Luis Suarez: Barcelona say they have signed Liverpool striker.
Players in Spain, be careful, human shark is coming Smiley
On serious note, Suarez is great player but have some problem he have to solve if he want to continue his great soccer carrier.
Time will show is Barcelona made good or bad choice with him.

Barcelona included a clause saying if he bites someone during a game, he will be fired without any right.

Source?

I believe you will find that the clause was a pay reduction from £10mm a year to £7mm a year.

Real Sports (on HBO) did an interesting piece on countries that host the world cup, and how it financially affects them afterwards. It's pretty crazy how all the stadiums that were built for games are rarely ever used again. I guess one of them in Brazil this year cost $270 mill to build and was only used for 4 games total (with no plans for the future)

That's why the ordinary Brazilians rioted for days even before the games started. But IMO, I believe that the long term effects will be net positive. The event itself attracted millions of tourists, a large number of whom will recommend Brazil to their friends and relatives. And the stadiums were built by the local firms, using local employers.

Tallking of qatar hosting the world cup, all the player have to work hard for playing in a hot weather.....

Would be cool if FIFA could move it, I hope they move it to the USA. I doubt it though.
Thats not gonna happen.

What makes you so sure of that?

Nothing is sure. They would be putting the lives of football fans at risk, if they chose Qatar.
Why would a country that doesn't care about football even host it? Lots of people here don't even know what it is. I'm lucky I come from elsewhere.
Some of us do care. It's just most don't. They are too involved in the fake football where all that matters is how big/fat you are in order to not get owned.

There was 100% proof of bribes to get votes to change to Qatar. If they don't move it I hope the Dutch team boycots the event.

I guess that would make it the first time that something has happened under FIFA as a result of bribery...

I'm looking forward to seeing the Qatari World Cup - I'm intrigued to see how they actually maintain ventilation when it is hot and humid. It's not just about those in the stadium, it extends to hospitality, accommodation, and transport etc.

It is about time that a Middle Eastern country got the go ahead to host a World Cup.

I agree that WC Finals should be placed in any kind of country but I worry a little bit about some countries with strong religious prohibitions which are then put into the laws of the country and enforced on non-religious people.  I don't know if Qatar is like this.  But for example, should the world cup ever be held in a place where say, women are not allowed to attend the matches.  That's just a made-up example.

Yeah I don't think that even FIFA would allow that to happen. I read somewhere that Qatar will be putting 'fan zones' in place that will permit the sale of alcohol. Russia also currently has a ban on the sale of alcohol in stadiums.

I think that it is right that countries and FIFA come to a compromise on matters like this, but anything regarding gender, sexuality, equal rights etc should never come into question between the two.

No-one usually cares about the 3rd/4th play off. I remember the last time the Netherlands played it (in '98 against Croatia after we undeservedly lost against Brazil in the semis after penalty kicks). I didn't even watch the match. I'm not sure why the game for 3rd place is not abolished. I know the Olympic people try to get people to believe that the third place is a prize but it's really not.
I personally did not remember the date of those playoffs until the actual day came.

Possibly but it is fairly stable politically at least, perhaps the heat would be the most serious problem for the World Cup there.
