I don't think Fortnite is much of an eSports title, it's fine for streaming I guess (though I don't like it personally) but I don't think it'd fit as an eSport.
LoL, DOTA, Overwatch, CS, they all require teamwork, coordination and skills; those are similar traits with classic sports.
But I see Fortnite as nothing more than a single player battle.
Huh  Huh
I don't get your point.
Many sports, and I'd even say most of the sports, are individual in fact, so I don't understand why an e-sport couldn't be individual too? This is the first time I hear that.
There are team sports and individual sports, so why there couldn't be individual e-sports?

There are a lot of esports out there, there's smash bros, Tekken, Smite, Rocket League, and even Farming Simulator is now an Esports, I think as long as it is an Esports ready game, I think it can be one.

lol . seriously ? those are video games on a console ( offline )   . i dont think they are fit to call an esports  .  when i hear the word esports the first few games that pops on my mind are cs go , lol  , dota  , mlbb  ,and fortnite can be a new addition becuase fortnite is also a pc game  .

im not a fan of fortnite but i know how this game works   . a tournament or esports would also be nice because fortnite is a trendy game right

The only problem here is that I don't like Fortnite. Kids, the memes, I think this game is just used by a lot of gamers and streamers to boost their viewers and their popularity. I would love to bet on great players I know but that would not be a bet that I would do usually, I just want to try that out-kind-of-bet. Unless Shroud joins in.

Oh, stuff like this even exist?
A fortnite competition with best players, right?
Does this exist for other games— soft games preferably ?
I had thought of competition like this for popular games, didn't know they are legal or exist

This is really legal and esports industry is growing fast. Games like DOTA, CSGO, LOL are having yearly tournaments with big prize pool. Players with an exceptional skill can have the chance to make their passion a living.

Just this DOTA 2019 tournament where the price pool is already $30m.
https://liquipedia.net/dota2/The_International/2019
Im not surprised that there are still people who arent aware with Esports thing which saying or asking if these things are legal.
Take a look on this link which i have searched it do shows how big this esport was https://www.esportsearnings.com/tournaments

About on sportsbook do offers it then https://www.bovada.lv/ do have it.
We can't blame them though and their interest might not be with esports. They don't know that the industry is raking billions of money and many brands are dealing with organizations to create buzz for their product as a sponsor.

People seem to think that these games are just games and they can't be treated as something real. But now, the world is changing and esports is growing. Fortnite and Dota 2 are the games currently that has the largest prize pool for their tournament, this is real money folks.

I dont see any odds yet but I guessing Sportsbet will offer this?

This isn't available for betting on any of the cryptocurrency accepted gambling websites. You could request to add them through their official Ann Thread. If it is viable for them to add surely it'll get added or else they'll give you clear detail for not adding them to their list.

I doubt this has the volume behind it to truly warrant the crypto sites to add it to their site. This is a celebrity match, and it's nothing too interesting for avid gamblers cause they know this literally can go anyway.

The small niche sites that aren't too reputable are going to take this on at first -- we'll see where it goes from there.

I have a question that what do you think is that these games haven't reached in sportsbooks yet. They are having a good hype at the moment especially Pubg and fortnite. Is it that they haven't reached to that level as like CS,DOTA, LOL or maybe the game is still in development since there are too much bugs and lots of hacks and cheats in these games or other reason?

Sorry OP for kinda making a little out of topic but I really want to know what people think about it.
Compared to those games, I consider Fortnite is on the same level. I think the sportsbook are just listing the traditional and has been adopted earlier. And they are still on that phase of thinking whether they should accept and add Fortnite to their books. About cheats and bugs, I don't think that's the reason, Dota 2 has continuous updates because there are bugs too but they are on the books. In CSGO and Dota 2, you can bet your items which I think has significant impact that the crypto bookies considered them as good market. I don't play fortnite so I don't know if its possible there.

