iam the operator of a faucet since 2 years now .
and ther is only small income / profit to make with it .
also iam trying to give as much as i can to my users.
but server costs and domain makes profit very small.

kind regards

This is because faucets aren't SUPPOSED to be profitable. You use them to bring in traffic for your real sites. You have to treat it like a business.
You're absolutely right, but the far majority of the faucets are only active because the people behind them only keep running them for the purpose of generating profits.

It's peanuts to get a faucet running with plenty of free to use scripts, but these people don't have any further knowledge on how to create a real business/project alongside the faucet.

They just go for the easy way in the hope that the faucet generates them more in ad revenue than what it costs them to pay people out, to maintain their vps/dedicated server and domain cost.

That's why a lot of these fun faucets are being shut down due to people ignoring faucets now the price has gone through the roof, resulting in rock bottom payouts.

Is starting a bitcoin Faucet worth the input effort and investment? Is the profit earned by running the faucet provides decent income? Has anyone invested in such venture? How was your experience?
There are many faucets has been rise up in this business industry, even altcoin create their own faucets to attract their community to stay remain o the project they had. But mostly people get their faucets directly into bitcoin compare to altcoin faucets. I think faucet is only advisable for the beginners only.

If you (OP) wants to run business related to faucet, I think you should start to try run a faucet rotator, don't need a lot cost, even it can running with zero cost if you able to do a programming and developing.
The important thing to success in faucet rotator is the marketing.

It used to be profitable, but stopped last year when Google banned faucet sites from their Adsense program.

Adsense used to pay quite well, whereas other ad networks pay pitifully, they don't pay enough to cover costs. A lot of faucet sites closed down after the Adsense ban. So that business model is dead and buried.

Thanks everyone for your valuable input. So I guess its a NO. Actually one friend of mine recently started couple of ethercoin faucets, are altcoin faucets worth it or their result must be same too now?
Actually faucets are waste of time, however claiming some altcoins from faucet might be a good way, i personally claiming some altcoins like Litecoin, ripple, apple byte and so on, and i still do that, always looking for new altcoin to collect them, i mean their price would be up, that's why i prefer to claim altcoin than bitcoin due to bitcoin's rate on faucet is too low, you can earn much bitcoin if you have lot of referrals.
So for this reason i might say that altcoin's faucet is not bad though, especially popular coin like etherum so that you must promote your site to etherum comunity.

Bitcoin faucet is not popular as it used to,because the rewards are to small  and the captchas are to many to solve, the only captcha job I'm in right now is the mrai, unlimited mrai you can convert to satoshis you can easily earn 200 satoshis here in 5 seconds

Altcoin faucets isn't very popular, it means small earnings from advertisements. But good part of altcoin faucets that there are less bots and fraudsters who are trying to steal coins from faucet.
I saw that some faucet owners said that simple faucets (enter btc address, solve captcha, receive coins) have no future. They have to offer to users something more - faucet based game, dice faucet and so on.

It is a tug or war. You need huge initial investments to attract more users and to stay competitive.

There are thousands of faucets already in the market, why a user will visit your site ?
If you have solid answer for this question then you might get chances to make your faucet a grand success.

You need to fix faucet pay out attractive and competitive and then need to choose your advertising network carefully like reasonably paying but should not freeze your account for any reason like google ad-sense frequently doing with many publishers.

- If you want to start from scratch than you better not spend your valuable time in it.
- Profit from running faucet may be only enough to pay your users.
- I have tried few months ago but i have loss so much so left the idea of running a faucet.
- Even after running for two months i was not earning enough to pay my users.

I think the profit earned by accepting advertisements to your sites, also try reading this op https://99bitcoins.com/making-money-from-bitcoin-faucets-heres-what-ive-learned/

Business itself is completely saturated and when the guy from 99bitcoins was running a faucet he was able to use google adsense for a good amount of time, which allowed him to make a profit for sometime. Big problem at the moment is the fluctuation of price in bitcoin which could be the difference between profit and loss.

Avoid this at all costs OP, find a different venture.

I think is faucet business is over. is no longer viable for user or owner.
There is not adequate advertisements network, where you can earn enough for fill faucet balance and that they left the coffee and beer. Now is faucet just wasting time

Thanks everyone for your valuable input. So I guess its a NO. Actually one friend of mine recently started couple of ethercoin faucets, are altcoin faucets worth it or their result must be same too now?

It's not worth going through all the troubles to be honest. There are lots of competition out there right now. Making any typical faucet won't get you anywhere. You need to be unique and give users something new. You must take precautions and make sure people are not abusing the faucet in any way. Should make sure that your faucet is invulnerable to bots and make strong anti-bot scripts. Any mistakes and you might end up losing money.

You don't do it to profit off the faucet. You use the faucet as a funnel for other businesses. You won't make anything otherwise.

You re way, way too late for this to be profitable. Besides a few top shelf faucets, the rest only attracts people from low income country which translates into useless marketing cause these people do not buy advertised stuff.

All in all, not worth it.

It can be profitable if you have programming knowledge and if you can use adsense. Using another ads networks won't give you enough profit to share with your users and to make profit for yourself. The profit comes from original and creative projects, so you need to create it from your own mind. You can check Micro Earnings section to have some ideas about what to do by looking the favorite sites features. If you don't have knowledge about it, better to don't try, the investment won't worth.

I would say it's not worth starting a faucet site. you should build something real! like a game, where one could play and earn. it would be much more interesting and engaging than faucet and will fetch you more profit.
