Memecoins may offer more potential profit than Bitcoin but the key word here is potential. If you buy Bitcoin you are almost guaranteed to profit if you hold for a few years. Memecoins are a murky water of scams, failures & rug pulls. Sure you can get lucky & buy the right memecoins but it can go drastically wrong for you too. It all depends on your level of risk & luck of course.
Bitcoin is a secure investment. As time passes, its value increases and its scarcity decreases. Thanks to its capabilities and widespread adoption, Bitcoin can create a lot of wealth in the long term.

On the other hand, meme coins are investments without solid foundations or guarantees; everything is based on probability and luck... Most enthusiasts of this high-risk investment are just speculators or beginners dreaming of overnight wealth. They either achieve 100x returns or lose their capital due to manipulation or the project team abandoning the coin. They may also either invest in a legitimate meme coin project or be exposed to fraud to a large extent. Sniping the right meme coins is not easy, and you do not know whether this currency will continue its progress or reach zero.

ETH will not have the highest returns among all altcoins. I has bever happened in last 10 years. Every year , there is some new altcoin at number one spot. However, it is hard to spot the coin at early stage. Anyone who can find the winner at early stage can become very rich. But , personally I would stay away from such speculations. Because, there are so many options available and the probability of finding the best performer from these in initial stages to next to zero.

This is where understanding is needed and not thinking. If we enter the market just wanting to gain practical wealth is far from grilled than fire.

Just think about how long it takes to remove zeros from the supply, let's just say Doge so it's easy with the current supply of 144.48B DOGE where previously it had been burned several times. It took 9 years to reach the current price of $0.1637.

If it's another meme... Maybe the supply is higher than doge without a strong backup behind it, it's wrong to become a shitcoint. Grin Grin.

With so much hype about Memecoin, we think it is a top level coin than Bitcoin. But their prices are not fixed. 10x up today, 20x down tomorrow. The biggest thing is trust. We can't trust Memecoin as much as we can trust Bitcoin. One thing is that we only look at who made a profit by investing in memecoin, but we don't look at who lost how much.

I think what the OP means is that we should forget about Bitcoin when "meme" coins provide greater returns in your investment. At least in the short-term. This is by no means indicative that BTC will lose its position as the "King of Crypto". After all, no other cryptocurrency can outmatch the level of security and reliability of Bitcoin. Not to mention, BTC has a limited supply and deflationary mechanism.

I agree with you. OP says meme coins are big gainers bigger than Bitcoin. In fact, some meme coins can provide profits of up to 800% like PEPE in the first quarter of 2024. I was one of those who managed to get profits of up to 300% from PEPE. Bitcoin has hit a new ATH but I think Bitcoin has “only” made a maximum gain of 200% in the last year.

But what must be remembered and is very important is that meme coins will not last long. If you want to be a long term hold I think Bitcoin is still the best. If you want to get big profits, you can bet your money on meme coins.

PEPE coin investors had extraordinary luck a few months ago. Those who bought it at a cheap price had fantastic profits. This year there has been a lot of focus on meme coins so we forgot about bitcoin which reached a new ATH, remember that every investment in meme tokens does not always make a profit but has a greater risk than investing in bitcoin and ALT.

I too was one of the investors that bought PEPE at around $0.00001, I knew it is going to be a huge coin soon as there were too much accumulation occurring on this particular coin with its Trading volume being in top 10 among crypto while the coin itself is much lower in total market cap. I was a bit early in selling though, I sold all of it by the time it reached $0.000015, it was about a 50% profit but it went on rising to $0.000017 and currently trading a bit lower than that. The profit I earned from PEPE were invested on BOME, another meme coin that is being accumulated hugely on comparison to it's lower total marketcap. I already have a 20% profit on Bome but am planning to hold it rather longer to double it.

Well, I have always been an advocate of bitcoin, but right now, I have to agree that some Altcoin, specially meme coins, seems to be doing more numbers in terms of growth percentage when compared to that of bitcoin, but this is not to say that this meme coins will in any way survive if anything happens and bitcoin goes significantly down in price, memecoins, as well as the entire crypto currency Altcoin market will greatly go down as well.

So, regardless of how any Altcoin perform, credit must always be given to bitcoin, even though we all still have the liberty of putting or investing our money where we think will bring us more profit, but then, we must always understand the risk that comes with investing in meme coins, and altcoins in general.

It's not surprising that Meme Coin provides big profits. Because the price is cheap, the price can rise high in a short period of time. However, the thing to remember is that this also applies vice versa. Apart from that, people invest in meme coins because they take advantage of the fluctuations that occur, and the coins may not develop and become a scam. There are many things to consider if you want to focus on investing in meme coins. I suggest using the minimum funds.

Minimum funds for sure.  Playing the memcoin game can wipe ypu out an an instant.  I don't get why everyone thinks just buy memecoins and then boom instant profit.  It's actually pretty much the opposite.  Only one in the thousands will let you hit big.  Those stories come out and everyone thinks their memecoin bag is just around the corner to do the same.

You know you can make your topic and it will be convincing without those first two words in your? Bitcoin can’t be forgotten. Despite the fact it isn’t doing 5x like most altcoins, it is the king. No too much number of tokens and the price is unattainable by any altcoin.

Also, Dogecoin didn’t lose its position as king of memecoins. It still is at the top. Saying “king” doesn’t mean that they are evaluated based on price. Dogecoin started all of what we’re seeing today and yet it’s even a safer memecoin to invest in.

