Google has also been investing heavily in blockchain companies and the ETH merger is also one of the most significant events in the crypto industry that Google cannot ignore. Cryptocurrency today has become an unstoppable thing, it's only a matter of time and google will certainly not pass up the opportunity to be the pioneers in this field.

Google has been doing this thing for a long time though it has been unnoticeable for many of us. Yes, Google has been investing and supporting blockchain so they also value events and updates like this. It's also an advantage because we could easily gain more information about the upcoming update easily by the help of the said platform.

should it happen today or tomorrow . I don't see the countdown time on the front page of Google when I search for the same keyword. hopefully there will be good news from ethereum after the merge is successful we are always waiting for how this best coin can be upgraded for the better and also hope they can fix gas costs that often soar high.
Yes I think you are also right there could be a lot of good news from thorium but it will take a long time for that to come but it will be seen and gone who we have to wait for first.

If this merge is real and happens in addition to the release of Ethereum 2.0, Ethereum will be even more invincible for sure.

More and more companies are supporting more environmentally friendly technologies. So don't be surprised if Google doesn't hesitate to display a countdown on the Google search engine. because of google's actions no one will criticize. but not Ethereum which I read yesterday in collaboration with google. but instead BNB chain is working with google.
the following is an excerpt from the news.
"BNB Chain to collab with Google Cloud to bolster Web3, blockchain startups

BNB Chain ecosystem participants are set to have access to Google Cloud services in a newly formed collaboration."

Sourch : https://ct.com/ayb0

and I warn you that the incoming transactions of ETH coins from personal wallets to exchanges keep popping up in large numbers. so just get ready.

my imagination. there are times when even ETC will fly later. dyor

I'm expecting that the same thing will happen when we're near to the bitcoin halving. That's even giving more hype and excitement if ever google does that.

I am starting to doubt that it will happen. Google has obviously chosen the PoS side and pr for promoting PoW now would be just bad. I am starting to feel more and more that there will be immense pressure against PoW based coins soon.
It's not all about choosing the PoS side or Pow Side. It's all about what they're looking at the crypto market and such events are given that type of projection onto their platform.

But we will see it then, there are too many websites that are only there for the bitcoin halving countdown and they can start that when it's like a month to come and they'll just put the projection when someone searches for it.

Especially against those that consume too much electricity. At this point, i don't mind. I have zero bitcoins left and i don't believe that it can sustain itself against governments.
Okay, I see where you're coming from and maybe that will change when you start holding bitcoin again.

Crypto is getting bigger enough to have these kinds of stuff. I remember back in the day I was having trouble even for a crypto related ad on google, of course that passed long ago and now we have been seeing crypto related ads on google for many years, but when I first started it was a difficult thing and my first ever website got screwed because of it.

These days crypto is much bigger and that is why google cares about it as well, they like it when people could find answers directly from them, look at the sports world for example, you could type in the game and they will tell you when it is or if it’s played what the score is. That’s what google is evolving to, giving you the answers directly by themselves.

Bitcoin is not against governments, governments themselves see it as a threat to their power and they are always looking for ways to eliminate it. I do not deny that bitcoin mining consumes energy and contributes to environmental pollution, but tell me, is there any industry in the world that doesn't consume energy and emit waste, heavy industries, metallurgical industry, manufacturing...Even if you use your computer for work, your phone consumes energy every day. The use of energy is inevitable, as long as it creates value, benefits for the economy, there is nothing wrong.

And that waste is going to be limited too soon. They are already shutting down some advertisement light boards at night in here. Problem here is that PoW could be pointless way to prove anything after PoS takes over the markets.

If there would be a solution to make some real life industry that consumes ton of energy (let's say aeroplanes) to consume only fraction of that energy, it would be soon mandatory to use that solution.

About bitcoin being threat to governments... Not as big of a threat people think. They can easily shut down all cex:es trying to use it if they would want. P2P trading against fiat money after that would be a fraction of the volume. Era of using pseudonymous accounts to shield against regulators is over.

I think POS just take away the whole case of decentralisation. It rather empowers a few powerful ones ..(cut)
Unfortunately I think this is precisely what it is going to happen, there is a reason Satoshi decided to use POW as this was the best way to keep the network decentralized, POS benefits those that have a lot of coins, and what kind of person can hold a lot of coins? The whales, this concentrates the power in just a few people that have the money and which later on can dictate where the network is headed, so while people are excited about the upcoming upgrade I have always thought this is a huge mistake for ethereum.

