After seeing Inter Miami, it would have been nice Al Nassr too; maybe we would have had the Messi and Ronaldo comparison to spark up the competition.

I see another competition that Chelsea can win, but hopefully it is not to the detriment of their Premier League season that is good so far, and they look like they will be able to secure a Champions League spot for next season.
I was also having the same feeling that we would probably see Al nassr too, maybe during the competition they could play against each other and for sure it would be their last dance together but it not happening as Al nassr isn't not qualified to be in the competition. They would have been a big spark in the competition and it would really have give the competition more attention.

I can say you are a Chelsea fan. There are some many top European teams in the competition also, the likes of Manchester city, real Madrid, inter Milan and so many more. I know for such it a competition Chelsea will take serious and seeing the group stages fixture I see Chelsea qualifying already from that group. Chelsea are currently doing well in both their domestic league and in the conference league so you can also say they might be favorite in winning the competition.

i had no idea what the angel Ophanim was, so i had to look that up. it does look similar. but i think it's closer to an atom, with the nucleus (center plate) and electrons (the 3 rings) orbiting around it.
the design is cool and definitely unique compared to past trophies, but i can't be the only one who thinks it looks like something from a video game.

you can explore it in 3d here if anyone curious: https://www.fifa.com/en/tournaments/mens/club-world-cup/usa-2025/trophy-explore
So it's a record that opens and closes? That's cool, it seems unique and innovative, but it's still strange, it's just a matter of getting used to it.

My first impression was that it looked very similar to the disk that NASA sent into outer space a few years ago, containing relevant information about human culture, such as music, images, the location of planet Earth, etc.

Other than that, I thought it was very pretty, in extremely good taste, and it's an item that looks more like a decorative item than a trophy in itself.
yeah, they've to update that information, 'cause many years have passed and a lot has changed.

The British newspaper "The Athletic" reported on Tuesday that the International Federation of Association Football "FIFA" is studying the position of the next two versions of the Club World Cup 2029 and 2033.

According to the British newspaper's report, the International Federation is studying holding the 2029 Club World Cup in America, indicating that "FIFA" seeks to maintain American sponsors until the 2029 version.

The newspaper added that the International Federation is considering granting Saudi Arabia the right to host the 2033 Club World Cup, in preparation for the Kingdom hosting the 2034 World Cup.

It is noteworthy that the United States hosted the Copa America last summer, and is hosting the 2025 Club World Cup in addition to the 2026 World Cup, and is also scheduled to host the Los Angeles Olympics 2028, and the Women's World Cup in 2031.

What do you think of the new FIFA Club World Cup trophy? Its shape is similar to the angel Ophanim.

I personally think they should have kept it the way it was or created a similar one, I don't think it's in keeping with the purpose of this competition.

According to news that I've read the inspiration mainly comes from NASA's Voyager mission, the periodic table, navigation maps, etc[1]. Although for me it's just a circle with multiple images on top. I don't really have a strong feeling against or for it though. I don't see any problem with this design if they really want to mash many things together to show its inclusivity.

Hmm that's a really interesting insight, it does look like an atom but of course we haven't really seen atom but looking like the diagram they show about an atom in school but I suppose an atom is supposed to be having protons and neutrons too? Or have the representation changed.

Well it also looks like the bundesliga trophy and that's because of the nature of whole set up but I feel does have extra additions to it but no doubt it's beautiful.

My favorite club (Flamengo) can finally play against European giants, although in recent years Flamengo has been in decline (or bad lucky). Maybe with coach Filipe Luis, who is young and has a winning spirit, things will change, because the last coaches we had were nothing but disappointment after disappointment.
Flamengo is in the same group with Chelsea which is the club I support especially from the fact that none of my country club made it this far. Is good to know Filipe Luis is now the manager of this club. It will be a reunion with him with his former club in the EPL which was Chelsea, I still remember he had a brief spare with Chelsea. Although they still have a high chance of making it pass group D, since there are 2 teams qualifying from each group to the next stage.

I remember when Filipe Luis played for Chelsea. He was a reserve and was very disappointed with José Mourinho for not playing, but he really wasn't doing so well defensively at that time. As for his career as a coach, he has been demonstrating a way of working that has been very pleasing to the fans. It's a style very similar to what Jorge Jesus did during the 2019 season, when he reached the Club World Cup final playing on equal terms with Liverpool.
Indeed his spare at Chelsea wasn't has he wanted but he returned to his club Atletico Madrid where we got him after a season.
I haven't been following up much on him after then and didn't know he has become a coach at Flamengo. Chelsea will have a club legend reunion in that game, which is David Luiz. Realised he is playing here and will be play against the blues again, I anticipate this game more.

Chelsea last played against Brazilian teams in 2022 against Palmeiras, one of the best teams in Brazil. I'm really looking forward to this championship. It's not every day that we get to see Brazilian teams playing against the big European teams.
I remembered when Chelsea lost the club world Cup final time Corinthians, it was a really heartbreaking one, especially from the fact that it took us almost a decade to win our first club world Cup and then we defeated Palmeiras during competition. Although Corinthians didn't get to this stage while Palmeiras has a chance of moving pass this stage, since their group is not too difficulty, they just need to make good use of every opportunities they have on every match.

I remember that, it was 1-0 with a goal by Peruvian Paolo Guerrero. After that, this player went to Flamengo and didn't stand out very well. He still plays football today, he's at Alianza Lima.

Filipe Luis, after arriving at Flamengo, won several titles and was very important for this champion generation that was Flamengo. He did very well and stood out a lot. David Luiz is in negotiations to extend his contract, but it's an election year at the club, so he's waiting for who will be the new president to continue the negotiations.

