When you create an Electrum wallet, you're given by default twelve mnemonic recovery words which need to be re-entered to confirm you have backed them up. Only few people with photographic memory would be able to re-enter the recovery words without prior writing them down.

So where's your mnemonic recovery words backup? You very likely had to write the recovery words to some piece of paper. Did you misplace it, did you make a screenshot or any other wrong-doing with it?
All wallets have a confirmation step on mnemonic seed words for users. I am quite sure that most of users will do either write down these words or screenshot, then they can type these words correctly in a confirmation step, before using that wallet.

They maybe did not understand importance of wallet back up so, after that step, they did not store that back up safely and carefully and they lost it somehow later.

Some wallets even don't allow users to make a screenshot with mnemonic seed words displayed on screen. For example, with Electrum wallet, you can screenshot mnemonic seed words on computer but on mobile, you can not do it. If you try to screenshot, you will see "Couldn't capture screenshot". Then there will be only one choice left, typing wallet mnemonic seed words.

You can take a photo by your phone but it's not recommended too. Storing wallet mnemonic seed backup online, one phone is not recommended too.

If you didn't care to write down the wallet encryption password, then it might be something you usually use as some sort of scheme to create your "personal" passwords. Maybe you reused some of your common passwords. Spend some time to think about it. You might need such clues if you intend to brute-force your wallet password with some clever tools that exist. Of course, you must still have the Electrum wallet file, at least.

I won't say yet, you're a lost case, not quite yet.

Be aware that you might be contacted via personal messages by scammers who claim to be able to decrypt the wallet file for you. Most will try to scam you, depending on how much coins your wallet's private keys control.

You didn't tell us if there are any funds there to worry about losing. If the wallet is empty, should we worry, create a new one.

So it's started - as with any bull run, those who remembered that they invested in BTC a few years ago are starting to show up and most of them have a similar problem to the OP. However, it's possible that the OP just considers his wallet to be some kind of bank account that he thinks he needs to access in order to maybe invest in BTC today.

In any case, the OP can try very hard and try to find his seed or password or in case he didn't delete the wallet file, try to brute force the password. If it is about a significant amount, there is a respectable service that may be able to help him - if the password is not too complicated and if he knows at least approximately how long it is and what characters it consists of.

Hey Guys,
in 2017 in opened an Electrum Wallet but i loss the Login and the Seed. Is there any possibility to get these back or to login to my wallet?

Thanks!
If you opened an Electrum wallet in 2017 then today is 8 years since you opened your Electrum wallet and lost your wallet login password for 8 years then I think you can't login to your wallet. If you had written down or saved your wallet password after opening the account, you might have been able to login easily. If you open the account through your mobile you can't recover and if you open the account through computer you can try but don't seem to be able to recover. I want to know if you had any investment in your lost wallet?

As others have stated, it should be considered lost because you do not have a password to open your wallet, a backup seed, or a master private key.

If you remember some parts of your wallet, you may be able to recover it; if not, the chances are slim unless you only use numbers.

If it is worth recovering and you need help recovering your wallet, try the recovery service at https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/bitcoin-wallet-recovery-services-for-forgotten-wallet-password-240779.

If the Electrum wallet is still in that same device, try as much as you can to see if you can remember the password to decrypt the file so that you can view your seed phrase for proper backup; but if you can’t remember the password and the seed phrase, I think recovering this wallet will be very hard for you.

I hope you don’t have much BTC inside the wallet? Because if you have much coins inside the wallet, you will be very serious with the seed phrase, you will keep them very safe and have several backup.

There are two things involved here, if you still have the same device used to login the electrum as at then, then you may only have to use your password that guide the device in other to have access to the electrum app, because your bitcoin is not even stored on the electrum wallet, but on the blockchain, through the wallet, you could view your seeds, but if the devise is gone and you don't have the seed phrase as well with you, then just forget about it and don't let anyone promise you a fake recovery service regarding such, not your keys not your coins still remains valid.

OP stated that the login is lost which clearly means the password to decrypt that file, as such I think the idea of restoring the wallet using the wallet file will prove hard without the password because even if the file is taking to a different device the password will still be used. That’s why the best form of wallet back up is the seed phrase back up. If OP remembers some character or word of the password then he could as try brute forcing it

I suppose he wouldn't have remembered the wallet from many years ago if there was nothing in it. Since 2017, there has been a 2nd impressive growth of bitcoin, which can only mean that there may be quite a good amount in that wallet.
With a first impressive growth in 2020 and 2021 bull run, why did he not remember about the 2017 wallet years ago?

