I'm not having any prejudice with Bitcoin gold, however, if I'm giving a chance to choose between Bitcoin and Bitcoin gold - I will definitely go with the first option.

right now bitcoin gold is like a promise of something to happen in the future and nothing more. if the developer decides that it is too much work to actually create this coin, it will no longer exist because it has not yet started! the code is not even complete yet 
the other user said 25-30 days as an estimation of when they may complete the code. i have heard many different dates actually. someone even said it will start in 1 November which is in about 7 days.

It depends where you are holding your funds. If you were holding them on any exchange which supports btg you will be credited with btg within a few hours. If your exchange does not supports it you are going to have a hard time getting it. And if you are on a private key wallet it might take 25-30 days for btg wallet app to come.Fork was been 491407..