I have no questions about Chelsea, but how the hell Salzburg qualified there? Because I can't remember that they achieved something big in Champions league or they have high UEFAranking.
Salzburg was ranked 18th in UEFA four year ranking and they could qualify for the 2025 world cup thanks to the restriction of two clubs per country.
You can see UEFA four year ranking here: https://www.fotcalc.com/4-year-ranking

If there was no restriction for number of clubs per country, we could see Liverpool, Leipzig and Barcelona instead of Benfica, Juventus and Salzburg in FIFA club world cup.

UEFA has 12 slots in the tournament.
Chelsea, Real Madrid and Manchester City qualified for the tournament as the winners of the last 4 editions of the champions league and the other teams qualified through their four year ranking.

Nice nice, thanks for shedding some light on my question. I did a little reading of my own on their Wikipedia page. I knew about the competition when Liverpool won it in 2019, just didn't invest time to learn more about it.

Well, I'll be looking forward to it and follow the tournament this time to see how it plays out even though I would've loved to see my team there. But since City, Chelsea and Madrid are there, it should be fun.

The Brazilian League seems to be the one that sent the most representatives to the Club World Cup this season. At least they sent 4 teams, namely SE Palmeiras, Botafogo, CR Flamengo, and Fluminense FC. and Corinthians became the most successful Brazilian club that was able to win the Club World Cup title twice, but it is very unfortunate that this season the club is not included in the list of participants in the Club World Cup. And the last trophy they got was in 2012, this was the last year that a Brazilian club was able to win the title.

and with so many Brazilian teams participating this season, I hope one of them can win the title.

On the other hand, Real Madrid is the team that has won the most and dominated this competition, but currently the team's condition is not good, and maybe this will be a fairly difficult season for Real Madrid to get the title.
It would be great if a brazilian team won this title, although i think the chances are slim, as there are many strong European clubs and the competition has become much more competitive than it used to be.

But nothing is impossible, in the world of football anything can happen.

When the initial list went live on X, a lot of people had questions about how Chelsea qualified when teams like Liverpool, City and Arsenal were much better last season and didn't make the cut.
I have no questions about Chelsea, but how the hell Salzburg qualified there? Because I can't remember that they achieved something big in Champions league or they have high UEFAranking.

After seeing Inter Miami, it would have been nice Al Nassr too; maybe we would have had the Messi and Ronaldo comparison to spark up the competition.
It would be interesting, but Al Nasr haven't achieved anything in AFC Champions league in recent years, so, there was no chance for them to qualify.

Yes, the Brazilian teams are definitely kind a of force to be reckoned with base on their performance , we have five teams qualify this tournament from Brazillian league, Flamingo ,Boca Juniors, Fluminense, and Botafago will also do well in the 2025 tournament,  furthermore,  we will have club like inter Miami from USA to challenge any of the European clubs due to the presence of Argentina Lionel Messi. Would be an interesting tournament to watch it's games.
Man, since when Boca Juniors turned into Brazilian team. With this post you risking to offend fellow Argentinians here Cheesy

This tournament promises to be an exciting one. Inter Miami with Messi will be up against top European sides adding to the thrill of the tournament. With how their group is set up, they should be able to get to the knockout phases of the tournament.

How much attention do you think clubs will give the tournament?

I see another competition that Chelsea can win, but hopefully it is not to the detriment of their Premier League season that is good so far, and they look like they will be able to secure a Champions League spot for next season.
The tournament will not be taking place in the middle of the season as before, but in the summer break between this season and the next.

That is something I have always wanted to see, a so called "Champions League" of all continents together and I think it is a great format for this one, I am not sure if I have seen this before, I have seen those tournaments between good teams playing in USA and I don't know if it was this tournament yet that was with lower amount of teams. I love to see a Flamengo vs Dortmund game which is about to happen here, I love to see Brazilian football clubs or Argentinian football clubs fighting against Europe great guys like Manchester City and alike teams. This is definitely needed and good for betting, over 2.5 goals should be easy to get in such type of games where team of different continents face each other.

From the results of the draws for each group it obvious that we have the big team's in Europe in each of the group  which gives me a sense of humour and whim that all the big boys like Real Madrid, Manchester City, Juventus, Borussia Dortmund,  Inter Milan, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain,  and FC Porto are mostly going to get through the group stage. For this reason, I am inclined to believe that this tournament is going to start getting interesting and classy from the round of 16 when most weak clubs must have bowed out at group stage.

I read that Donald Trump who would be sitting as US President by then would likely give an open speech to the opening of the tournament. I am thrilled to hear what his speech would be, I love to see that man speak in public.

it's good to see inter Miami being featured in this club world cup and we get to see Messi playing again with this current generation of super stars that he inspires. it would have been more exciting to see his rival participate in the tournament but it's certainly not happening since Al Nasir isn't part of tournament. with the teams in the tournament, inter Miami won't even go far even though they might scale through the group stage. With Dortmund, Chelsea, real Madrid, man city, Bayern and Milan all fully represented in the tournament, it is going to be a tough one for them to scale through these guys knowing that the Saudi pro league is far less intense compared to what's going on in the premier league, LaLiga and Bundesliga.

group stage might not really be too fierce but once they key teams we are all looking out for successfully gets out of the group stage and gets featured against themselves, that is going to be when the tournament has started fully. for Chelsea that are not in a tough league other than the premier league and that are looking forward to the champions league in the coming season if the make it to top four at the end of the season, performing well in this tournament will give them an idea on how the champions league will look like if they qualify for it.

Liverpool will not be playing in this competition, nor will Barcelona, which are great teams and if they were in this competition, it would make things more competitive. But looking at the teams that are in this competition, I would say that it will be an interesting competition, because there will be African teams that will play against European teams that have African players and we will also see cases where there will be African teams with a very low financial condition compared to the European teams, so it will be interesting to see if the African teams can win and go far.
