now I'm not so sure, alright. I thought every staff can see the trashcan.

make that the poster of the quoted post and whoever-can-see-their-deleted-posts' bussiness, then.

why not? they can always click the link on the quote to find the real quoted post.

how if the Quoted post is not found ?(deleted)

then that's the poster of the quoted post and mods' business. afaik deleted posts go to the trashcan and mods can view them.
IIRC when I asked hilarious about a deleted bump , he said only admins can access it , so wouldn't be sure on that statement.

having this in mind, how is possible to have a fake quote? well ofc people can be confused while they didn't check if the quote link is wrong, but after someone check it, there is not a possible confusion.

btw, if i find something like that that only want to hurt, i will press the report button faster than the speed of light Wink, this is what everybody should do.

It is from typing in the message when  you quote it.  It uses text in your post it does not go to post you quote, so you could edit it.  Doing it to change into a fake quote is bad and I highly suggest not doing it.

It does come in handy though on the ability to edit quotes.  Like in miner picture threads you can edit picture out and save a ton of space.  This way you don't have multiple of same picture in posts right together.  So there are good uses of this.

But unfortunately sounds like a bad use OP dealt with.

Is it ok for members on this forum to post a  fake quote ?

Can I ask why you want to know this? Why would this be good information for you, I hope you're not planning to try & trick or scam people?

Look up in thread someone edited one of his posts so it said like daily scam instead of some other word.  So OP is a victim of it not trying to use it.

I think he wanted to know to get other person in trouble.  But I don't think it happened.

For good purpose, such as hide refferal/malware link, snip to make it shorter or correct something with bold so they can notice, it's OK
Otherwise, people would judge you when they found out about it. But, no one will trust you after that Sad
After reading this I am now interested: can you be banned for having referral/malware links in your signature?
Or you can have anything you like in your signature and it is ok? I am just asking out of curiosity.
Also fake quotes are so bm and bs that if you want to be treated with respect, don't do that.

Historically, scammers have actually been able to fake quotes in order to reward themselves handsomely. I heard that last year, someone quoted a link to some download for Opalcoin, but changed the link to his own malware. He ended up stealing ore than 10% of all Opalcoin.

So yes, you are allowed to forge quotes. Be wary when reading friend.

I try to read from the original before clicking when I seriously care about the content. As of personal messages, there's currently no way to prove that they one that quotes it publicly isn't defacing the quote but then again those messages aren't meant to be public so I don't see why a way to verify authenticity of PM quotes would be needed.

There are no rules regarding creating a fake quote, but if people find out about what you've been doing, then probably you'll be in for a judging time. Also, why the heck would someone create a fake quote when it can easily be seen if someone read a thread carefully? Huh

Op, you can post fake quotes all you want, but when people realize that, your quotes are bullshit, they gonna judge you.
And I don't think you would like to be known as that 'untrustworthy lying bastard'. Quotes are quotes for a reason, don't change that.

A fake quote? Is it like:
Is it ok for members on this forum to post a true quote ?
(Note the bolded 'true' in the quote - I have modified it)

If it is the first type, it is hard to tell if it is fake without basic research (however everyone here should know a BTC block is 25 BTC not 10000).
If it is the second type, as the quote have a link to the post quoted, we can see if the quote is correct. We could report them to mods, however they are not likely to be moderated (as mods won't remove scam). If you think someone will be editing the post after you quote, use archive services like https://archive.org to save the page.

it's nothing bad just 1 user is accusing me for being some alt of someone else and he changed 1 word

example :

i said daily bump

he quoted it as daily scam

FYI, he changed it not with the intention of making people believe that you actually said that, but with the intention of interpreting what you said because he felt that you were a scammer.

With being a MSDN dealer you kinda open up for some flak from people.   There are people who go around and when they say MSDN they neg for selling, as TOS.  But I guess that is a different topic.

If someone makes quotes to make it sound like you saying something that hurts you.  Report it to mod.   Depending on what it is will effect if they remove.   It is not a rule not to do it... but no it's not good.

Not if they change it to contain malware or something. If someone is changing something nefariously or to mislead that will probably warrant appropriate feedback as well.
