Facebook is late in the game, but they have so much power and  strong customer base ( over 2 billion active users monthly) that whatever they do it will have big impact on the crypto market, hopefully on a positive way in terms of mass adoption.
No, they are not late yet, crypto market still on it's infancy, fb knew about this and they are riding with it's popularity and begin at the moment where many people are aware now about this types of money, don't forget that the twins who created the FB was also a bitcoin millionaire, the team behind
FB will use the concept with already a high hope that their users will adopt this in time that they offer their own crypto coin for their services.

Yesterday I created a topic here about Facebook Coin: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5129560.20

After that Nathaniel Popper, a NYTimes reporter that covers crypto, said Facebook is raising money for its crypto project. Seems like I may not be wrong in my article.
Here and here:
https://twitter.com/nathanielpopper/status/1115331482384388098
https://coingeek.com/facebook-seeks-1-billion-investment-from-vcs-for-its-crypto/

I can't see other reason for Facebook to be raising money if its not to back its own decentralized crypto. FB wouldn't need to raise to issue a stablecoin.
Everybody in the original topic said FBCoin couldn't replace bitcoin. While I agree that the ultimate store of value will remain BTC, I think FBCoin could easily surpass BTC in daily usage and, therefore, market cap.

I ran some numbers and I think its possible that FBCoin launches with around 300B USD market cap and reaches 1T in a few months. I'm comparing to HKD M0/M1 and HKMA's stability fund.
But I think FB should raise at least 10B to cover the initial stage of running a "sovereign" fund to stabilize the currency against extreme volatility, like I wrote in my article: https://medium.com/blockchain-positive/how-facebook-coin-can-help-billions-of-people-by-not-being-a-stablecoin-d780b6579e93

Brace yourselves, new times are coming.

Well we must wait if the new currency of Facebook will be a cryptocurrency or will be a token, for the market capitalization I do not doubt that it is high, due to the number of users that moves the facebook.

And the money collection for facebook I do not see it necessary for the simple fact that Facebook has a lot of money, I think Mark Zuckenberg wants to experiment and not miss the game with the Blockchain technology, so it is clear that it can not replace or compete with Bitcoin because it does not have any millionaire support that establishes it, in order to compete against bitcoin, but it will use its technology to increase not only the stocks in the Stock Market, but it will also raise money, very much to be able to execute any action that it has in mind.

All we can do is just waiting for the next step from Facebook, and if they are really serious with the project, then they will see hard works and will their teams to spend more time to make sure the project will run. I think many people believe with the Facebook Coin because they are one of the biggest social media on the internet and they can get a lot of people for their members.
But personally, I am curious with the Facebook Coin itself, and I hope that it is different than the other coins so the Facebook coin can compete with the existing coins.

if facebook launches its own cryptocurrency, it is most likely to be centralized! What is the benefit of that crypto? ... will someone save their money in a platform where our data is not safe?

I think they are seriously entered into this script of it and make the steps for the new cryptocurrency to  launch in very short time and I think their marketing strategy will be different than the other type of promotion and I think it will be silly possible to reach the people with huge attraction.
All crypto enthusiast, some.are greedy are eyeing on this for this is one of a good project that has been already operating and has a goof community all over the world. We could expect that there will be a good turn on its use but if facebook will change its platform like giving all users a wallet and a fee in every access then that is a different story. Users are used to access in facebook for free will go to another social media platform and will not used facebook.again.

I think it would become the greatest rival of bitcoin if it does happen. To the fact that there are millions of users of facebook,  it will be not hard for them to make advertisements and encourage the users to support them. It has a huge market,  huge market means more success. However I do not think that it would surpass bitcoin. It will be a huge rival but can't defeat bitcoin. That's my opinion.

Facebook has got the numbers because it host the largest number of participants as compared to the other social media platform, hence raising funds for its coin will not be a problem. Facebook in itself is a large platform for promoting its coin once it gets launched on the market and this will raise its patronage tremendously well. As long as this will bring additional value to the entire crypto market, I believe Facebook should carry on with its cryptocurrency development.

I think Facebook is very serious about developing their project to make Facebook coins, so Facebook is looking for billions of dollars in funds for the project, but unfortunately according to the information that Facebook coin will be a stable coin. So it's not the original Crypto.

More big company join in crypto market will make investor more confident and i am believe market cap value will reach trillion dollar

is this true they are doing it seriously, I think the chances of getting the people to be attracted by the Facebook is very much easier and the place will be always there for this type of bigger companies will be easily given by the people to trust because they are always been in part of our life that's why it will be possible to develop very easily.

if they launch their FBcoin I don't think it will replace bitcoin just because of million users of facebook, not all of them are crypto users. Well let's see that in the future.
The main users of FBCoin will be companies and corporations, streamers and earners and payers using bitcoin to run their company ads, stream payouts, and the like. If they play this right it is a potential billion dollars market.

They are coming just in time, jus tin time when the bull run is coming but I will just consider them as a hype coin just like Electroneum unless they can offer a new algo for the community, that has not been implemented yet as weall know hype coins eventually die down, same thing that's going to happen to Facebook coin.
You and I know that Facebook has never really failed in any project he deep his hands into, you can’t compare the popularity of Facebook to that of Electroneum, I have never even heard of such name before, but if you ask 8 out of 10 citizens, they will tell you the history of Facebook.

I believe Facebook will not just decide to join the cryptocurrency community without having a tangible product to offer, so I believe strongly in whatever Facebook has to offer and I am so sure that its coin will really create a very big boom in the cryptocurrency marketcap, with the introduction of Facebook coin, we have just began another bright movement in a crypto journey which will see to the success of it.

Facebook's big name certainly makes anyone believe in their project, I hope this can make crypto great again, the thing that is still confusing up to now is that the supply of Facebook coin is unknown.

It is good that Facebook is joining the space and tokenizing it`s platform. It will have great impact  on the awarness

Although Facebook has lot of users in the world.  It's good idea for Facebook owners to make Facebook coin. But l think this decision taken by fb owner is to late,Whenever different types of currencies are in the market like crypto currency etc.so l think how can face them .

These kind of giants are good to have big market presence for the crypto industry but who knows whether they also may came up with the centralized cryptocurrency to invest and lock our fund as they wish like how the ripple does for the crypto marketplace.

When you invest on this coin remind it, please sell instantly when FBcoin listed on any exchanges else you loose the money invested.
I even think that such informational and technological giants, such as Facebook, will replace the banking system for 5-10 years.
