their conditions are clear : pay to see ether whitepaper dev'd; i put 8 btc so far and as it's an investment i consider those as lost and i hope they will use them well; and i think a lot of people are doing the same.

Ethereum "scam" would have been a 2 years old scam hosted behind legal entities i mean come on Smiley

Not easy to pull off a project at this scale and ambitions. Seen many projects went vaporware in my career.

I think Vitalik is satanic. He just has that look

Other people were saying that he's just a publicity stunt. That sounds more believable.

Supposedly any BTC the founders put in they get back but keep the Ether.

Wow.  I wonder if investors know this...  What a sham.

You mean if I had sent 100 BTC in then I would get 100 BTC out and also keep 200000 ETH, so a 2x return? We are certainly not doing a deal of that sort.
Additionally, note that we do not "own" the BTC that goes into the ether sale. Those BTC are held by a GmbH (German for "limited liability company") owned by a Swiss non-profit Stiftung (foundation) registered and regulated by the Canton of Zug; it is illegal for us to use those funds for personal benefit (with obvious exceptions like salary).

Ethereum might be the Next Big Thing in altcoins. Over 10,000,000 ETH sold during the first day, which equals to 5000 BTC.
People are crazy about this IPO, they're selling their jewellery and even cars to buy ETH!

Any proof they actually sold that much!?!

Before this thread was up and the coindesk articles came out.. they already had sold like $1 million..  I'm thinking it has to be internal buying / artificial volume.  Supposedly any BTC the founders put in they get back but keep the Ether.

exactly and like a broken record i have asked about that all over and no one has any answer at all about it.

yes the volume is crazy. no IPO is worth that much BTCs

I've followed some of the development discussion and they have a good team actively working on the problems.

I am guessing we are seeing one or several large investors funding further development through guise of this coin.  They had already received millions to start development and probably had agreed to appropriating a certain % of ETH when it was released.  However, additional funding was probably done this way (one would only have to inspect the blockchain) to allow for additional media attention.  Transactions involving millions of dollars is not really news.  However, conducting a transaction of this size via BTC would definitely be news and bring additional awareness of Ethereum to public.

People seeing transactions size and frequency increasing in BTC is good for everyone, especially storage drive manufacturers.
