I was very surprised to hear this rumor that David De Gea is considering retiring immediately if no top European team wants to recruit him. I think it is quite regrettable if a goalkeeper who can still perform well at European competition level has to retire early at an age that is actually quite a long time ago for a goalkeeper to retire. Moreover, it is strange that with the current situation of several top European teams such as Chelsea or Bayern Munich, which have goalkeepers of inadequate quality, they should be able to get a good goalkeeper like David De Gea for free.
However, other things such as David De Gea's salary per season may be too expensive for them and that could be the reason why they don't want to sign him at such an old age. Do you think David De Gea will retire in the near future or do you have predictions about another team that will sign David De Gea?
But there are other rumors which say that De Gea has been offered to play again with Manchester United and he was previously a goalkeeper with very good performance when defending Manchester United.
Even though Manchester United is currently in a bad phase at least the Red Devils are still a top team.
A fairly expensive salary doesn't seem to be a logical reason and just look De Gea is not the only goalkeeper with a large salary.
Honestly I don't believe the rumors that De Gea will retire early.
It will surely be better for him to go to the Saudi league or even the MLS rather than retire at this age. Especially when he can still perform well as a goalkeeper. I think he has a lot to offer to any team that he will go to. He can definitely offer a lot to any club that is playing in the European competition even as a first goalkeeper. It will actually be very sad to see him retire.
I honestly think that some club is going to approach him. I think there is still capability inside him. Right now, I don't think any club is actively searching for goalkeepers, or actually actively approaching him as a matter of fact. But I think he should be patient.
