The performance of smaller teams this season will continually shock everyone because one wouldn't have believed if told before now that Newcastle would be in the Champions league this season, and say more and more of the recent performances of Fulham and others. These teams have taken advantage of the situation the wild teams have found themselves, in terms of competitions being played which causes less resting times, plus the team's defaults in their physical structure and player's efforts in converting goal chances to victories.
A whole lot has changed in football. The EPL which was tough has become even tougher, La Liga just started getting competitive. It's amazing that the smaller teams are making wave and causing football to be more fun than it used to be. Gone are the days that football in these leagues were one team focused, now all teams have to be watched closely because no one knows where his defeat would lie.
Newcastle in weeks have been doing good, they've been surprisingly excellent in a couple of games that they've been underrated in. They're one team that didn't let the injury situation affect their performance, they were able to keep up with the games and ending them with victories. Even against PSG in both legs of the UCL group stage faceoff, they played in their highness and held PSG to ransom twice. It's just an amazing remark of their performance in football in the past weeks.
Weeks back they lost to Everton which wasn't entirely their fault. They even went on to face City, a team who's also had huge impact on the league table, they did their best to put in extra effort. Any side had the chance to win even though City are doing exceedingly well, Newcastle were the host and they were also able to hold down City's pressure.
And indeed last season was their best performance over the last few seasons, but after that Newcastle lost the confidence and stability of performance that they should have maintained.
From what has gone through this season I would say that Newcastle will return to the way it was before, the only big league that can possibly be participated in is the European League and all of this is also happening because Newcastle cannot keep up with the development of other teams which are getting better.
I think there is only one way to make Newcastle perform optimally with big changes, they have to have the courage to spend large amounts of money on developments that improve the quality of playing performance.
Changing coaches, selling several players who are not so important and bringing in several players with good quality are steps that must be taken by Newcastle because all team have experienced significant improvements in performance.
If Newcastle does not keep up with developments and changes then they will definitely continue to be left behind, almost all leagues have team that have shown quite significant improvements in performance this season.
And next season maybe the competition for Newcastle will be even tougher in the English League and European League if they qualify.
