How much would i need; Is $30k enough?
"It depends". Is 30k to pay someone to develop you a basic website with basic features? Yes it is.
Is 30k enough to pay a team of people who know how to run a large scale website, optimize it, monitor it 24 hours a day, ...? It is definitely not.

Besides your starting funds you have to keep in mind that the competition on the esports betting market is getting stronger and stronger. Take a look at sportsbet. They are one of the best betting sites out there in my opinion and they offer esports betting, too. This leads to the fact that your site has to offer a unique selling point Sportsbet doesn't have to get players to leave Sportsbet in the favour of your site. This is definitely a tough challenge requiring a lot of money (development costs, advertisement, ...).

You need to have or need to have people working for you that are expert in various things from web designing to marketing. A $30K could be a good price to kickstart the website. If you are not making it a P2P betting, you also need to have a bankroll. And when you have a bankroll, security would be another issue to look for as gambling sites are frequently attacked by hackers.

Esports itself is getting more and more known as time goes by and along with that gambling in esports is getting bigger too. $30k with your bankroll and for advertisements funds I think will be barely enough for starting fund. Just add every single hot esport game and that will be your advantage among other websites.

In order to get some players into your platform, IMO you must consider the following:

  • Number of games and cryptocurrency you accept.
  • Promotions for the new players.
  • Competitive odds.
  • A great customer service that actually replies with queries and messages and not an automated one.
  • Fast deposits and withdrawals.

That's what I usually look for whenever I want to bet on esports. Not a lot of them offer competitive odds and the games that I am looking for. And keep in mind that premier leagues seldom happen in one calendar year for these games, so you must think of this hard enough before you pull the trigger and release those funds for your platform.

Worth or not, you will know after you make that site. But perhaps, I can suggest you make a simple gambling site first with some gambling games, and of course, you can add one or two from the Esport game. You can invite people to try the site, and give them some credit to test the game so they can advise you to add some features.

Perhaps, $30k is not enough to build the gambling site, but if you can make a simple gambling site, I think that would not need too big money. The UI will be one point that you should think because if you have a good UI, the user will be comfortable to stay and play the game.

You can by yourself to stay in one gambling site, and while you stay in that site, you can think what should the gambling site has to fill what your need in that site. So you can add some features to your site.

Oh, you can hire some programmer from the freelance website so that can reduce the cost to build the site.

There are several things that I want to consider when looking at a betting website.
  • I would check the variety of games that I could bet on, whether it’s on CS go, league of legends, Dota 2, etc.
  • The GU I should be responsive and smooth when it comes to using it on mobile or even in a browser.
  • Bonus points on the mobile application because it’s easy to get around everywhere and just see it on your mobile phone the results.
  • Live results can be seen easily like a summary tab or something like that.

I am just a user, not an expert with creating gambling sites or something, but I have listed something that I would like to see on the website. Good luck with your project if you’re going to make one.

You planning to use only cryptocurrency in the eSport betting website?
For me, if you will only allow cryptocurrency, it will be rough. It's kinda there are only few people that into eSports that using cryptocurrency (for me), but if you will add more payments like Dota2 items, CSGO items or any other items in some eSports game could help you.

At the moment, not many esports players are into crypto yet so that would be his main gridlock. And if he includes the bankroll, $30k is a small amount of money. Marketing alone would consume that amount of money. eSports betting is already a multi-billion dollar industry, but if you are a new guy in the block, it would be hard to get bettors on your site. And if you don't have the gaming license, players would think twice about depositing large amount of money. Maybe, the OP should tie up with private investors and find a really good developer for his website that knows this area, so he will not be wasting that $30k money to nothing.

Hello Community,
I would like to develop an esport based betting platform, is it worth it?

Is it worth it? You will just see the result once you progress. ESports industry is getting big year by year but you don't have to just rely on that success. As usual in any type of service or investment, sometimes you will not see any good progress during the early phase.

How much would i need; Is $30k enough?

This is something that we can't assure you. Try to sort out the prices of all the possible expenses. Aside from the usual and basic thing that needs to be done, you have to take note of aggressive and serious marketing of your site as there are already lots of sites offering ESports betting and the competition is really tough for new sites.

On this $30,000, does it include the site's bankroll?

Aside from  having a good functioning website with a great UI, what else do you think the users would like?

Honestly, promotions and welcome bonuses is already common. Gamblers are not really into that as long as they see your site as catchy and interesting.

Prove the legitimacy of the service.

You also need good customer support and not to act as a one-man team.
