RUMOR
Finally AC Milan will decide to replace Stefano Pioli. Previously it was rumored that AC Milan wanted Motta. However. According to
Football-Italia.net, AC Milan is currently getting closer to Porto coach Sergio Conceicao. If we look at his coaching history, Conceicao has been quite successful in providing trophies for Porto, with 3 Portuguese League trophies (Primeira Liga) and several minor domestic trophies. Hopefully, with this good history, he will succeed in providing a trophy for AC Milan if this rumor comes true for next season.
Milan planned this because the club was performing so poorly this season. It's time for Acmilan to kick him out of the club. Pioli has no impact on his club. He's a flop now. Several years have passed, and he has not produced impressive results, as opposed to his rival, Simeone Inzaghi, who has consistently won numerous trophies even helped intermilan to leave from the financial problem through developing the talent then sell it.
I believe that the decision to recruit Conceicao is a gamble. Being successful at Porto may not be a good indicator of his suitability as a new coach for Acmilan and this can be the key point for milan to hold that decision. Milan must take careful consideration before hiring him as a new coach caused by the club must try to ensure the new coach will not be another flop. Porto has not yet given greenlight for him to leave. It's still a rumor.
After Villas Boas was appointed as Porto's new president, it appears that the club is unwilling to let him leave. We will be seeing some updates regarding this rumor to come soon.
Even a Portuguese journalist has reported this in the most recent interview and you can read it below.
Sergio Conceição has become a strong candidate for the Milan bench. What is the current situation? We know of a contract until 2028…
“The information circulating – and passed on by outgoing president Pinto da Costa – is that the renewal signed by Sérgio Conceição can be cancelled at no cost to FC Porto and the coach himself, now that André Villas-Boas has taken over as president of the club. Therefore, if the parties understand that it is better to follow different paths, there should be no obstacles.”
Do you think Conceição’s cycle at Porto is over?
“It is difficult to answer that. Only after the announced meeting between Sérgio Conceição and Villas-Boas will it be possible to draw conclusions. The new president has a different project than the one that has been in place at the club until now and we will have to see if it is in line with Conceição’s intentions.”
