Yeah. They need all the support they can get; maybe not from our President but at least from our country's citizens. Because my father told me that there was a news where in PRRD said that Ph don't stand a chance against Italy. I wasn't able to watch that news but, I'm so disappointed that he said that.
He really is brutally honest. But I know Gilas will find that statement motivating rather than disheartening.
Don't you know that PRRD will be the Gilas number one supporter when they play against Italy? It's reported that he will be watching that game if nothing changes on his schedule. Like what you have said, he is just brutally honest to tell that Gilas has no chance against Italy and it is good as it will lower the expectation of the non-basketball fanatic Filipinos on their quest.
I have read that news online. Well, the final score of 62-108 says it all. They really did struggle. I think I was the only one who was so positive and thought that Gilas could own that game. Guess I put my expectations too high. And from that loss, Gilas should really do their homework.
However, the positive side on this is that the young guys gave their best, and proved that they are not afraid of the world stage and bigger opponents. They should keep that up.
Anyway, with their game against Serbia on Monday, I think they're gonna have to quadruple their efforts or even more. According to Coach Guiao himself:
"I guess, we just have to gather ourselves again and be able to recover physically, and be able to find additional motivation to be able to play Serbia."[1]
But one thing's for sure: I wouldn't put my expectations too high this time.
