opportunities for the ethereum to back up again is still great. with the beginning of the month there is a hardfork for the ethereum then this will be a good thing for the ethereum back to second place. It will be a lot of investors starting to harnessing this hardfork opportunity to get lucky. ethereum will benefit from this as well to replace the ripple on the position as before.

This is not final and still changing. I think Ethereum just correcting due the crashing price since the beginning of 2018.
New year 2019 is still not clear for me whether ETH will lead the altcoins market again or not.
But as long many companies use ETH coins and tokens in their company, then ETH value won't drop too much.

More altcoins that used ethereum as a platform will restore again if ethereum rise again. We don't need to hurry about its price rising, just don't participate on FUD could make it easier to climb back again and beat the shit out of the ripple again, that is a centralized coin that for me is just a pest on the coinmarketcap. Don't let ethereum collapse again it already hurts seeing its price like that.

First of all ETH is some kind of queen, not the king
Frankly speaking I think that ripple has huge support and there is a high probability that it will stuck on the second place for a long time.

The flippining will keep happening now between xrp and eth owing to the low volume in the market. Eth will regain its 2nd position due to some positive news like hard fork lined up in this month. after that we may see xrp again in 2nd place.

Yes, the Ethereum started to show its strength one more time. There are only $400 millions difference right now and every new hour the gap is closing. Ripple is also very good and strong coin but the ETH's platform is bigger and everyone needs to use ethereum in their transactions not the ripple.

Personally I believe in the Ethereum more than into the Ripple, and I am sure that to the end of this month Ethereum will get its second position with a large breakaway, because there are lots of good moments in the nearest future.
There's an incoming fork that might bring another hype to this coin, there's speculations and news which investors always looking at, when certain movements coming upon traders and wise investors will buy and hold waiting for another spoke to comes up and bring a huge profits for their investment. I personally believe that Ethereum will take back the second place and the top of the alt coin market once we started to see a bull run next year. There's the fork in January so it's really doable. But my main concerned is that it should be sustainable and investors should pour their money again so that it will gain the confidence and more speculators will purchase Ethereum even more.
We really hope that ETH will be raised in price, because it must be the second project in the cryptocurrency world. Today it is important for the whole microeconomics, but for some reason this does not happen. Need to understand this.

ETH is very strong but still XRP is dominating as the king of alts, there is lot of expectation for ethereum pump as the hard fork might happen in this month so let's wait and see how it goes. If things goes well then I am sure ethereum will regain its position as king of alt coins.

Ethereum positions are still strong. But XRP is developing more actively than ETH. If ETH ceases to stand still, and progress will be shown, it is possible that XRP will be removed from the second position.

I always think that Ethereum is the king of altcoins. Although Ethereum has fallen by more than 80%, I believe that if the bull runs, then Ethereum will be the first crypto to start flying. This is without a doubt.

Doesnt matter what price or market cap Ethereum gains.
As long as its usage is intact then we wont have any problem about the price going up.
One thing I am sure, Ethereum is much used because of ICOs that are still ongoing rather than XRP.
Hell, I dont even know how to use that damn XRP and I am still sticking with bitcoin or Ethereum with my transactions.

Ethereum is indeed much admired by supporters and devotees. I also agree that ethereum is the king of altcoin. And it can't be replaced by other altcoins like waves, Ripple and others. Ethereum now indeed shows that he is the king of altcoin that is very much admired, one of them like me.

We can’t look only at capitalization, we all know that it takes the second place after Bitcoin. Yes, soon after updating the ETH will return to second place.

Not so soon, I guess, because I think ripple won't stay quiet without any counter to defend the position in the market. I think the fans of ripple will moves and will defense or if necessary, ripple will increase the cap higher so ethereum cannot moves and take the ripple places. It's interesting to see the battle between ripple and ethereum and I am curious with the last result in this year. Could ripple stay at the second position or it replace again with ethereum?

Well with upcoming soft upgrade of ethereum 2.0 I think its possible to reclaim the second post on coinmarketcap and many are saying it will lose its stand because of the POS upgrade I think its not that bad and it might get better

a few weeks ago I was also sure that sooner or later ethereum would return to second place. and now we can see ethereum recovering and trying to take over its position again.
