Hey guys. I just got back from having dinner with the family and I was surprised at the number of responses to my post. I would love to post a screen shot but I'm somewhat new to the forums and don't know how to post a image saved on my computer. Can someone explain the process?

Upload it to the web somewhere and copy the link between these tags:

Q: What's one common reason that people post fake news stories (good or bad) with financial implications on public forums?
A: To attempt to incite other people in trading in a way that financially benefits the poster.

Q: What kind of person benefits from the type of buying that good news can generate?
A: Somebody who wants to sell.

I knew this would be fake before I even clicked on it, if this was true we would of heard it all over the news. Someone has already mentioned that a normal rep wouldn't know much about development and wouldn't now they are planning on accepting Bitcoin. Also, no way would they rather tell people on a email than a news report. I'm not going to continue to explain why this is fake because;

Fake. I am not even going to explain why, because everyone with a brain should know why.

amazon are making a amazon coin. this is not a blockchain/crypto coin. it is more like microsoft points/facebook credits/itunes credit. as such these coins do not magically appear, people have to purchase them. and amazon would at first open it upto credit/debitcards and then using bitcoin to purchase their amazon balance. much the same way that facebook has its own 'credits' to use within facebook, but they too are going to allow bitcoins to be used to purchase facebook credits in the near future.

its only time until bitcoin becomes as popular as credit cards, when it comes to online purchases

It could be possible amazon do the same as Facebook did they could allow you to buy their virtual coin with Bitcoin?

That would be cool and great for the bitcoin community, but I am not sure if they worded their response correctly to you.   I heard that they were in the process of creating their own platform for virtual currencies only to be used on Amazon, but not bitcoin specifically.  I am hoping that I am wrong...

This is fake they are developing their own coin.

Give us a screenshot..

It would be hard to verfiy that too because of photoshop. It's not real they wouldn't release the news this way.

I'm not sure if the e-mail would be fake or not, but even if the OP received that specific e-mail word for word, it's still phrased in a way that might not mean what we all hope it means.

In other words, if it's indeed real and the Amazon rep is in the know, then it's possible that Amazon might be developing their own coin/currency/whatever.

Either way, I'm still hopeful that they'll accept it one day!

I guess we will soon see if this is real or not, but this article from Patrick Byrne, the CEO of Overstock.com is interesting.

I can just see the meeting of Amazon execs now...

"So, we've been working on retooling our website to accept bitcoins as a payment method for a while now. It should be ready soon. How should we let the public know about this? A press release? A big banner on our website? A series of TV commercials? No, let's just tell to some random asshole who e-mailed our support center and let me spread the word to everyone else. Yeah, that's what we'll do."
