This is my opinion..

BTC  brought millions of users to the crypto market and (still doing) all of those are believed in BTC.
Popularity wise BTC has a clear win ( I have seen very newbies in the field who doesn't know Ethrerum while Everyone knows BTC).
However "Bitcoin has hit a log jam on its network as available blocks fill up with transactions quicker than they can be mined. This backlog has led to higher transaction fees and longer waiting times".
The reason people are moving from fiat currency to cryptocurrency is banking fees and  very slow transactions related to centralized currency.
Sadly BTC is picking up those bad things.(So people will think, why we should use BTC???We can use fiat currency instead which have more fluidity)
BTC will never reach to its unlimited potential unless it is integrated in to the businesses. That will never happen if transaction fee and time keeps of BTC keeps going up.
So people will definitely use alternative block chains which are more faster and less costly..  The obvious choice is Ethereum.. 

Ethereum is a very very innovative idea and it grows every time a ICO is popping up..(ICO's and Ethreum based tokens are everywhere now).
Eth is faster than BTC, transaction fees are lower for now  (Gas price is increasing too ) and mainly it is a whole new universe to create new coins.
So Ethereum has very clear advantages  over BTC .
As all we know ETh grows more than BTC in last year (Percentage wise).

So Eth will overtake  BTC one day (I think it is obvious) but definitely not with in next 5 years.

Oh we shouldn't forget...new  potential players are coming in to the field, like NEO  

I do not think for me bitcoin is the beginning of altcoin and I think for dethrone bitcoin is impossible although I know that ethereum has great potential

I think it's too early for eterium to rise to 1st place this year, although in the case of eterium technology has advanced further but its popularity is still far behind with BItcoin, probably because the price is too far so many people still believe in Bitcoin instead of eterium.

I believe this will happen because ETH is the best choice for investors and they have a professional development team to build their ecosystem better For me the most important reason to ETH get the good price as today is due to ICO as this is a new trend in the world.

I think we may consider Ethereum as the new king of crypto if it already reach what bitcoin has reach but Ethereum is still far behind from bitcoin so it cannot be. But it is much better to say that Ethereum is the leader of all altcoins since it is the most popular among alts and has the potential to increase in value.

ETH is now supported not only by the usual users, but also by large corporations such as Accenture, Microsoft, Toyota, Intel and JPMorgan Chase.
These companies become part of the planned world-wide computer network Ethereum (for which the Ether is needed). Moreover, Ethereum draws attention through users of crypt currency, 94% of which are positive about the alternative Bitcoin. 

Definitely yes etherium is going to be the king of crypto world because of it's unique features:-
1)crypto fuel to run icos and erc20 tokens
2) smart contracts
3) artificial intelligence
4)less transaction fees
5)can tackle scalability issues and fast transaction
6) already been used by many multi national companies in their ecosystem
7)hybrid network and soon going to become proof of stake coin instead of mining which will literally eliminate fees for transfer

Ethereum is certainly an exceptional platform that has enormous potential. Not if this year will exceed Bitcoin, but in the next few years it could become the absolute leader in the cryptocurrency sector

I am also  a fan of Ethereum but I believe it cannot dethrone Bitcoin because it is the first successful cryptocurrency and the community or investors of bitcoin will not allow it and they will also fight back. Even if Ethereum could steal the throne, it is hard for Ethereum to maintain it.

I don't think ethereum will dethrone bitcoin in this year.it can't be.though ethereum is doing well when other cryptocurrencies are not doing well.it will make ethereum more stable and raise its position in crypto world.on the other hand bitcoin is loosing its price but it has a huge market demand. fall in price due to the tension among the users will not continue. bitcoin will comeback so it is not easy to dethrone bitcoin.if this situation doesnot improve ethereum can dethrone bitcoin but it needs time,so it is not possible for ethereum to gain first position in this year.but anytime anything can be changed.

Ethereum will never be the king of the cryptocurrencies because ethereum is still not matured enough to take over all the market that we have because bitcoin is still here and as we can see that the rest of the cryptocurrencies are really following the movement of bitcoin and not ethereum so ethereum will never become the new king of crypto.

It still seems far fetched to me if what you mean by king is ETH overthrowing BTC. The market cap of BTC is $153,555,838,225 which is still way far from ETH 's $92,527,130,494. ETH is actually being used right now parallel to BTC due to its  stability but replacing BTC is still a far possibility for ETH.

Perhaps for the word king of crypto, it seems a bit excessive, although ETHEREUM prices have not changed significantly, but BTC remains the benchmark of many coins and tokens

I believe for ethereum to be the best potential successor for bitcoin though I am still open to change if ever another altcoins managed to change these trends as long as I don't see any other altcoins reacher top 1 or 2 in the cryptocurrency rank then I will continue to bet on eth and btc for my choice of investments.

I think Ethereum will be the most powerful part of your future. because ethereum is a complete artwork. responds to the needs of mankind.

It might replace bitcoin's dominance in the market if bitcoin is going to collapse surely ethereum will take its place thats why i am holding more ethereum than bitcoin because it has stable price movements than bitcoin from the past 6months.

i don't think Ethreum will dethrone bitcoin.. the best of ethereum can't be dethrone bitcoin because bitcoin high volume in the market and it mean so a lof people interest in bitcoin than ethereum, it make the price of bitcoin always good than ethereum

I have not invested in etherum yet but a friend told me that a lot of people are trading ETH pairs now, since it's easier/cheaper to transfer ETH between exchanges. No reason to convert back to BTC to trade, unless you're on a podunk exchange like Cryptopia. But to me, etherum is not the king yet but its just making wave.

Because a lot of people converted to ETH instead of BTC from alts when the market is going down. ETH goes down when they back on alts right? ETH has possibilty to bypass bitcoin but not right now.

ethereum is shaping up as a more stable network with a lot of versatility and uses, it is known that bitcoin is the leader per capitalization issue every day is even closer to being the leader and that is being seen in these moments of correction
