The switch to Proof-of-Stake is a very important move for Ethereum, This is a significant change for Ethereum, as the current proof-of-work system underpins their entire ecosystem. If the transition is successful, They are closer to a more decentralized Ethereum where many validators will be able to participate.  ETH will likely switch to PoS in Q3 2022 or later. This year might be too early and it may also increase the risk of a blockchain split, so unlikely to see it happening this quarter.

I am not sure that this will happen in the third quarter of this year, the developers will find some kind of mistake and will continue to refine it for a long time, in the best ways.I also understand all the pain of Ethereum miners, because this is the most profitable coin today.

Indeed man, what about the miners ? I feel sorry for the miners who bought ASIC devices for mining Ethereum.
If this will really happening in the future, i guess the mining hash rate of coin with Ethash mining algorithm will rising because many ETH miners will going to mine it with their ASICs.

I guess its due to the fact that people have expected a lot when we've first heard about the transition. So it's better if they are always like that which they don't give accurate timeline when it will be exactly going to happen. The best thing to do right now is if it will literally going to be on that quarter.
It is not really about having the same type of situation when you know it will be Q3 or not. I mean if it is q3, then we could arrange it accordingly, if it is not Q3 then we could arrange our portfolio accordingly. I have increased my btc and eth holdings a lot in the past 3 months, over all the other altcoins, only because I believe that btc will be the first one to go up on the next bull cycle and ETH will be going up when the PoS happens.

This is a very important breaking point in crypto, if ETH could turn into PoS and have low gas fee, that will mean that many projects will be finally getting the attention it deserves but lacked due to gas fee.

At this point why is anyone waiting for ETH 2.0 when better L1's like ICP and NEAR exist? ICP isn't even a copy cat L1 like Polygon, you can host websites on it. Ethereum can't keep up with the technological achievements of other chains.

I share your opinion. How long has the launch of PoS been delayed? It will be postponed again. Actually, I saw a PoS Ethereum review somewhere and there it was said that considering all Buterin's previous statements, as well as already published developments, PoS transition should be expected not earlier than the middle of 2023. Unfortunately, I can't find the source of this research.

The speculative part of the statement that it is not worth investing in mining equipment is also alarming. If they don't launch PoS this year, it will be extremely unprofitable to follow such advice.

This sounds more like the Ethereum team that I know, PoS is coming have turned into a joke from the ETH team and devs, I think it's better to leave the Ethereum network the way it is because the Proof of stake algorithm will give birth to new issues as well.
For the development of the ecosystem, it is necessary to meet modern environmental requirements. Ethereum mining, according to various data from the Internet, requires 1000 kilowatts per 1 coin at the end of 2020, but I think that now it is much more. So the new algorithm will still be implemented.

Good thing that they dont really give out any assurance or guarantees on specific date for them to go to PoS but at least we do have already some hit that it would happen for this year even thought it wont still be 100% sure but at least we are already heading there.
Yes. Don't make surprises while it's on-live. It's better to be at perfect condition before they release the Kraken.  Cheesy
According to OP's shared tweet it's near and that's a good thing. Maybe an expectation to release it before the end of the year is what they are saying and just don't want to cause any panic by putting an exact date.
I am still not sure what the effect will be when it happens so I will just brace myself to whatever I could handle. Hoping it will be in a good way.

Ethereum may switch to PoS as early as Q3 this year. The source of this assertion is a post by an Ethereum developer on Twitter:

It won't be June, but likely in the few months after. No firm date yet, but we're definitely in the final chapter of PoW on Ethereum

I wonder if this prediction will turn out to be correct or if there will be new difficulties and PoS will be postponed again. This time, though, the developers are determined, Tim Beiko even recommends not investing in new ETH mining equipment anytime soon. Will PoS be launched this year after all?

Too bad it will come to an end (eth mining), I have been fond of mining eth since 2017 and aside from getting profits it has been my hobby for the rest of these years. I guess it is time to say goodbye to my cards, what ever the decisions maybe, we should respect those and accept it fully.

What issues? If this is the way to determine the total supply of ethereum and why not? POW was not a conservative energy and there's no something wrong with it. In my opinion if the developer of ethereum blockchain has known so well about what will be the benefit from ethereum moving to the POS and they did know as well about the problem that may be faced by ethereum blockchain like i.e the decentralized become less as it's not yet supported by the miners again.
I think that if this is the correct point about that.

as long as ethereum has not provided an exact date, I doubt the launch of POS this year. this has happened time and time again, there is always a snag at the end and the result is another delay. I'm not expecting much this time, the beiko team only said that POS was this year, but he didn't say exactly when it would launch. so that means the POS is still not 100% completely ready at this point.

timbeiko just said this year, it could just be the end of the year POS will be launched instead of in Q3. if there is a problem there may be another delay, but I hope there are no problems considering this has been in development for years. so it could be as he said POS was released this year.

Hopefully, it will.
That's what everyone is waiting for and despite the estimation of when it will be deployed, still, it's unsure and they're not giving promises anymore because of what has happened before.
Well, let's just see if by q3 of this year they'll really be at the end phase of PoW and it's now about to be PoS soon. One thing for sure then that the price of ETH will be impacted if it happens.
Good thing that they dont really give out any assurance or guarantees on specific date for them to go to PoS but at least we do have already some hit that it would happen for this year even thought it wont still be 100% sure but at least we are already heading there.

We are all waiting for such changes and updates which would really make things even more better for ETH.Price impact? It would really be just common sense.
Its not bad to baghold right now.

Two things; they'll mine another altcoin or they'll sell their rigs.

It is another hype news for Ethereum but with history of postpone for Ethereum PoS, I don't believe in statement or sneak peek of Ethereum developers or Vitalik's. It's good to know of such news but I will keep my mind neutral and wait for real activation of PoS for Ethereum.

Meanwhile, the market usually responses very positively with such news. If I already have Ethereum, I will wait for such sneak peek to take profit. If I did not own Ethereum, I will not buy it because I won't let myself falling into FOMO.

Ethereum is a very good altcoin for long term investment. In cryptocurrency market, I only see Bitcoin, Ethereum and BNB as best and safest cryptocurrency to invest in.

There is more to this Twitter tweet than we know, it looks like this ETH merge is plagued with many problems and it's not going to get ready any time sooner, Q3 might be too early for the Merge, anyway, now miners have some more time to make back their ROI before the final phase.

Im wondering why they keep plunging the date, where it could also be delayed actually. Well if thats the case then a lot of people gonna speculate with it. For sure there are many changes on the system and ethereum might go to path where people could be investing more or shift to a new coin that will served as the new ethereum.  But surely the one happening probably is the first Ive mentioned. People love a good hype and profits from it.

In a way, if this happens, it can lead to two paths: The true path of adoption or the path of distrust. Changing a "blockchain" can be considered as daring when it comes to the second strongest project in the world. So millions of people will be involved in this process where their value will be added with the POS. On the other hand Vitalik and its developers know what they are doing and we must also remember the energetic cost.

A very interesting topic to ponder.

I see Ethereum switch to POS and I go  Roll Eyes I'm done speculating on when it will finally come.

In relation to the switch, heard/read about theory on floor price? It is said that the floor price is close to or just above the cost of mining. This is mostly raised in BTC price discussions but it can be interesting to see how it will work on ETH.  Many say that the cost of staking is less than mining and since Ethereum will change algo, I wonder if price will also tank Huh
