I disagree with this narrative, yes Maguire has fallen down the pecking order at Manchester United but it is nothing related to his form or mistakes because Maguire has had an excellent season so far including a good performance at the worldcup too. The only reason why maguire is struggling is because Ten Hag prefers to play a left footed player at the lcb role; which leaves maguire and lindelof as back up to Varane (who has surprisingly stayed fit all season).
Importantly, Maguire is not leaving anywhere on loan this season.
Maguire is still quite valuable for Manchester United, Erik Ten Hag even rejected West Ham United's offer to make a loan.
Maguire is still needed for a backup position in midfield. Maguire, who has made 15 appearances in all competitions this season, is now trying to get into the starting lineup.
The 29-year-old has played the full 90 minutes in just two of Man United's competitive games since the resumption of club football after the World Cup break.
Although Maguire has fallen down the Old Trafford pecking order, Ten Hag has decided to keep him as club captain.
Since joining Manchester United in August 2019, Maguire has provided 7 goals and 5 assists in 159 appearances and he is under contract until 2025 with an option for a further year.
