I'm a big fan of firefly.

But sha?  You got to be kidding me. Congrats, you just killed the coin from beginning.

Just for a different view. I like that FFC is SHA256 coin. there is a problem of the network gets flooded with ASIC miners chasing the 'Most profitable coin' of the minuet. but growth of the coin will lessen that effect.

So, what this coin needs is an app to enable secure device-to-device trading, possibly with a full time server to facilitate the trades.  This way FFC could be used at scifi conventions and even costuming and gaming stores.

We need to focus on a market and develop a service for that market.

Yes, a newly designed website could be crucial to the appeal and usefulness of the coin- and a hub for the community which just might form around FFC.

Don't lose heart yet, Jude.  I can imagine a future where you tell an interviewer the story of how you just meant the project to be a fun, short term experiment which blew up into a fantastic opportunity.

I would give back but I don't rly have much at the moment.  I'm waiting for my 50gh which should have in a few weeks.  Maybe then I can contribute.  Your coin is on an exchange and seems to be doing really well so I wouldn't be crying too hard or give up just yet.

If there is a way to make legit services, like being able to obtain gold/silver/electronics, or even food maybe for coins such as these would bring more value.  How to achieve this? I don't fucking know haha but it's better than some stupid gambling website or some of the other things I've seen some of these alt coins have that look shady and jenky as shit.

Plus, newbs like me with less than 2 ghs can't even get a bitcoin in a reasonable amount of time, so having coins such as FFC gives us a gateway into the bitcoin world.  That in itself gives it value.

I have a really small mining setup (yesterday I got 4 asic chips and now I'm up to 2+Gh/s), and I've only mined about 600 coins (and sold none of them), but if I can, I'd like to help.

You have a lot of potential here and it would be a shame to see it die.

What do you need?  What is your vision?

My vision is simple.

Let the community work as a community to make this coin successful.

If the only use for FFC is to mine and dump, it will die quicker.

Like I said, if I just paid for everything, what keeps the connection?

If people have an idea or service they want implemented involving FireFlyCoin then as a community should raise the funds or any resource to acquire what they want.

I have no problem investing my own money either, but I don't invest to be the bag holder. In essence I don't want to put a wal-mart in the middle of the desert, ya dig?

I have been slacking lately in terms of FFC, I can admit that.

But the coin is fully functional and on an exchange, it has its issues, like with the build_detect permissions, but that really doesn't affect the function of the coin.

I will be releasing an update soon with the permissions fixed and a checkpoint, perhaps an installer for Windows clients.

The first goal I want to accomplish with FireFlyCoin is the new website.

Why?

First and foremost so I have a basis upon which to expand. I don't want to start adding services and more function to a pretty much undeveloped website. Integration would be easier if we had the new website in action, both aesthetically and technically.

Second, pretty sells. When people first get introduced to FireFlyCoin and visit the website they see something pretty and it holds their interest longer than some jank ass website, like now, lol.

Third, in my mind, it will help bring value to the coin.

This is my rant, lol.

I am kind of giving up hope.

Not a single person, except maybe 2, Mogrith, and one other want to give anything back to the development of FFC.

What good is a community when the only people involved are the people mining it and selling the coins for BTC?

Not a single person has offered anything but pools for FFC.

If I paid the way for everything then what is the purpose of me having users?

The reason I made this coin was that so the people could get involved and make it something decent.

But nobody wants any involvement.

I was hoping people would re-invest their FFC so that we could upgrade the website, add new services and features.

That way when people put their funds towards it they feel they are part of something and helped create something.

I never mined FFC, the only coins I ever had were from the pool fees.

I didn't make a killing creating this coin and I am not going to spend anymore of my money on it.

If you want to see stuff happen, then invest a little, then come talk to me.

In over two months this error is sill in the github sources ... why ?  And why doesn't the dev at least change all the references to bitcoin to his own fireflycoin ?
[/quote]

Yeah, I think a lot of folks are waiting to see whether the dev takes his own coin seriously.

It's a cool concept, great logo & fantastic potential support in the scifi community, but it needs a little
more work to be solid.

Unable to compile. Any help please?

Code:
~/FireFlyCoin/src $ make -f makefile.unix
Building LevelDB ...
/bin/sh: 1: ./build_detect_platform: Permission denied
make[1]: Entering directory `/home/naix/FireFlyCoin/src/leveldb'
Makefile:18: build_config.mk: No such file or directory
make[1]: *** No rule to make target `build_config.mk'.  Stop.
make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/naix/FireFlyCoin/src/leveldb'
make: *** [leveldb/libleveldb.a] Error 2

Sorry about that!

Do this:

cd ~/FireFlyCoin/src/leveldb
chmod +x build_detect_platform

Then try to make again.

There are two groups of miners. one is mining FFC all the time. The others are price jumpers they use webpages to monitor exchange price and diff.  When diff is low the second group swoops in with high hash rates mines coins until the difficulty rises then move on to another coin. Then dump the coins they just mined on the exchange.

So they are mining UNO  so FFC diff drops then they mine FFC then go on to BET or what ever coin is profitable right then. Then when that coin is trash move on to the next wil FFC slowly recovers then it gets mobbed again. There are pools that switch Coins automatically so the FFC network HashRate jumps up increasing diff with out seeing a pool hashrate increase

Very short term actions. Hours not even daily or weekly trends

The difficulty changes on this coin are absolutely ridiculous! Can anybody explain how come the difficulty oscillates so much? It's been swinging between 2,000 and 80,000 all day, but you'd kind of expect it to settle somewhere in the middle...
