Miner Setup And Reviews. WASP Rep.
This massive jump to 149M difficulty...is deeply worrying.

Any updates on the Cgminer compatibility?

When is the next Group buy going to start?
Ckolivas is putting the final touches on drivers etc for cgminer. Should be released soon.

Stinky_Pete & Zammo - I think you are being a little harsh on qukkm with your responses. When the asicminers first went on ebay they sold for a very good profit - well exceeding their cost (given the fact that some brave people took the gamble and put their trust in the likes of OC to not get scammed - even while there were 300 BTC GB scams going on at the time - and acknowledgement to the UK's very own OutCast3k for showing the rest how to do it).

On ebay right now I think these new fury miners are being sold at a 'reasonable' profit (20 quid per unit - bound to drop to 15,10,5 then none like the asicminers).

I think qukkm wants the 'race to the bottom' to be a bit slower - but inevitably we'll get there. Bottom line for me is by all means sell 'em on ebay if you can - but be willing to keep them and mine with them if they wont/dont sell. If your only goal is to make ebay profit then your window is as tight as a gnatt's chuff Smiley

I think everyone has to understand this.
As the trend as always been you will never get roi on your minin equipment.
Example of this would be asic block erupters and blades.
So it's just about mining now and keeping hold of your coins until the price of bitcoins
Goes up.

I am not sure why you feel you have the right to dictate a price, that suits you, for the whole community. The market will find it's own price, we don't need a cabal to set a price.

ok 2 reponses

Zammo - these units are 0.85btc which is about £75. At £110, after fees I make about £20 a unit. I dont want to rip anyone off here as i want them to be repeat customers. I dont want to be like BFL and sell them something that will never ROI. I see this as my way of spreading bitcoin and decentralising the network. Perhaps you would prefer to price gouge but i dont want to do that.

Stinky Pete - what I said above, we are not ripping people off. I charge a bit on top of the price I pay for that the buyer gets support which is required for newbies. If you have run some block erupters you will know that getting them up an running was not a simple process. Most of my buyers are very new to mining and are not massively adept at using PCs. My buyers want to pay with paypal, I offer discounts for bitcoin but even when i point them in the direction of localbitcoins or btc-e they prefer to use paypal because it is quicker and easier for them. Paypal can do chargebacks, I have had some scammers on the block erupters already i dont think these will be any different. Outcast gets paid in bitcoin, he has no concerns with chargebacks or scamming buyers so he doesnt need to price that in. In addition I am taking the risk on these units as pre-orders, if they dont show I can refund my buyers via paypal but what happens with outcast (not that i dount him) would be based on his professionalism, he has not contractual relationship to refund us if the pre-orders are a no show.

Ebay is an auction site but these are not auctions. I am not seeking to fix the price to screw buyers I want to set a price that works out fair to everyone. With the block erupters the price from ASIC MINER was dropping every week and anyone that bought them was in danger of ending up with overpriced hardware (I bought 10 @ 2BTC!!) the result was the price hammered down to under £20 in a few weeks. Outcast sells them for £13 now, after ebay fees, paypal and postage there is £2 left for profit. The end result will be none for sale on ebay and no cheap, easy access for newbies to bitcoin. Every new miner is a new user, every new user builds the bitcoin economy. Now as a miner that means more competition but as a bitcoin holder it means greater value. Happy to carry on this convo on PM if you prefer, dont want to fill outcasts thread up but I felt these needed a response.

So I see a lot of people are listing pre-orders for sale on eBay. I have been trying to email everyone about the prices. Right now we have a general price of £110 and £6.22 for postage. Total cost is £116.22. This means that we are all making a bit after ebay and paypal fees.

Now once they are in hand I suggest the price be raised to £125 per unit. These are the best value miners immediately available, beating out ASICMiner blades in terms of power usage and £/Ghash so I think they will easily sell at that price. They still work out cheaper than 7 ASICMINER USBs which would give a comparable hash rate but 7 x the power usage.

I don't see too many of these group buys so the market is not going to get saturated as quickly as they did with the block erupters, as most will know the profit margins on them these days are so slim it is hardly worth the effort to sell them. I don't want to see the blue Fury go the same way.

Happy to discuss these prices. What does everyone think?

Frankly, I think this is an outrage. eBay is supposed to be an auction site, and you seem to be operating a price-fixing cartel to protect your business. I am tempted to put up a listing pointing prospective buyers to this thread.  Angry
