Does the new sound not turn you on anymore and ruin your stroke?  Cheesy Why don't you mute the volume and make the engine noises yourself with your mouth instead?  Grin

LOL , some cars are very sexy, the sound is essential  Grin I'm not good with sound mimicking Cheesy

@ kuroman

Yes, the cars this season are very slow compared with previous seasons. But alteast people can't complain about Vettel winning nearly all races  Tongue
but that will change soon again, once one team figures a loophole in regulation to have an advantage in their design and wins every race again .... Sad

My issue is that F1 has become more of a spec race over the last few years.  Same tires, same fuel, maximum fuel flow rate, etc.  You need a battery powered hybrid to be competitive at all.  The fastest cars come from the teams with the largest budget to work out the best aero.  The result is less innovation that makes its way into road-going cars.

But isn't this the case with most sports that rely on such technology? You could also apply it to other sports like football. The teams who can afford the best players get the trophies.
My issue isn't that the teams with the development money win.  This is the top tier.  They should have the option to spend as much as they want to develop the best car within a broad set of rules.  I can't stand this "you must use the spec tires, that are designed to artificially degrade faster than necessary", "don't rev higher than this", and "don't consume fuel faster than this rate at any point", silliness.

My preference:  Specify overall car dimensions, weight, safety components, tire dimensions, wing area, and total fuel allotment for the race.  Let the engineers work the rest.

Oh, and back on topic Cheesy  I think last year's normally aspirated cars sounded better (although I have not heard the '14 turbos in person yet.)

I liked the days when it as 3L normally aspirated or 1.5L turbo. Cylinders, fuel load, fuel mix, etc were open.  The 1.5L Turbos running something around 75 PSI boost on toluene fuel were insane.   They were cranking the boost up to get ~1500HP for qualifying, but had to dial it back to make it through the race.  There is no coincidence that development of turbo technology for road-going cars was exploding at the same time.

Lol I don't know if I like formula 1 or nascar better. I like mascars commentators more than f1 and also there seems to be more action. If f1 was more like nascar is watch it

You think driving round in circle is exciting or has action? It's only got action when they crash.

Is there a video comparing the sounds of the two, or maybe the sounds throughout the F1 history?

It's a huge change the sounds from 2013 and now 2014

Wow, I'm not a fan of forumla one but that is a big difference. The sound of the engines is kinda iconic and just doesn't sound right.

Why did they change it?

I haven't watched F1 in years, but I guess improvements/changes in engine technology will alter the sound they make. I don't think the engine sound is that important to them to be honest. I'm sure the previous F1 engines sound much different to the ones 10 years ago anyway.

F1 Been dead for me for a while, the cars getting slower and slower, team innovation is very restricted, and basically the one who got a tiny technical advantage in his design wins the championship that's all to it nowadays, cars are not even allowed to touch each other ...ect

It"s nice that security was increased, that's a good thing, but they are killing the show with all the limitations in place nowadays
