‘Referee has a rubbish bin where his heart should be,’ says Gianluigi Buffon
Well I couldn't have thought of a better insult for the referee than that line lol  Grin
Man, he went full rage mode against Michael Oliver in the post-match interview, I read today that even Del Piero was shocked to see Buffon talking and acting like that. But I think Gianluigi knew this was his last CL game so he didn't care about a possible punishment from the Uefa for his statements, unlike Chiellini who made a gesture towards the RM players that can be interpreted as "You paid the ref", so I think it's possible that he'll face some sort of sanction.

I am not a fan of Juventus but apparently the referee had a romantic meeting after the game so he couldn't afford 30 more minutes to go to extra time and gave an inexistent penalty for Real Madrid. Anyway for tonight games all are beautiful with 3 of the games being open except Arsenal which I think it is already qualified.

Real Madrid didn’t impress me, lucky to get through. Anybody can win this out of the 4 remaining teams. There’s no clear favourite.
Damn i can't believe this was going to happen again first roma shockingly making a comeback and today when.juventus almost had it but like every year madrid has sold out refs and ronaldo scoring the penalty and securing the win. Bayern match could also have been a blowout but a score of 0-0 wasn't settling at all but as long as they were able to qualify it didn't matter
This was one of the bizarre champions league matches I have ever seen, Liverpool qualifies despite being underdogs City who're unbeatable have sufffered loss after loss. Barcelona had a déjà vu of some kind and it's really strange and beyond reasonable explanation that they're out. Juventus scripts the best comeback and hey wait it's Madrid you can't beat them, they're infused with vitamin M lol. These matches need answers, i can't believe these results.
Real Madrid always seem to wait to make it a thriller killer match in the Uefa Championship semi-finals.
Didn't they win last year on penalties?
Yesterdays match could of went that way if Buffon didn't get thrown out of the game for barking at the referee and then putting his hands on him.
The way he was playing I wouldn't have doubted he could of saved that Ronaldo kick from going in at the end of it from adrenaline kicking in and being on a roll like that.
It has been a bizzare Championship from Roma kicking out Barcelona to Liverpool not kneeing to the soon to be crowned champions of the Premier league to this defeat of all defeats with just one goal to three. Also nobody talking about Bayern Munich yesterday because it was a snoozefest with them not scoring one goal.

I mean, there's that club that has won 2 Champions League in a row (3 in the last for years), and they have the CL all-time top scorer in excellent form (first time a player has scored in 10 consecutive CL games), and there's also a german team that low-key has been solid throughout the CL. I think we have two big favorites.

Then again, the quarter finals were absolutely crazy, so we could see the same thing in the semis...and we might get the '84 European Cup final once again (Roma vs Liverpool)  Shocked

I was all for Juve yesterday, I even think it was not a penalty

Me too, I placed a bet on Juve to win with odd more than 5 which is very nice profit. As a gambler I do really love to win this, but in case of soccer lover I do not really like to see the end of the match.

although there will three possible foul elements - kick in the body,

As per my opinion, Benatia did not kick the body. He did kick the ball, probably because of the referee was not on front of them.

pushing from behind and a hand on the shoulder,

I did not any efforts from Benatia to do so, For me it was a little trick from Vazquez. Smart move on the last minute by Vazquez IMO, although there was no big contact between him and Benatia. Even if he did not do it, I think it was still very great chance to make a goal but he did it smarter to make a 99% goal chance with a penalty.

however, Juventus crying over bad refereeing is a little bit prudish thing......

It is normal especially it was happened in the last minute and made the situation turn 180°. I'm sure Real Madrid or any other teams will do the same as what Juventus did.

Overall, my respect to Juventus on what they did last night.

Meh.
I've been out of this thread over the last couple of days but holy hell, that turn around by Roma was so unexpected for me and I would of never thought Barcelona would lose in the way they did. This makes for some interesting Semis now although I have my ideas of who will eventually take this one. Too bad Juve couldn't pressure enough to get that OT against Real but that's just how it goes I guess..

