It was a nice opening game in the World Cup. Ecuador were highly favoured for the win. They kept the game under control most of the time and got a deserved 2-0 win at the end. E. Valencia was really impressive by scoring two goals. He had a goal disallowed by VAR due to offside as well. Maybe he could have even made a hat-trick if he wasn't replaced by another player in the 77th minute.
Senegal - Netherlands could be an interesting game tomorrow. Netherlands are very highly favoured maybe but who knows maybe Senegal might show a decent performance anyway.

This is probably the best World Cup opening ceremony I have ever seen I must be very honest with you, the Qatar citizens really gave us a great show.
The ceremony wasn't matched by the Qatar team performance though, I don't expect them to win the match against Ecuador but seeing that Ecuador isn't much of a big team themselves I thought at least they should have had a goal. Well I hope we see better games in the world cup later on.

I kept my coupon. Actually, before the tournament started, I thought that Qatar would beat Ecuador, but when I saw what was written here, I gave up and played under 2.5 goals in the match. Only when the goals came in the first half, I was afraid that my coupon would definitely lose, but in the second half there was no sound of the hall. Enner Valencia would have scored the earliest Hatrick in tournament history, but his first goal was not counted due to offside. In the matches to be played tomorrow, Senegal Netherlands match will be over 2.5 goals and I will play against Wales in the USA & Wales match. Good luck everyone.
VAR was efficient for this cancelled goal otherwise we would see 3 goals at least.I am particularly disappointed from Qatar. At the opposite I was quite sure they won't win but I was expecting a good performance and maybe a draw. Conmebol teams is way better than AFC teams and Ecuador isn't an easy opponent.
Honestly after the first (cancelled) goal in less than 3 minutes, I was like whoah promising! I still don't know why Ecuador dropped and let Qatari made some useless attempts at the end of the first half and in the second half. Qatari players were passing the ball between each other then returning it to the first player without finding a way to progress before ending the cercle they were creating with the ball.
That was a shameful match for them, basically everyone was disappointed with their performance and a catastrophic failure was so close since they didn't receive more goals. They will definitely leave the competition early and I doubt they could score more than 3 goals, I would say even more than 1 but who knows...
Qatar did nothing in today's game. They couldn't control the ball and they are lucky that Ecuador didn't humiliate them with more goals. I hope that this is the last time that FIFA gave the World Cup to a country that doesn't play football.
Everybody knows that if they don't host the tournament they couldn't make it through Asia qualifiers. Qatar played so bad that they don't even have any shot on goal. Enner Valencia scored double goal again just like their previous meet four years ago. Ecuador got three points but their other matches are more important as I believe every team will beat Qatar. Netherlands and Senegal are better teams than Ecuador so they shouldn't rejoice in advance.
I think it's safe to say that Qatar will be the outsider in this World Cup. I will be really surprised if they manage to secure even one point in the next two matches. If they score a goal, that will be their biggest achievement.

Qatar was too weak against Ecuador who should have played aggressively as the hosts, but unfortunately Mohammed Muntari came on in the 72nd minute to replace Almoez Ali.
and Almoez Ali previously had two chances but it's a shame he didn't look eager to play, he should have had the passion to pick up the ball when it was passed in front of the Ecuador goal.

I guess that is it for the first game in the world cup and Ecuador have got there first win of the world cup Qatar2022. Qatar's performance was bad, although they sort of improved in the late second half, trying to get good recoveries on loosed ball but, that ain't enough to get them back into the match (A friend said, they were more focused on preparing the arenas for the world cup and not doing much on there team, lol).
Anyway, Qatar isn't a footballing nation and we shouldn't be expecting much of them but they should have gotten a consolation goal at least. They came quite close from a through ball to Mohammed Muntari but, it was over the cross bar.

The host Qatar lost 2-0 against Ecuador in their first match. Elen Valencia was pretty good and carried her team in terms of score. I liked his 2nd goal very much, he sent the ball with his head into a very dead spot, Valencia is a really experienced striker. I met him in Fenerbahçe in the Turkish league this year, he is a striker who scored a lot of goals in the league, I was expecting that he would definitely score in this match, I can say that he made an extra contribution with two points. With what i have seen in the match today, it's obvious that Qatar that the possibility is there for Qatar to be out of the match, the way I'm seeing things, i taught that at least they will score 1 goal after for the second half after adhering some of advice from the team, but the match still end with the initial score which Ecuador 2:0 Qatar, that's to show that Qatar will be out of the league through their performance, because in their next matc, i don't think that they will pertake or participate well to actualized their target.

To me this only shows that there are things in the world that money can't buy and that's talent. You can have all the money in the world, but it's not enough to have a team that can compete with the best football national teams in the world. Simply as that. They were preparing their national team but they started only when Qatar was confirmed to be the host. 10 years is not enough time to build the national football team to be among 32 best teams.

Ecuador are the weakest team of the group to so I wonder if Qatar will pick up any points in the group stages? It's no longer a debate that Qatar shouldn't have been the host of this world Cup but we shouldn't point fingers at them only FIFA corruption lead to this.
With said Qatar are not going to be the first host nation to get eliminated from group stage, South Africa in 2010 were the first. Although Qatar are the first host nation to lose an opening match.

With Qatar current performance, I don't think they are going anywhere in world cup, their performance is very weak, they are not coordinated, they don't even have any short on target yet, I believe Ecuador is still going to score more goals in second half. I think Ecuador coach should substitute Valencia because I notice they are trying to injure him, since they are already leading with two goals, they should just reserve him for their next match.
Never before has a host country lost in the opening match. Qatar had 2 good chances, but that was it. The teamplay was not good, they won't score a goal with that. You couldn't really hear the atmosphere in the stadium on the TV, but it was loud during the goals. Psychologically, the motivation is broken after losing the first game. Jump to:
