What is the different between the old 14.4 Catalyst drivers and the new 16.12 ?

It seems like they are both the same.

Not sure on that. but i know the 16.3 caused me a whole heap of issues.. Im back to 16.12 now.. Working on some bios mods for my 7970's to up them to 280x's  not sure that ill see any difference but fun to play with:)  Been getting 20 mhs easy from 7970 but wanted to see how far one can be pushed.. Any suggestions from anyone would be much appreciated.

Best Regards

how do i set up a proxy solo mineing ?
was thinking of youseing my digitalocean droplet for that.

solo mineing with prozx so i can connect more GPU's to it

the things i found did help much "might be that i'm stupid" i dont rule that out

Unless you have over 1gigahash I wouldn't recommend solo mining. Use ethpool with qtminer or eth-proxy instead. Setup instructions are on the ethpool website.

There's a few tutorials online on how to set it up.

Watch out though, it isn't very stable and you'll need to have a decent amount of hash to find blocks.

You'll eventually find some, but that'll take some time (depending on your hash rate.)

I would suggest to just connect to a pool. (one that doesn't have more than 50% of the network)

witch version do you all use for mining with AMD cards?

i'm useing ethminer-0.9.41-genoil-1.0.4b3 atm. i got a little bit more on it then with eth_pp_ua-openclminer

anyone know why a 390 does the same hash as a 390x ?
i'm useing Non-WHQL-64Bit-Radeon-Software-Crimson-16.2-Win10-Win8.1-Win7-Feb23
i tried with Non-WHQL-64Bit-Radeon-Software-Crimson-16.3-Win10-Win8.1-Win7-March9
but i slows the mining down to 20MHs tried 15.7.1 to was same as 16.2

anyone tried with AMD-Vulkan-Radeon-Software-Beta-Feb25 ?

Use 15.11
Radeon-Software-Crimson-Edition-15.11.1-Beta-64Bit-Win10-Win8.1-Win7-Nov30.exe that one ?

http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop/previous/detail?os=Windows%208.1%20-%2064&rev=15.11 8.1 64bit
have windows 7

For 7990, there is no difference between Win 7 or Win 8.1.

i can not mine ether with my old 9800gt. i only want to test it. anyone gives me a reference guide for old nvidia cards?

can only say that you need 2Gb ram on your gpu so i think its the 600 series and up
the DAG file is over 1.5Gb atm

by the look of it in my folder it's far less than 1.5 giga, it's actually only 1.1-1.3, i don't know where you see more than 1.5 giga

At present, the size of the two DAG file is 1,359,871kB and 1,368.064 kB. One is used for present, the other is for the future.

Yep, it is only around 1361 MB in the card right now.

I just picked up (4) R7 270 cards and am playing around right now trying to get them to work a little more efficiently, so this post made me think of it again.

BTW, anyone else using these cards and have any tips? I am thinking of volt modding these down a little bit to reduce the power draw. Right now I am getting about 62 MH/s (pool) from all 4 pulling 550 watts from the wall, would like to get under 500 watts, even down to 450 watts if possible.

Anybody know how to modify the voltage in BIOS file for the R9 390 or the R9 Nano series? Difficult to find.

Some folks in the ethereum forum run Nano's, and said they're undervolted by design, and can't be undervolted any more.

I would think most cards show up in afterburner (if you're using windows):
https://gaming.msi.com/features/afterburner

Otherwise there's HawaiiBiosReader (R9 390 supported) which can get you into plenty of trouble (also windows).  Wink

For the 3 GB cards such as 280x, the hash rate reduce with the increase of DAG file. For the 4GB cards, it is fine now.

R7 370 is the AMD sweet spot now for hash to power ratio, close to the leader (GTX970) but at half the price. Apparently all 370's are made with Samsung memory, so no slower Elpida like other AMD models have based on brand. R9 370 (OEM) aren't quite as fast, not sure why.

Picked up a couple MSI R7 370 4GB on sale, will give 'em a whirl when they arrive.

Yeah, I noticed.
It is drawing exactly the same power as my new R9 380X  (150W) and the hash is the same - 20MH/s.
Core/Mem freq are +200 now to 1402/3601.
Maybe there is a coolbit option to enable under/overvolting?

Speaking of which - I am not able to find a way to undervolt my 380X card in Linux...
Gone are the days when you could mod the BIOS with tools like VBE...

You are right, there is some false information floating around on these forums. 20-22MH correctly tuned takes exactly the same wattage on both platforms. Pump up the mem if you want to see where strix really goes, 4000MHz minimum, +20W.

It takes some kind of voodoo to make gpu tuning work in linux imo but when that happens there is a nice reward.

Where I live you can find 390's openbox at ~260€. They overclock & undervolt (well I only have two) really well.

Hi antantti
I guess you are on Windows since you can undervolt your 390s?   If you are in Linux then could you  please share with me how
to do it?

Yep, right now my mining rigs are all windows. Last time I needed to undervolt amd in linux I had to flash bios.

Anyone mining with 750ti cards? Does it work? Or any one mining with 2gb cards?if yes ehat is your card and hashes?!

you need 3 gb gpu at present, don't ever think to use 2gb they will be obsolete in no time if not already, to be safe it's better to have 4giga
the 280x from amd is the cheapest and the best one for ethereum
think you can use 2Gb cards for now. but dont buy new cards with less then 3-4Gb
i'm running my old 660ti and i get 8-9MH/s

Ok. Is it too much asked to wipe out drivers with ddu and install 15.7.1 drivers?

nah i can give it a try for sure.
what do you want me to try after?

Just start mining with default clocks. What does gpuz show in core + mem + mc load?

-edit- test rig found a block again, this is really against all odds. Four blocks in a week, two with single 290 and two with 2 x 390. Lottery it is...

got about the same  as with 16.2
but i got BOD after installing 15.7.1 so i had to reinstall windows that was not so fun but needed to do it anyway

What are your default clocks and what is the hashrate with them? I'm going to try same clocks on my 390, your 390x should do 10% more.

core is 1080
28.3Mhs

So your 390x is not faster than the R9 390. but uses more electricity. I know the 390 is core frequency bound, but the 390x has 10% more cores.
seems that way. Sad