Only OP can tell us the fact, but I am thinking more about a bought wallet from scammers. As said, if it is a bought wallet, forget a hope that there is any bitcoin or fraction of bitcoin in that wallet.

If you have money, buy bitcoin, and don't use it to buy any wallet file or part of wallet seed.

Did you suddenly remember your old wallet after the recent news about the bitcoin growth? Oh, how many more posts like this will there be with each new rise in the price of bitcoin. It's unimaginable to imagine.

If you have lost your wallet access data, you have lost the contents of your wallet. Therefore, beginners should be extremely careful in matters of saving their seed, seed-phrase and other access keys.

You didn't tell us if there are any funds there to worry about losing. If the wallet is empty, should we worry, create a new one.

If you didnt back those seed and it has still a bitcoin I guess this will be considered a lost, always do backup to your wallet if you are having an active transaction on it even the electrum recommends
OP worried that he has bitcoin in that old wallet. If he is sure that there is no bitcoin in that wallet, this thread would never be created.

Chance to know one of addressed used in the past belong to that wallet, is very small, because OP did not back up that wallet, and it's nearly impossible that he saved any public address anywhere, online or offline.

One of most important things to do with Bitcoin: Backup your wallet. If you don't back up your wallet, don't test your back up for recovery, you should never fund your bitcoin to that wallet.

Wallet basics
Quote
  • Do not use wallets that don't give you recovery data; these wallets are likely controlling your keys.
  • Do not use paper wallets unless you're an advanced user who understands all the risks.
  • Do not store large amounts of value in single signature wallets.
  • Make sure your heirs know how to recover your wallets without you!

If you have the previous tx id on your bitcoin wallet you can check it out here on the List of useful Bitcoin block explorers to know if it has still at least value on it.

Sorry to hear you lost your Electrum wallet seed. Recovery is tough or even impossible because Electrum prioritizes security and does not have backups or customer support. At this time you may try these options. Check emails and files for backups use password recovery tools though unlikely, because only way is to find you secret phrase. If you don't find this so you may need to accept loss or create new wallet with secure backups. Remember crypto wallet security is your responsibility. Good luck and hopefully someone from Electrum can assist. But the chances are very low.

Like others said if you lost the seed then it's not possible to recover the wallet unless you still have the wallet installed and either it's password protected or not then you can try accessing the wallet which may take time but possible but for that the wallet files should not be corrupted.

You can use btcrecover for brute forcing the password to gain access.

I think what's important is the mnemonic phrase or seed, if you forget about it, then you can't recover if you have some Bitcoin in your Electrum wallet. So I do hope that you learn your lessons here.

For others though, I do practice to write it down and make a back up. And then I have a second device to test and see if I can recover it. So I do that every time I have a new Electrum wallet just to make sure that everything working fine.

Using term "login" isn't accurate, since the password actually used to decrypt the wallet file. That wallet file isn't uploaded to any server or website either. But aside from seed, you could use of these to regain access to your Bitcoin,
1. Electrum wallet file. But this option requires you to remember the password or at least most of it to perform brute-force.
2. Private key.
3. Master private key (also called xprv).

If you've deleted the Electrum wallet file, you could attempt to restore that file using file recovery software such as Recuva.

What do you mean with "Login"?

I guess it is your wallet password to unlock your encrypted wallet, so you can access your wallet and private key for spending bitcoin.

You did not back your wallet seed so you can not recover your wallet from seed. Now you only have an wallet file, but don't have its password. Password can be brute forced if it is weak, and it is your only chance here.

Next times, always back up your wallet.
How to back up a seed phrase?

If it is not your wallet file but you bought it, you were scammed and even you can brute forced its password, there is no bitcoin in it.

It's not called a login for clarity sake. You can have a password if you want but you must have a seed phrase which is what is used to create your private keys and addresses. the password you create on Electrum isn't directly associated with your seed , it's function is to encrypt the keys in a wallet dat file.
With that being said, do you have your seed phrase? Probably on a paper wallet? If you don't there is no way to access the wallet except you still remember your Electrum password you used back then and you still have the wallet dat file intact. If you still have the wallet dat file and the password you can re install Electrum and get back to this thread for the recovery process.

You did not backup your seed phrase. Sorry, the coin has likely been lost. There is no way you can recover back the wallet. Next time, make sure you back up your seed phrase in two or three different locations.

But try this:
But if it is on a computer and you still have the computer. Download Electrum on the computer and see if you can still be able to access the old wallet. If you can not, maybe data recovery software can help but I do not know much about this. Let us see what other people will post about it.

Be careful of recovery services. 99.99% of them are scammers. Legit ones only get paid after they recover the coin for you. Any prepayment is a scam. Also this is about offline recovery and not online.