I'm super excited about Liverpool and the fact they were able to win the matchup in such a convincing fashion. Bayern are just.. Bayern I guess, I still think they have some ways to go before being able to compete for the title in the end, especially against an opponent like Real. We'll see what happens I guess Cheesy.

I didn't place any bets for the 2nd leg as I usually prefer to only do the first one where everything is on the line while in the 2nd leg the teams in the lead tend to try and play to keep that lead rather than increasing it. Hope some of you made some dosh from those games though!

iam not believe real madrid vs juventus match
in injury time, buffon sent off and pinalty kick
very imposible, only barcelona can receive same real madrid

It's more like a drama for me. To make the Champions League more entertained. It felt that Juventus had a chance to beat Madrid and qualify to the next round but at the end of the game, something strange happened. Which is beyond my expectation. It's a lol for me!

The victory of Real Madrid is really crazy and not a pure win in my opinion and I think everyone judges in that game, actually the referee should consider a penalty decision to benefit Real Madrid and I think it is not fatal but the referee without hesitation to punish the last game to Real Madrid and Buffon are given a red card which should be a natural thing to challenge the referee's decision as Buffon is the team captain, How to play a superb Juventus and must deserve to win the game. I do not understand with the referee's decision and it is very unnatural that the referee should let the game end and determine a reasonable victory.

I feel sorry for Juventus. Their 90-minute struggle to equalize the score is a remarkable thing, but it's all meaningless only because of a goal in minute 97. I respect their struggle, giving the real meaning of football. Pity as well as respectful for the buffon, it's probably his last game in the Champions League.

Slava Ukraini!
Referee ruined this amazing match. I think it wasn't clear penalty. It was very questionable decision to call such penalty on last seconds of additional time. And red card to Buffon - well, Gigi overreacted but I think we can understand him.
Last year year reached semifinal after Ronaldo scored from offside against Bayern, this year we have questionable penalty... I don't that I need to say something more about it.

I can't agree with you. I hate to say, but Real are clear favourite now, despite that they didn't played impressive tonight.
After Barca was eliminated, now I hope that Liverpool will Champions league, I love to watch how they are playing this year.

Today wasn't my lucky day  Cry

What a sad way to go for Buffon (this was probably his last CL game)...the guy looked so devastated (and really angry) at the end, but tbh he shouldn't have done that to the reff, screaming right at his face like that will get you a red card, he should've known that but I guess the adrenaline kicked in after the pen call, a clear penalty btw, good call from Oliver.
He shouldn't of pushed the referee with his shoulder as you can see him look behind him and that is what triggered him to start to question which card to pull.
And then again he pushed him with his arm and that is a red.
The foul was absolute since he had his whole leg infront of the Madrid player and it was right infront of the net.
If he didn't it would of been a goal anyways being in two feet at the goal line and Buffon not being set. Undecided

It's really been an entertaining quarter finals both yesterday and today, and of course, the referees right in the thick of the action. For me yesterdays game, I think the ref wrongly ruled Leroy Sane's goal offside and Pep had every right to be furious. If i was 2-0 at half time, we would have a had an even more entertaining game at the Etihad. As for Roma, I have nothing but sheer and utter respect to them, they deserve to be in the finals one way or the other, at least for the underdog story. We all do love such stories. Today, it would appear that another Italian team wanted to do the impossible against another Spanish giant, but again the ref had a say. Mike Oliver is never a good ref, even in the EPL he messes up a lot, how he manages to ref BIG games is a wonder, this just shows the lack of quality refs out there. That being said kudos to Juve for giving us a another night of entertaining football two days in a row. And condolences to Buffon, I guess this European title will still elude him .

What a match Real Madrid versus Juventus was. Without doubt it was a clear foul and a great decision by the referee to give the penalty. For a moment with all those distractions on Cristiano Ronaldo I truly thought that he was going to miss it, but he proved me wrong, it was a great penalty, straight in the top right corner. Sad to see Buffon finish his Champions League like that with a red card, a win and not go though the next round, but he did his part while he was still in the game, no ifs and buts went in on the referee like a captain should. I kinda wanted extra time, just for entertainment purposes, lol.
