is a false quote as well but still helpful.
And "false" quoting is sometimes helpful as well, when you only want to reply to a specific part of the post. And as encrypted has said, the person can click the quote link to go to the actual post.

Her everything is allowed but if someone does that, it would make the person look untrustworthy.

why not? they can always click the link on the quote to find the real quoted post.

It's not the case of posts only but people do fake personal messages and chat messages as well. Hard to find the real message.

As far as I know there is no such a rule against it but its certainly not a good practice if someone does it and depending on the case to case basis and the information provided, it could be used in a bad way... Perhaps if you could include the actual scenario your saying, it would be easier to identify it base on how the situation is.
