Clearly you don't get how gravity works, if earth stops rotating and orbiting the sun then it goes or better say it drops into the sun because everything has an invisible sphere of gravitational pull, so the second you enter that sphere from any angle, you need to move in high speed to avoid collision and when right before launching to space it keeps pulling you until you establish an orbit and if you are not round shape or sphere shape then after few thousands orbiting around the sun, you'll become round and sphere shape.

Oceans are not sticking to the ground even with earth's gravity the atmosphere pressure also helps and actually sun's gravity plays an important role in doing something to the water on surface like strangling the earth by attracting oceans and with earth being spherical and rotating and moving with incredible speed the process just never completes not to mention moon's role in pulling water up opposite what sun is doing to balance the scale for earth not to be crushed by oceans and not to lose her water into the sky.


It all goes back to physics, if you have an understanding of how it works then you'll know what I'm talking about.
