Uninstall the anti-virus and check your control panel then go to programs. Do uninstall what you suspect that have brought you that. If nothing happens and it's still in there, the plugins/extensions could be the culprit from the browser you use.

Absolutely. Those fines that will be charged by SEC are just pennies compared to what he earned in the past few years here in the crypto world and even continue to gained profit as of this writing. On the other hand, McAfee have helped making crypto popular to people though in a bad way but at least people now knows whats is crypto all about.

I don't think many people will understand the whole situation. I bet a lot of people will still have the perception that crypto is used to avoid taxes and other money laundering activities. But his earnings are really overboard. I remember one project that I promoted way way back, endorsed by McAfee. I think they only used his name and he was just paid to use his name as front. Remember those tokens or ICO projects before, they always put in their title thread - like endorsed or backed by McAfee. I also believe he can easily get away from this, paying the government by small portion of those easy earnings.

I can garner a guess that you're one of those his crypto calls destroyed their fortunes. I remember what he did with PIVX and GHOST and how he abandoned his numerous fans in the lurch. It was really pathetic. Those coins plummeted within minutes as soon as investors got wind that McAfee was leaving the projects. I hope he pays for his numerous crypto sins.

He wasn't just a bad influence in the crypto industry, he has a zombified influence on his followers to the point that they easily would think he's always right whenever he made a call. No questions asked, "just do it" kind of stuff because McAfee says so.

Maybe you browse some website that contains same kind of advertisement. Most of the pop ads is due to aware or smart ads that detects user that browse same kind of topic. IMHO, we can't guarantee that all his shit business and hype advisory will stop because he has people that running his fraud business. He is a smart guy and I believe he will just bail out soon.

I dunno if I will be happy on this news. Because this incident shows that crypto is a safe haven for people who are evading tax. SEC might tighten rules and regulations again for crypto user.

I understand but, it does feel good to finally see him pay for his actions. I lost a good chunk of money with his endorsed projects first with SETHER, and then with another project don't even remember the name lol.

Well, it's not just you buddy. A lot of people trusted projects where he associates himself and he always leaves the project after profit. He had abandoned a lot of projects where some really has a good potential. I think this is a well deserved karma for him.

a few years ago when I tried to invest in some project, the "McAfee Factor" is became a reference for me (I'm sure many people did it too) but then what happened with the project? with most of the projects endorsed by that old man?

I don't blame McAfee in my case, as it is purely my fault. But imagine if the project was not endorsed by McAfee at that time, it is very likely that I will not invest in the project.

Earlier, there was information that John McAfee had problems with the tax authorities. He had already somehow hid on a yacht to avoid being arrested for tax evasion. In my opinion, McAfee should have made good money and solved his problems with the tax authorities relatively easily. Sooner or later, it should have happened. Looks like John McAfee was taking this issue too lightly. Well, everyone should be responsible for their actions.

I also got rekt by the Sether scam which he endorsed, but I can't be happy that he got arrested, tho. In the end was our decision/risk to put our money into that ICO. Further more we won't get our money back with his arrest.
