Cheers to everyone for the all fun. Yes, it was a fake. Remember, don't believe everything you hear on the internet. Wink

The messy details: I emailed Amazon with my question that I showed everyone here. They then responded yesterday and it was a breeze to use HTML edit to give it a few juicy details.

Here is the real email!

Hello,

Thanks for writing to us.

We don't accept bitcoins as a payment method on our website at this time.

We accept credit cards, debit cards, payment from U.S. checking accounts, Amazon.com Gift Cards, Amazon Payments Stored Balance, and the Amazon.com Store Card. Here are the credit cards we accept:

-- American Express
-- Diner's Club (U.S. billing addresses only)
-- Discover
-- MasterCard
-- Visa, Visa Electron, and Visa Check Cards
-- Eurocard
-- JCB
-- NYCE
-- STAR
-- China UnionPay (credit card only)

You can learn more about these payment methods on our Help pages:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html/?nodeId=513058

However we consider your suggestion to accept bit coins as a payment method.

Customer feedback like yours is very important in helping us continue to improve our website and services. I appreciate your thoughts, and will be sure to pass your suggestion along.

We look forward to seeing you again soon.

Best regards,
Hariprasath S.

If you have btc and you must use it on amazon - then use gyft, its virtually the same process I've been using my btc with amazon for months now to expand stuff.

If this was true. The price would have risen in a couple of hours because of insider trading. I can't imagine Mr. Hariprasath to know about this and not to buy some bitcoins himself.  Grin

Chatted with another Amazon rep, seems to be false as well. Posted my article for it here:

Publically traded companies have certain requirements on how information that could effect the companies stock price is released. Something like this would be released in an official press release for "everyone" to learn about at the same time.

Nice troll though, got me very excited for a minute  Grin

Amazon denied this to be true.

Thought so if this was true Bitcoin would of doubled in price and would of went a lot higher.

Over on reddit where this same story was posted several readers have online chatted with Amazon Reps who confirm that this is a fake.

Someone email Amazon the same question, if they replay saying the same thing then the screenshot is real.

Think we all should to see how many people come back with the same response.

@delaro

Why are there 16 minutes between both screenshots in the clock on your computer? Why are there 14 minutes between making the first screenshot and posting it here?

I know this is real because the amazon rep Hariprasath is the exact same guy who fixed a billing issue for me less than a month ago.

Anybody who says fake with no evidence just got his ass handed to him.

Remember that the op could of dealt with this person before and knew what name to put I'm too still scepitical because they are making their own virtual currency.

Erh... Ever heard about the developer console? It just lets you edit the HTML of the page you're viewing, meaning that you can edit the text to say whatever you like.
