There is nothing that says anything about CSW going to jail. It just says that if a list of addresses can't be provided, then CSW has to testify in person, explaining the reason for the non-compliance.

Well this is a funny thread regardless. With the pending discovery and interrogation, CSW will be forced to provide some answers, which I imagine may help those in other jurisdictions being sued by him. I can't see this helping him in his pending litigation in the UK against others.

From what I understand, he was ordered by the court to disclose his bitcoin addresses. One of these addresses he claimed as his was recently signed with a message stating CSW is not the owner. I doubt he will be able to keep up his charade much longer under the U.S. court system. This is a serious matter.

Not just liar, Craig Wright seems also to be a criminal. He had confiscated others bitcoin and has not returned them to the valid owner.
The court has asked him to produce proof of ownership. If he's proven to be guilty of theft, he might even go to a prison.
But as it's just an accusation, we should not decide before the judges do.

I doubt he'll end up in prison, he'll probably just get fined and then have to sell/transfer the bitcoin he stole. No doubt this scumbag can afford it too.
Hopefully this will be one of the first court cases of many to eventually bankrupt this fraudster, but we can only hope.

If it's true, then I could say that he deserves it. He has done too much drama in crypto world so I believe that he should pay for all the pretentions and all the damage that he has done in ruining the creator of Bitcoin's name. It's time for him to learn his lessons.

Okay, so Craig just browsed numbers of rich man's wallet address and claimed that it was his just to prove that he has tons of bitcoin to aupport his claim that he is satoshi. Huh

That seems to be all of it though, and because of that move he was able to cement his status as Satoshi to the unknowing members of the community. Luckily though for the most of us here, we know that his claims are somewhat off and are out of this world knowing full well that Satoshi would never reveal himself to the public.

Accurate synopsis can be read here:

Basically it does not look that great for Dr. Wright.

Will he even show up in court?

I'm afraid he'll have a no show to the court and will certainly find an excuse to do so. Knowing how this dude conned a lot of people for his stint as Satoshi for the past few years, I doubt he still has an ounce of credibility left within his soul by now.

Note that in the recent copyright application (which anyone can file for around $35), the application showed that Craig Wright claims to be a citizen from Antigua and Barbuda and not from Australia. Likely he renounced his Australian citizenship.

Mr Calvin Ayre (of CoinGeek) also resides in Antigua.

Another thread related to Craig Wright! Damn. This guy stays relevant thanks to you guys sharing any news related to him(Positive or Negative). He loves this kind of attention.

The best thing to do is to simply ignore him completely. Also, he is pretty damn rich and I doubt he will ever go to jail. He will probably continue claiming that he is Satoshi even if the real Satoshi reveals himself/herself.

Nope. At this juncture its imperative for any Bitcoin enthusiast to follow every second of this case.

Popcorn time.

imo this case is clear. Wright is just a hoaxer and have stole at 2014 way after kleiman death maybe some thousand bitcoins from his hard disk. Kleiman for sure was an early adopter, a tech geek like any other at that early days that mine bitcoin.
For sure he is not Satoshi but only an early adopter.
There is not 1 million bitcoin but maybe 10-20-30 thousand that Wright have steal from the kleiman parents months after kleiman death.
this is the story.

These charges are serious. Of course no one has a document in this direction, I think. Completely hypothetical discourses.

I think Craig Wright is opportunistic and unreliable in my opinion, but I'm not sure how right to make such accusations.

This is just a scenario, you think. I'm not sure about this when he was lying or telling the truth. No one knows this fact except Wright, is he really a thief? We wait for the trial to end and the final statements made. With the present value, this is probably the biggest bitcoin-related lawsuit.

Wright is certainly not a very nice dude. In any case, his statements do not cause him respect. This person probably decided that bad fame is also fame and makes everything possible for the crypto-society to hate him. If he really steals money from another person, this once again confirms my suspicions that he is a disgusting person. Many people try to become famous thanks to HYIP, and the fact that other people hate them does not soar them at all. It's horrible

Someone has already come forward to sign one of the addresses that CW gave up as his, so they already have a case against him for misrepresentation and/or being in contempt of court.  Tongue

He has enough money to buy decent legal representation and as we know already, the jails are not full of rich people.  Roll Eyes  If they get a guilty verdict against him, he would end up getting a huge fine or a suspended sentence for being a first offender or some community service.  Roll Eyes

Craig Wright's days of being a snake oil salesman is far from being at an end, he thrives in media attention.  Angry

Will he actually go to jail for this? I don't know the US law, but he'll probably just pay a few grands in fines for wasting court's time, which is like nothing to him.

if he keeps obstructing and refusing to comply with court orders---especially if he is ordered to appear in court and continues this behavior---he could be held in contempt of court. this carries real jail time up to 6 months per violation, not small fines.

I don't follow his case closely, are there any things that could actually send him to jail? Would stealing Kleinman's qualify for that?

if he defrauded his family and estate, then there can be criminal charges on top of the civil damages. it depends on the strength of the criminal case. civil cases have a much lower burden of proof. on top of the civil damages, i think the kleinmans may be using the civil case as a pretense for discovery of evidence that could lead to criminal charges against wright.
