Game started and France has been firing on all cylinders so far. 1-0 with Greizmann from the penalty spot. The hero for Argentina last time around is today their first villain Marcos Rojo who gave the penalty away. Mbappe for France has just been tormenting the Argentina defense. And France hasn't lost a world cup match for many years in which they scored first, likewise any match so far which Griezmann has scored. All the signs show that Argentina are out today.

^  I hope Argentina starts Dybala.  I mean they have to...
No Dybala, but Messi as 'false 9' (I remember him playing in that position in Guardiola's Barcelona...good times). Di Maria and Pavon as wingers. Sampaoli, the absolute madman, keeps experimenting with the formation right in the middle of the World Cup  Roll Eyes  that midfield with Mascherano and E.Perez in midfield though...

I think France is to favorite to win against Argentina. Even though they also did not play that good, but I think the team of France is stronger and has a better team than Argentina. Argentina only really has Messi and if he fails, the whole team will fail.

Messi has to do something today and ensure that he gets back his old form and start scoring goal.
What "old form"? He's never been the type of players who scores a lot of goals in the WC, in fact, Messi has never scored a goal in the knockout phase of a WC (and he played in 3 World Cups, this is his 4th world cup). I don't think they're gonna need him to score today, they have Higuain, Pavon, Di Maria, etc for that, in order to win today the team needs Messi the playmaker.

Messi has bad performance with Argentina national team and it is very different when he played at Barcelona. I wish he will be able to change those bad performance at world cup, this time.

Lionel Messi most probably would be taking retirement after the end of Argentina's journey in the World Cup. I want this little man to play as much as possible so I'd want Argentina to win France this time at least for this person.
I can't even recollect how many times Messi has retired? He is a fake news! The little man doesn't decide if the team would win the World-Cup. They are taking an "L" today Smiley

France too consist of youth and energetic players but they still need some time to excel their playing skills and they have.
They at least have a team play. Argentina sucks as a team. I mean apart from Messi, they have no good players.

Germany going out was a huge shock, but their performance was very average ultimately. The games are too close or hard to call for me today. Best bet would probably be to go both teams to score if I was going to place one but I won't be. I'd rather just enjoy the game. Maybe Ronaldo and Suarez to score and Messi and Griezman would be worth something also. I hope an underdog goes on to win the whole tournament as none of the big teams have impressed. Croatia would be a good choice and I think the have the team most people will under estimate.

Belgium where are you? *wink wink*  Grin In my honest opinion Belgium is the underdog that deserves the most to win the whole thing out of all the other 'favorites'. As we have already seen some favorites have been performing poorly or flat-out flopped like Germany so yeah big names don't mean anything these days haha.

Today all football fans eyes would be on the France vs Argentina. Messi has to do something today and ensure that he gets back his old form and start scoring goal. It will be tough match and most interesting match for me to watch  out for. It will go it extra time to get the winner.

As I said before, if Argentina able to advance to the round of 16 then I will support them in this event. And fortunately, the head to head statistics from both teams, Argentina seems to be better than France.

Japan joining the top 16 is an upset yet it would be hard for them to advance. But my bet will be Japan beating Belgium in this round. What do you guys think? Would it be the smaller Japanese beating the bigger belgians?

Nah dude there is no way Japan is going to beat Belgium. The Belgians are on a whole new level. This is probably the easiest free money among all the Round of 16 games haha. I will be betting live in order to catch better odds. But yeah this has free money written all over it  Grin
Fingers crossed  Wink

As per my experience when ever their is a game when we feel that this game the big team will win it, that day either it will go draw or they lose it so always keep a safe bet with the sure bet so that you should be not in loss. It is better that you take both team to score goal in japan vs belgium match which will be safe bet.

It is true that Belgium is have higher quality players and they are favorites compared with Japan, but in this phase every team can win so I give some chance to Japan, let's say it is 60/40 in favor of Belgium.

Croatia have good team, and they win all three games in group stage as one of 2 teams who have succeeded in that (Uruguay). They have problem with yellow cards since half of first starters will miss next game in case they get yellow card in game with Denmark. But I think it is time for them to make some good result in World Cup, they are waiting that since 1998 and third place which they won in France.

Another easy treble today?
Belgium, Mexico, Germany @3.78 Smiley

Not so easy Smiley

Some sweat in the last 15 seconds!

Yep, not an easy game for Germany. I thought after Jerome Boateng got the second yellow card, game was over for them. But luckily they have Toni Kroos who able to score in the last minutes. Now the chance for Germany to qualify to next round is widely open since in the last match they will meet the weakest team in the group, South Korea.
Germany no doubt is one of the best team in the world and we shouldn’t say that it seemed to be a little bit tough game for them. Yeah! The second yellow card for Boating was a breadth taking moment for the Germany fans as well as the team itself because 10 men defending a team of 11 players. But still Germany got everything under control.

Two goals: Germany - Morocco - Egypt - Saudi Arabia - Iran - Denmark - Peru - Australia - Iceland - Serbia - Costa Rica - Poland - Panama

Interesting, so I think that means Denmark are the only team to qualify while scoring less than 3 goals then, and Tunisia were the only team not to qualify even though they scored 5 goals. Next round will be a different ball game, but technically exactly the same ball game  Tongue

As a matter of fact Denmark has their good standing on their players to play in the game. That's why they're able to quality for their gameplay match. In the case of Tunisia, the coordination wasn't established due to lack of team work, and as I've observed their set play wasn't able to meet a strong efforts to drive off their opponents.

Cause if Diego gives Messi a bit of a 'bump' before it starts then his game might be elevated to new heights. Wink
LOL!
The only thing that could happen if Maradona gives Messi a 'bump' is a whole night of drinking and partying.  But Messi better watch it.  Cocaine's a hell of a drug.  Lmao.  Cheesy

Well Maradona does look like a drug dealer with angle shots like

and he can provide Messi with the "pick me up" he needs in his game! Cool

Tunisia's national football team finished its third place in the Group G with three points thanks to a 2-1 win over Panamanian side Fakhruddin Ben Youssef and Wahbi Al-Khazri. The team's attacking streak was the best in the World Cup since Argentina's first appearance in 1987, visiting rivals on five occasions (2 against Belgium, 2 against Panama and 1 against Anquetra), while conceding eight.
The Tunisian team finished fifth in the best line of attack in the first round of the World Cup, ahead of teams such as Argentina, France and Mexico, who ensured their passage to the final of the World Cup, and came in first place for the teams that withdrew ahead of the team Germany, Serbia and Peru, Brazil, Portugal and Uruguay.
Here are the best lines of attack in the first round of the World Cup:
Most teams scored goals in the group league
- 9 goals: Belguim
- 8 goals: Russia - England
- 7 goals: Croatia
- 6 goals: Spain
- 5 goals: Tunisia - Uruguay - Portugal - Brazil - Switzerland - Sweden - Colombia
- 4 goals: Japan - Senegal
- 3 goals: Mexico - South Korea - Argentina - Nigeria - France
Two goals: Germany - Morocco - Egypt - Saudi Arabia - Iran - Denmark - Peru - Australia - Iceland - Serbia - Costa Rica - Poland - Panama
Tunsia had just small chances for them to qualify for the second round i know if they draw against england they wouldn't play so open when they faced Belgium and they propably wouldn't concede 5 goals but at the end England would fought with their teeth and nails to get the qualification card they have better quality players and with Kane in their ranks it will be the reasons for them to progress further i'm sure he will be one of the strikers to shine in this tournament to be honest other then him and Lukaku there were not many that impressed in that position also England are in open way to the Semie finals are they will propably face either Spain or Croitia before heading to the final.