Dota and CS:GO do have their own fair share of bugs in the game even in big major title competitions (a lot from Dota and CS:GO'd moments). Perhaps it's more on the reception of gamblers toward the game, and knowing that it's hard to choose one winner out of the 20+ teams/players on a single match, chances are very low to pick a winner and more often than not, people will lose the bet compared to just straight H2H against 2 teams trying to win it out in a single match.

--

Sportsbet.io and nitrogensports usually offers these kind of lines on esports titles, though I don't think they would offer it this early as there are little to no information available yet for sports books to work on. It would be crazy to see the lines and odds of each players though, especially on the solos match.

I'd take Tfue on the bet, Dubs will be second best.

By the way the only eSports betting site I know is sportsbet and they don't seem to offer a choice for Fortnite (disclaimer: I have no affiliation nor promoting sportsbet, do your own research as to if they're reliable)
fortnite is an fps shooting game that is simillar to counter strike  , crossfire , apex legends , etc . the game is mainly focusses on single player but im sure that there are modes for multiplayer battle and survival modes which requires team play . therfor fortnite can also fit on the esport categoy and have its own tourna but the problem is that the game itself is still new . this could be the reason on why esports betting platform didnt include it on thier games

Ninja is a streamer, Fortnite isnt his main game or occupation afaik but I imagine if he can still enter he would be there as it benefits his viewing figures surely.     Alot of the top streamers are pro players who dont like the business of waiting in airports that competing internationally brings with it, I dont blame them if they make more or as much money just playing to the audience they have already won.

I am out of the Fortnite Community for a long time, but I remember a guy called Ninja that was winning all the tournaments.
Did he stop playing competitive?
If he has changed nickname I would surely bet for him to win it.

I'd be surprised if I found one guy who even heard of WCG from the yessteryears.

Prequalifiers are still on going Except from  NA-West

Here is the list of all players who qualifies

Sorry OP for kinda making a little out of topic but I really want to know what people think about it.

It is because this type of games are completely new and also it's game style which is a battle royale and are actually not famous before. Hacks are also rampant in CSGO but the thing here is that it have already established it's name to the world of E-sports. What I am talking about is the fanbase support. Fortnite just recently made a world cup and it is already slowly gaining popularity. It is actually being added some sports book but isn't yet in the crypto world.

~snip

I know some people that watch matches and take notes during those matches to better their own play or their own team's play, so that could be something you can try with this tournament if you feel like you've plateaued in terms of skill. I play CS:GO extremely often, and though I don't watch every pro match, I watch as many as I can and I can usually take away at least two things that I can implement into my own play like a unique grenade throw or setup for a team play.

Or you can just sit back and watch the action like most people do.  Grin
I think it's best to learn like that, watching videos and just taking note on what to do in the future games that you may have. It's probably the reasons why YouTube is a giant when it comes to video streaming and it's the most common around it. It's great to see plays that you might have never thought of during your playing time.

I think it doesn't stop with regards to just playing games, it is also for life skills like playing the guitar, creating a chair, or something that you could do in your spare time. Tutorials are everywhere, you just have to find the right one.

All I can see about the Fortnite World Cup is that you could watch during the match. I think you can be integrated or somewhat Be Your Character while watching it or whatnot. What a way to increase or add to your attention with your focus. I just know that you can opt-out of watching the match and remove the small window in your monitor.

I think it would be awesome if you were to be integrated there directly and just be part of the match, just like an audience would like in the Harry Potter Movies in the Quidditch matches or something. Lol.

Is a popular game indeed, and also now the gaming industry have a lot of money to offer for good players with skills, i also want to bet on fortnite world cup if i will find a gambling website which will offer it, maybe they will offer some days, as i see will start on 26 July.

https://www.epicgames.com/fortnite/competitive/en-US/events/world-cup
This thread will be updated for sure if there will be someone or a casino that will start listing fortnite to their bookies.
There is overwatch and csgo so I'm confident that once the confidence has been built up for casino's that there will be supporters that will bet for fortnite matches, they will list it without any notice.