Most of the "meme" coins you see now, will cease to exist in the future. Only Dogecoin will remain because it's the oldest "meme" coin ever created. With a large community following, it will last a lifetime. Besides, the good-old DOGE has Elon Musk's endorsement. Once X integrates DOGE for micropayments, adoption/demand for the "meme" coin will skyrocket. Just diversify your investment to reduce risks of loss as much as possible. Who knows what will happen in the future? Smiley

having bigger gain because lesser market cap is completely normal, imagine a meme coin with 1 million liqudiity, you can just buy up the ask order and the price went up dramatically.
now do the same thing with bitcoin with current recorded trading volume of approximately 19 billion dollar are you sure you can easily pump the price with just measly capital.

meme coin is great due to volatility, but you see once meme coin hits certain fully diluted value, the coin stops having volatility, rather it follows the trend of other big altcoin that have the same if not more fully diluted value which is occasional pump not too frequent but also small enough to just increase 10%, its the pattern.
so really there's no point in comparing between the two, i mean to be real here, had you invested in bitcoin from few years ago you probably would've been millionaire same profit you can get from meme coin if not more.

The big question is: which memecoin will perform best going forward this year? Could we see Dogecoin reclaim its former glory as the king of memecoins? Or will newcomers like Pepe, FLOKI, WIF and Bonk continue to steal the spotlight? I'll like to hear your views...

Look NORMIE now and see the price.

I agree with you. If anyone exchanges Bitcoin for meme coins I think it is a big mistake. Bitcoin is the king of cryptocurrencies and it hasn't been replaced in years. While meme coins like Pepe, Floki and Bonk that the OP mentioned I'm sure they won't have the same value as Bitcoin if they have been around for years. Meme coins usually last about 180 days and after that they are mostly dead coins. Only dogecoin so far is still alive and still has enough market activity to move the price.

When I first saw the title of the thread, I felt something like it's going to be a stupid content because why the hell would you bring bitcoin to competition with memecoins? anyways since I know that's not what exactly you meant I got satisfied with that.

secondly, in the current meme market I don't really know what coin which do best among all the memecoins that we have in the market but they all seems very promising. One thing I will advise anyone is that you don't have to put your 100 percent trust on any memecoins because definitely they will have to disappoint you along the line. but before you get some kind of disappointment you have to first maximise profit.

One of the best brand coins in the world of crypto currency is BitCoin. Can't compare only one brand coin to other new unbranded coins, at least not me. Bitcoin has a brand value that is constantly increasing, and day by day people are showing interest in Bitcoin. What is the position of the coins you mentioned in the market, whether all the coins will hold their value in whatever position they are now, I can never guarantee you. In most cases meme coins have short term futures which we have seen in the past. The position of Bitcoin is evolving day by day and will illuminate the lives of many like a bright star in the future. I want to forget meme coins never Bitcoin.

you can continue believing so. you must have noticed as well that there are Bitcoin Maxist shifting its opinion. idk if they are serious bout it but it sure will make trader happy seeing you sell you BTC for memecoins.

but if you are up for quick profit, memecoins seem to be the coins to go. i think doge is still keeping its position as top memecoin.

Even the time the Op created this thread bitcoin was doing great more than any other memecoins. And if Op was making gains from those memecoins he mentioned then he would have use another altcoins to do the comparison and not bitcoin. There is no altcoin or memecoin can be used to compare with bitcoin but if it is Ethereum or Solana or BNB or dogecoin then I wouldn't say anything because those coins were not doing well in the  market so if someone predict that those coins will overtake dogecoin and others then it would be more reasonable.
And not saying that they abandon bitcoin and invest in those memecoins. It doesn't make any sense and it shows that the Op is still a newbie in the cryptocurrency market.

The memecoin craze has returned in full force, with several meme-themed cryptocurrencies seeing massive gains recently. Leading the pack is PepeCoin (PEPE), which has skyrocketed over 60% in the last 24 hours.

Pepe is a memecoin based on the popular Pepe the Frog meme. It was originally launched in 2013 but gained renewed interest this year as the memecoin market heated up again. The recent price surge has made Pepe one of the top trending coins today, according to CoinMarketCap.

Other memecoins seeing big gains include Wif, FLOKI, SHIBA and Bonk. All doing impressive numbers over the weekend.

The return of memecoin mania also reflects the powerful momentum of hype and virality in crypto. Memecoins often have very enthusiastic online communities that aggressively promote their coin, fueling massive rallies. While memecoin investments are highly risky due to the volatility, the potential for explosive short-term gains is enticing many retail investors.

The comeback of memecoin mania is also indicative of the current bullish sentiment in the crypto markets. With Bitcoin and Ethereum recovering strongly in 2024 so far, investors are more willing to speculate on altcoins in hopes of parabolic returns. This is pushing up memecoins along with the broader altcoin market.

The big question is: which memecoin will perform best going forward this year? Could we see Dogecoin reclaim its former glory as the king of memecoins? Or will newcomers like Pepe, FLOKI, WIF and Bonk continue to steal the spotlight? I'll like to hear your views...

it is impossible to forget bitcoin as memecoin is trending in the market today. However, seeking profits from investing in memecoins is a natural thing to do, especially considering that there are several memecoins that are able to increase rapidly in the market. and we must really take advantage of conditions like this. and I have invested in shiba inu and Doge.
