic, or advanced mode.

I understand your point but our goal is to make bitcoin secure AND EASY FOR EVERYONE.

Everything could be added but our goal is to keep the bitcoin experience seamless while maintaining highest level of security. Once we add this kind of features the less experienced user will start wondering why his tx didnt go through etc.
This is our goal for myTrezor, not Trezor.
There are other more advanced wallets that can implement Trezor support to the full scale of their options. there is demand so I hope they will soon.

any guide & sources how to flash trezor with the snake game you guys cooked up during the hackathlon?
will you release it with official signatures so that the bootloader won't warn about unofficial firmware?
future plans for gaming on trezor?

Smiley not sure I'll ask our devs.

When I see how many people get excited for the snake
I'm wondering whether we are so childish or so old Smiley

For those who want to run unofficial firmware does the trezor indicate a signature or something on boot so the user can visually make sure it's still the same unofficial firmware every boot up?

Cool idea.

What would be your top 5 Trezor topics (for the short videos) to cover as first?
Perhaps
-how to enter pins
-initialize a new trezor
-basic bitcoin sending/receiving
-restore from seed
-ways passwords can be used for multiple accounts/plausible deniability

I am very impressed with my Trezor!

The device is pretty much perfect!!! The only things I feel are missing:

-some type of community for trezor users similar to community.coinbase.com
(right now the only choices are here and reddit) It would also provide a good resource for developers of trezor firmware and people who just want to help other trezor users learn

The community group would also help for users who are using the trezor on software not made by satoshilabs.

-the documentation for the device seems a little technical. (Perhaps a quick visual guide online instead?) Making a bunch of videos like www.youtube.com/watch?v=9hvLcfJ6DFE and making one for EVERY trezor task would do wonders for people who are not technically inclined!

Overall though, I'm impressed. I will recommend everyone I encounter to buy one.

Thanks!  Smiley

All you are missing is indeed planned or a work in progress already.

Gary and I have just released an updated MultiBit HD beta (0.0.6beta) that is compatible with the Trezor 1.3.0 firmware.

There's a blog article on it here:
https://beta.multibit.org/blog/2015/02/11/multibit-hd-beta-6.html

It's still in beta so only use it with a few millis but I thought this thread would be interested.

I'm real happy the backend upgrades were made, balances have been loading instantly recently, unlike before it was a bit hit and miss.

During restore the words have to be typed on a computer. I know fake words are used in case spyware is around but once I've typed them, it doesn't seem as safe as when the device creates a fresh set. (I'm sure it's still a big search space though)

Would making a list of bip39 words with an associated 4-digit number (perhaps with leading 0's out and repeating digits removed) and using the pin pad screen just type in the seed using the pin pad and numbers? Each word would be 4-clicks on the mouse and the spyware never learns any of the words.

If they randomized the pin pad for each word, this might alleviate your concerns. But words are input in random order so if you use 24 then it would take a while to find the right combo, and if you hardened it with a passphrase would be almost impossible to find the correct wallet.
I think it would be useful to have an input method like this so a restored seed can have the same security as a new one. Randomizing the pad after each word would be handy. The Trezor would have to either come with a table or link to an online list for those who want to enter the words by digit on the pad and not by typing it on their computer.

Randomizing the sequence of each word on input, the word number to enter is displayed on the trezor, basically is the same thing. Don't worry.

is there any chance of a second gen coming out in any reasonable time frame? does that even make sense for this product?
I thought I read somewhere that the Trezor team doesn't plan to release a second version of the Trezor. I can't remember exactly where I read it, but I wouldn't have my hopes up for an updated version.

It was also my understanding that they would be focusing on firmware upgrades.

In case it helps others, I just bought a Trezor from CoinCadence on Amazon.  Very fast shipping and I am impressed with product now that it's working.  But I did have the problem others have mentioned, when I tried to set up the Trezor all I got was "Get started!Connect your TREZOR device to the computer."  On this thread others solved the problem with switching USB cables and not using the one that came with the device.  I went through a number of USB cables and nothing worked, I started to think I had a defective device...but finally I tried one last USB cable and it worked perfect.  If your Trezor has this issue, keep cycling through different USB cables, it might help.  Now mine works fine with its preferred cable.