Since you are agreeing with amishmanish, could you answer how is it making things less decentralized?

I am referring to my point in here -> https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.60919826

PoW was the best idea at the time, ideas have been evolved a lot since. Still, none of your arguments about centralization make any sense to me as they would apply to PoW too.
How are whales any different from rig farms other then they are actually hodling eth and not dumping it?

I think it is automatically added by there search engine just few hours to the event I can’t really wait for the merge, I just hope the merge won’t cause a crash in crypto market, have been hearing different people saying after the merge the market might crash I just hope the merge won’t have effect on the market.

I can't remember them having this even for bitcoin halving. I must have missed it because sure they did. Or they are just hyped to jump cryptos after PoS when public opinion turns favourable against cryptos. Because right now it seems like a lost case to stick with the PoW boat when every country one after another turns against it. You would have to be true crypto-anarchist right now to hold anything but PoS, not that all crypto-anarchists even like PoW
I think POS just take away the whole case of decentralisation. It rather empowers a few powerful ones ..i dont know if there will be higher chances of market manipulation with POS. I just hope that won't happen.

Has anyone already seen this? Seems everyone is excited about the upcoming The Merge event of the Ethereum network.
It's still in the stage of testing the security level, the date they listed is 14/15 September.
But I still find it difficult to understand the language listed in the Ethereum Merge explanation.
Quote
'Eth1' is now the 'execution layer', which handles transactions and execution.
'Eth2' is now the 'consensus layer', which handles proof-of-stake consensus.
When we make a transaction with Eth1, then we will receive Eth2? So that Eth1 will automatically disappear and be replaced with Eth2 by continuing to use the name Ethereum instead of Ethereum 2.

About google, they've became a validator for the ron network from Sky Mavis. So, this is a good sign that google is giving that way of monitoring the market from events like the merge for Ethereum.

I'm expecting that the same thing will happen when we're near to the bitcoin halving. That's even giving more hype and excitement if ever google does that.

Well, these big tech companies are already in and showing that they're no longer ignoring the crypto market and the updates that happens within it.

I wish they will have the same treatment with Bitcoin when the halving is near.
That's big for Ethereum and I guess for Google too. Win-win situation here.
As the support for the Ethereum Merge is rising, and so does if Google is invested in it which I highly guess they are.
Them and Goldman Sachs are the ones who are active before investing in new blockchain technologies and it might be continuously happening even with all the dumps and pumps, attacks, and FUD. This is free advertising for them.

This is a move that shows the support of cryptocurrency from google. I remember in 2018 google and big companies like facebook banned every single advertisement related to crypto because of the risks that crypto poses. And now we are at another important milestone, traditional companies not only openly support cryptocurrencies but nowadays, they are also investing in cryptocurrencies in large quantities. If I remember correctly, google leads in the race for blockchain startups with the amount of up to 1.56 billion USD.
I'm sure the bitcoin halving event will get more attention, they definitely won't be able to ignore it.

It seems that this was not added by Google but is already there automatically in the Google search engine, because the news of this merger has been circulating in the media and is very much talked about. This merger event greatly affected the market and many people are worried about the assets they own and they are always looking for more information about this news.

i think they do this based on interest from the search result. Not so long ago, I saw somewhere that "Ethereum Merge" was one of the trending search on Google. It's similar to how they displace a snippet when you search "Bitcoin price" since there is high interest in Bitcoin price search.

Yeah! because they don't lose anything to do this, they just rather give some hype to the current trend to make it feel lively because as we know everyone is waiting for the merge what could be the possible result of it? most likely it's gonna be positive for this move by Ethereum has been planned and reviewed a lot before they finally approved it. Once again we are witnessing history right here and it feels great to be one of the spectators waiting for what will gonna happen to ETH this year.

yesterday I searched with that keyword but didn't see it and got what you show in this thread, is it possible I haven't updated my browser, I just saw it now from your thread live, I'll try it again later, hey is that a countdown time that true for ethereum merge
I just tried it right now and see the exact countdown, maybe you are outdated and needs to update your browser.
Well, that is the site of Ethereum where we can see the live countdown and it's very exciting to see the result of this. Google is riding the trend as well, once there's a traffic and many shows interest into a specific topic, probably they will put it on top but maybe this is just a random pick which I don't see any direct relation for this upcoming update.
I haven't seen it either, it looks like there really is a problem with my browser or maybe there is a typing error in the keywords or only for certain countries, but I've found other alternatives from other websites
