Voted for a decade. Ethereum's pos migration is not enough and anyway bitcoin dominates the market, I just don't see this flippening happening.

I am optimistic for both bitcoin and ethereum in the long run but I got to be honest that I believed in ethereum more than in bitcoin because ethereum is really a good platform where people are building different projects and applications. If the team of ethereum will completely finish all their upgrades on time then it would be easy for ethereum to overcome bitcoin in terms of marketcap.

I have a lot of respect for Eth but i don't think Eth can outshine BTC when it comes to market cap. The dominance of BTC will be difficult to break bt any coin.
We can not know how the future will come. Even if there is any possibility, it will take a lot of time for the ethereum to defeat the current bitcoin dominance. This power won by btc for years will not be lost in a short time. In fact, when we compare both, ethereum is always taking new steps in development, but on the other hand btc is btc.
Btc will make its own moves and keep its distance from the other projects, there's no doubt that it will move forward and bounce itself back.
ETH might move also but like what you have said BTC is BTC and most of the traders and investors will follow this coin first than following
those alternatives which comes from behind.

I think the price of Ethereum used to rise fast because it often appears its ICO using the ERC platform. Almost a week could appear in some projects that only aim to find profit quickly. And at the death of ICO or too excessive price of Ethereum also came down later. I think actually because of demand buyers more first when wanting to buy ICO using ETH so the price is quite expensive. I think also next year can reach a high price again when demand more and more used for better transactions, safe and fast.

That argument that goes BTC is BTC is a million dollar argument. I think that is the most convincing reason why people will chase after BTC more than just other altcoins in the market. So many altcoins are much better than BTC in many many ways. There are better altcoins in terms of scalability, in privacy, in fast transaction but still Bitcoin is the name above every other name in crypto. ETH will have to settle down on a lower spot.

Not to be pessimistic about ETH, I know that the development of ETH is very good among all altcoins including bitcoin.
But that is not enough to defeat the dominance of BTC in the market with a capitalization that is 8x greater than ETH. ETH rated only the top 2 is already a very great achievement.

I don't foresee ETH ever overtaking BTC. Now it may do well (and hopefully better than currently) but there is too much ground to make up to surpass BTC. A flippening of sorts is always possible years from now, but it'd likely have to be a coin not even introduced yet.

Ethereum Gets Another Big Development Boost From Ernst & Young
https://cryptonews.net/252607/?utm_source=CryptoNews&utm_medium=app&utm_campaign=shared

ETH is getting closer to PoS mechanism and this could boost ETH value to new highs, with BTC having halving in a six months period, what do you expect in near future or a long term, do you think that flippening (ETH marketcap to overcome BTC marketcap) is possible within 2021?
With the POS implementation on ETH blockchain its still not enough to beat BTC in terms of marketcap, ETH is not the only altcoin that switched from Proof of Work to Proof of Stake and they never did better than before but since ETH is the world second best it will actually push ETH up to another level

If you're talking about flippening of Bitcoin with any altcoins, That certainly won't happen. The #1 position will always be BTC, Rest of the positions might change. ETH has lost it's fame, With ICO going out of the business there's no buying pressure, It sure will increase but not reach it's ATH.

Eth is one of the most successful altcoins from the beginning to the present. If the later update can solve the current problem such as scalability, it could be that in 2021 the price will skyrocket, but to touch ATH I'm not sure. To be sure, as long as bitcoin is not exposed to negative issues continuously, the future of crypto will definitely improve.

Usually when people start to talk about flippening, end of the bull season is near, but that's usually combined with low bitcoin dominance. Maybe this is an indicator of an altseason then Smiley. Anyways, flippening has been talked about since the start of altcoins, and will never happen imho, unless something really spectacular comes along and even then it would take at least over 10 years to convince it's secure enough. And even then btc would have so much more trust on it, i can't see anything beating it.

will only increase the volume and precision of prices significantly, but will not touch bitcoin at all, it is possible when eth touches their ath again and starts to maintain it, but PoS is not something that will make a big difference. I personally appreciate this coin, but there must be a lot of improvement in their smart contracts if they want more dramatic developments.

We all are hoping for the price to increase in the coming year or so. Ethereum price have been swaying around this current price for a while. The increase might not be the same as the past couple years, or it might be hard to reach another ath. But having a price increase even for a bit is good enough for a start. Considering we're going to see another developtment, it's no wonder we're expecting a great price.

As for surpassing bitcoin marketcap, it's kinda hard to imagine. We'll see it eventually, whether it will overcome it or not.

My hope is still up for Ethereum to increase in price in the coming years but I doubt that it will surpass Bitcoin. Bitcoin will always be the king and you will realize that after spending enough time here in the forum. There's no cryptocurrency that could surpass even the "anonymous" monero. Bitcoin has the perfect supply, perfect algo, and perfect set up to be the cryptocurrency that people will love to use.

ETH marketcap or any other altcoin no matter their development or whatsoever can never beat that of BTC. In as much as everyone is impressed about ETH's upcoming switch to POS, it's not a yardstick to compare with the pace setter (bitcoin). It's funny how people keep comparing these altcoins with bitcoin in terms of marketcap and all that, same way someone claimed XRP will beat BTC. All these things sound weird to me honestly.

That is why I cannot say that ETH will be overtaking Bitcoin. There is no flippening that is about to happen. ETH is very active and yet it remains to be just a leader of the altcoin world. It cannot be taking the throne which is solely designed for Bitcoin. Bitcoin will remain to be on top. There is not a possibility of the two exchanging spots. But again both of these coins will remain to be the leading figures in the coming December or 2020 bull run.

ETH developments are happening one after another. The team is very active. The partnerships are overflowing. The continuous integration with other updates are also clearly spelled out in the near future. These are all saying one thing, that there is a very bright future for Ethereum. Bitcoin is also facing the same. Together BTC and ETH will once again rule the bull run.

Nah, I don't that there will be Flippening in the future, I'm not downplaying ETH here. But Bitcoin's price is not achievable for ETH to be honest.

Although there's a lot of developments for ETH in the future, it won't be enough to overtake bitcoin as the top coin.
