And here comes that news...

Curacao license granted, September launch date confirmed, and liquidity on its way  Wink

A nice update you do have on here.Is there any tentative or project date for sites launch? I do see its still showing some email subscription input.

We're with you in seeing the current blockchain/crypto space as consisting in a series of trade-offs. Depending on what a particular user wants, KYC could be either a useful or completely inappropriate part of a crypto product offering. Coinbase, Kraken, Tether (to name just a few) have all used KYC processes at various times. And now we even see BitMEX (famed for zero KYC previously) introducing KYC, apparently at the behest of many larger volume users.
+1 to this which you do actually had the point but people do still support even though they had implemented out some changes.

I am not a big fan of doing KYC in crypto-related things, but if Exbet offers a Betfair-like experience (volume, trading software, inplay), then I am willing to do it.

Hi tyKiwanuka!

We're comfortable with how we are implementing KYC in Exbet, and we think we have hit on a really good solution such that most recreational and pro users will experience a very light-touch KYC process. Will be interesting to hear feedback once we launch. More on that very soon!

@exbet will there be something similar to fairbot, geekstoy which has betfair?

Hi mirq20

Good question. At launch, Exbet won't have integration with a third party like Fairbot, Geeks or BetAngel. That will be something we focus on once initial launch has passed smoothly.

As tyKiwanuka points out above, the Exbet API has been built to more easily allow integration with third party trading tools, so we have been thinking ahead on this front.

Is being licensed and requiring KYC considered a good thing in the blockchain space?

I think you should let every individual decide that for themselves, there is always a trade-off with everything. You came here a few times trying to discredit Exbet and/or shilling your exchange, which is a bit meh as well. Just let Exbet do their thing and you do your thing - and then the bettors can decide which site they like better. Nobody is forced to play at certain places.

I am not a big fan of doing KYC in crypto-related things, but if Exbet offers a Betfair-like experience (volume, trading software, inplay), then I am willing to do it.

@exbet will there be something similar to fairbot, geekstoy which has betfair?

At least there is the possibility for it as confirmed here:

Exactly, the Exbet API will allow integration with off-the-shelf trading tools like Geeks Toy or Bet Angel, or with bespoke private trading tools.

I think much better than exchanges like degens, maybe instead of ironically advertising your vile exchange on this topic, don't waste your time and start improving it

seriously tho we saw the api update, much better with pagination, good to see Exbet going the extra mile before launch, will make all thebdiffference cheers lol

Thanks for picking up on that! It's just the latest in a long line of incremental improvements to the API that have come out of great feedback from all of you who engaged in the API beta.

On another note, very worrying to see reports of approx. one third of the Marlins' roster testing positive for coronavirus:
https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/29552219/sources-four-more-marlins-test-positive-coronavirus-total-17

It must be odds against that this MLB season plays through as scheduled.

exbet.io it probably will never happen ;( or maybe you are lying drunk with the joy of receiving your license and don't speak up Wink

Thanks for the vote of confidence mirq20  Wink

We are not lying drunk, as there is plenty of work to keep us busy. Nor do we have our license finalized yet. Rest assured, followers of this thread will be amongst the first to know when everything is completed!

You can advertising in this thread, but when will it be operational? I think we all want to try it.
Would be awesome if it would be something like Betfair.
The answer is pretty clear since op already mentioned it several times in this thread. Exbet is still in beta mode and it was expected to launch by now, but the plans got delayed thanks to COVID-19 and licensing issues.

I don't expect it to be fully operational anytime soon. Am expecting Q1 2021 to be the official launch period. Expecting this site to compete with Betfair is crazy since the liquidity will probably be low initially.

You put it better than we did, Haunebu - thank you!

(Hoping for sooner than Q1 2021 but there is nothing wrong with a little careful pessimism  Smiley )

hi VanityWallets2015.

Thank for your interest! You're right... the only important question right now is "when will it be operational?"

The answer is - as soon as our eGaming license is complete. Exbet is ready to launch so it is frustrating to have to wait. But we believe the eGaming license is important for Exbet's stability and integrity. And this will benefit Exbet users in the long-term.

So... thanks to everyone who is waiting. We hope to repay your patience later this summer!

(And yes.... it will be something very much like Betfair. Just with Bitcoin..)

Regards

Fairlay is a good alternative to Betfair and the liquidity is pretty good across all markets in my opinion.

Degens.com is identical to betfair. Go into settings and select exchange mode.

Requires no KYC and fees are 0.5%. It's non custodial as it uses smart contracts.

It doesn't accept bitcoin though. Only the DAI stablecoin.

hearing this past day or so that exbet api response time is slow. are you working on it over weekend as we are looking to trade some weekend soccer cheers

We have a dev working on it this weekend. They have been in contact with your team and are getting to the root of this particular issue. Thanks for flagging here also  Smiley

Just to be clear to others checking in on this thread - the Exbet API beta is officially over but we kept access open to a few people who wanted to continue building on the API before launch, one of those is arco-yabamba. We're just hoping he doesn't think he will be winning any real Bitcoin trading today's football  Grin
It will be a little longer before that's on the cards.
