They got the ticket to the knockout stage as the runners-up of Group 'B' with a 1-0 win against Iran. Pulisic, the team's biggest star, contributed to both of the USA's two goals in the group stage. In this match, the United States defeated Iran 1-0 to confirm the last 16th.
I wished Iran had qualified for the next round because they performed very well and took some bold off-the-pitch steps. They did not respect the US team because one would have thought that they would adopt a defensive strategy but they came out and played the game from the start to the finish. They did all the could to equalize the goal but they misused most of their chances. This Iranian team also stood in support of protesters in Iran when they refused to sing their national anthem before their first group game. Progressing to the next stage would have been a great milestone but I hope they would be safe when they return home?
Iran has a surprising win against Wales and it is a very strong performance from them after a big defeat in a first day. However, they can not continue it in a last match with the USA. Cristian Pulisic deserves to be a leader of the USA team, a brightest star in their squad, a biggest star for that national team after Claudio Reyna, a legend player years ago.Pulisic has to go to a hospital for checking his injury and there is no confirmation about his condition so far. I hope he will be able to play in round 16 because he is very important for the USA attacking system.
About Iran, they will have to wait for a next World Cup to fight again and aim at their first time to pass through group stage. In history, they have never passed through World Cup group stage.
The Iran vs USA match was very interesting from the start. In this match, Iran tried to score from the first to the last time, but Iran could not score. USA missed a lot of goals, with a little better effort USA could have scored another goal. But in this match USA played great. They scored 1 goal and won the match.
Iran fightted seriously but it seems the match with Wales consumed a lot of energy from their players. Consequently, they can not maintain good body energy and best performance in a decisive match with USA.

I almost change my bet to draw after 1st half finish because Wales seems very defensive. The England attacker is enough difficult to break the Wales line which comes to left and right-wingers but still can't cleave up the defense of Wales. lucky me not to change my bet and continue previously to bet on England because Rashford and Foden succeed to change the score to be 2 different scores, and more sure to win after Rashford create his 2nd goal.
Now, they have to hard work to prepare to face Senegal in the 16 round.
Sometimes I wonder why Wales that is very close to England is not developing in football like the former. Wales was practically beaten in ball possession, goal attempts and the final score. I have always believed that the future attack of both England and Manchester United would be spearheaded by the 25years old Marcus Rashford. When football veterans like Harry Kane retires, Marcus and maybe Folden would be the future of the Three Lions. Rashford's brace in this match was a masterclass. His freekick and solo run would definitely be nominated for the goal of the tournament.

England has won by a large margin in their games. They also seem to be playing extremely well.
Personally I think they're one of the best performing teams of this tournament so far.
It will be hard to stop, I can definitely see England getting into the final, and even winning the world cup actually.

I had a really long and busy and something came up at work that I forgot all about tuning in on time for the United States versus Iran matchup. Thankfully when I was going to get my haircut, I went to a place called "sports cuts" and they had the game on there on every single tv, so I was able to watch the last 20mns or so. What an exciting game! So happy the US won.
Does anyone know how badly the US best player is hurt? If we don't have him for Saturdays game it wont even be any fun to watch really. I'm going to be so upset if he can't play.

In 1930 (Uruguay) they got the 3th place
Hehe I know it's a long time ago, but it's official.
In 1994 the world cup in US I watched my first cup and they had a great team with Alexi Lalas, Marcelo Balboa, Cobi Jones, Tab Ramos etc, but unfortunately they played against Brazil in round of 16.
That team could reached at least quarter finals, but Brazil after that was the champion.
Talking about recent past, in 2002 (South Korea and Japan), US got until quarter finals, eliminated by Germany (2nd place) and only by 0 x 1. (Donovan played that match, and in my opinion, US played well against Germany, that team was good)

It's worth to watch because it was probably one of the best matches of US that I've ever seen, and there's a huge polemic about a ball in the hand of german player, maybe the result could be different with that goal.

There were no surprises in the Wales-England clash.England managed to get 3 points with 3 goals.Rashford was the man of the match with 2 goals.Wales were eliminated and England qualified for the last 16. It was a match won by the side that played better.
Perhaps the most important match of the day was the Iran-USA match. USA managed to beat Iran with a goal scored by Pulusic. Thus, they qualified for the last 16. Iran didn't show much throughout the match. Even though the possession rates were close to each other, the USA was the better side in the overall game.

England was obviously the better team of the match with Wales as they comfortably bagged the 3 points having scored 3 goals. Having now qualified for the round of 16, they’re bound to face tougher opponents ahead.
I think the match between USA and Iran was okay; not exciting but okay. USA, having scored during the first half managed to hold down the fort till the end of the game and has now also qualified foot the round of 16. Iran and Wales have joined the growing list of countries to be eliminated from the tournament.

Having too many quality players on the bench isn't a major concern to me, but not knowing when to utilize such players to win a game is. We have seen in matches that a team might have potential players on the field and on the bench and still fail to win; this is quite upsetting to consider. The England coach had the opportunity to have such good players on his team, and his ability to utilise them effectively to win a match is what is most crucial in this scenario. Congratulations to England on a fantastic and excellent performance today against Wales.

if USA can still maintain its advantage against Iran then USA will qualify for the group stage. and it seems that in group B England and USA will qualify. following Netherlands and Senegal who have qualified in Group A. But we don't know what will happen in the second half.

USA can hold on till the end of the game. No late dramas will happen in that game. They've played relatively well in this tournament. The draw with Wales and also draw with England, a game no one expected them to draw. And they've been pretty impressive against Iran tonight. They'll probably be facing Netherland in the round of 16 which also looks impossible but never say never. We've seen so many shocking things in this world cup to write off any team
With this win they made it to the knockout phase. Pulisic became the hero in this match.Actually I hope Iran wins in this match because indeed they still have hope at first and of course if they win they can advance to the next round for the first time, but on the other hand the USA is also performing very well in this world cup and it is not impossible that it will many young talents will come from the USA in my opinion that can be counted on.

The young guy has tried his best this season by scoring good amount of goals for his club Manchester United, he did not end there he brought his good form to the World Cup where he has netted for England three times in the group stage.

Overall performance England has a very nice squad depth and they could be the Champion of this world cup.

Rashford's free kick wasn't the first of the tournament. Sabiri of Morocco scored one against Belgium. The first goal demoralised Wales but they have been poor in the entire campaign. Danny ward is having a season to forget both in club and Country.
Southgate will now have a selection delimma because Rashford and Foden's performance today proved they should be starting. So I predict he will take out sterling and Mount for this two. Another area is the right back, it will be hard to predict who will start between Walker, Trippier and TAA if the coach decides to play a back four.
The game against Senegal will be a tricky one especially for there midfield since Senegal are packed with great energetic players there.
Harry Maguire is one of there standout players in the tournament and one mistake shouldn't make fans ridicule him. He his a grantee starter in this England team
