From nothing to nothing

If you don't understand something, ask or have a look at the tens of threads in Meta which you can search for.

For the umpteenth time, activity works as is written in the 'code' :

Code:
time = number of two-week periods in which you've posted since your registration
activity = min(time * 14, posts)

Activity is updated every hour.
There is an 'activity period' every two weeks, starting tuesday. If you manage to make a post during that activity period you 'claim' the activity. But as activity is never higher than posts , to fully claim all of the activity you have to post 13 more times(if you have made a post in the activity period, you can claim the remaining 13 activity any time by posting 13 posts). Once one activity period finishes, another ones starts letting you claim another 14 activity points.

see this user profile he post over 2000 times but his activity is 364 because he was active for one year.his Date of Registered is November 03, 2013 and last activity is October 24, 2014.In 2016 still his activity is 364 because after that he never login his account.

https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/surfer43-156892
The user you linked has an activity count of 364 because he has posted in 26 activity periods.

You could also go back in this thread and see others post the correct explanations  Roll Eyes but nope you have to mislead others

I am sorry I am sure this as been answered before but I am not going to go thur the whole thread to find it but I just logged into my account, since maybe 6+months. Since I did not log in, or make any posts, my activity never increased. But if I understand everything correctly, I should become a sr member (240 activity) in 72 days if I log in everyday and make atleast one post, correct?

Code:
The way activity is calculated:
The activity number is determined in this way:
time = number of two-week periods in which you've posted since your registration
activity = min(time * 14, posts)

Activity is updated every hour.

I was really confused about that calculation how I calculated my activity.after searching some thread and I figured out how simple is that calculation. just read under my 2 line you can understand everything.

"To be active you have to log in at least once every two weeks. To maximize activity, you must constantly be active (log in at lease once every two weeks) AND have a post count greater than or equal to the number of days you have been active.

It doesn't matter when you get your posts. For example log in every two weeks for one year and not post anything, then post 364 times in  a week. your post count and activity at 364."

see this user profile he post over 2000 times but his activity is 364 because he was active for one year.his Date of Registered is November 03, 2013 and last activity is October 24, 2014.In 2016 still his activity is 364 because after that he never login his account.

Yep! I read someone's else post on this forum where he said it's working better the google, tried it only today to search for a topic which I've missed, when BTCTalk's couldn't show me the proper result even with the right term of that thread "Rate my account", I've searched it on google search and it was so accurate.

There, I'll be using google search engine from now on and put a "Bitcointalk" tag in the end for the best results. lol

@Lauda I know it is my duty and I did search for the rules, but this forum's search engine is so bad that it doesn't comes up with the proper results and also it keeps the newbies wait for few more minutes before searching again. But what is the purpose of wait time to searching again when can't find something with the previous tags?  Huh
You don't have to search for the rules; this is why they are 'stickied' within the forum-related section (Meta). We are aware that the search feature does not tend to work as it should; it should be better on the new forum. For searches, you can always use something in the line of Google and you should find an adequate amount of information (e.g.):

While it might not deliver optimal results, it will definitely help you.

I was just lazy, and the 30 seconds to get a response was faster than sifting around.
No. Repeatedly asking the same questions, when they have been answered probably hundreds of times is not the right way to proceed. Not only does this clutter up this thread and the forum, it is also very redundant and time-wasteful.

It's because not everyone are aware of the rules and not that easy for them to find those posts first.
It is your duty, as a member of this forum, to become familiar with the rules. It is quite easy to find them as they are marked as a 'sticky thread'..

true, if i cant understand something here and i cant find it in the forums, i use google , mostly google search can find topics here easier than our own search engine

Onboarding into bitcointalk is certainly not meant for the masses with the way the rules are in place. You really have to work for an account here. What's amazing to me is so many people I know who use bitcoin don't even have accounts here.

it's alright because there are some people with 20 puppet accounts here so i suppose it all evens out in the end.

i cant understand the computation of activity. please explain more detail computation. i'm newbie. sorry for my question.
You don't need to understand it in detail. Simplified:
It updates every 14 days and can increase a maximum of 14 points (if you make => 14 posts in that period).

ahh. ok. it means that the maximum activity gain is 14 within 2 weeks.. the computation makes me confused. thanks

There is a more detailed explanation in this thread here: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/the-definitive-explanation-of-how-activity-works-495948

I found it helpful to understand.

why doesnt my activity go past 52 no matter how many posts ive made?

It's simple , because you get a maximum of 14 activity per two weeks . You should wait for the next activity reset (each couple of weeks) to get your activity higher .

Why do people keep asking about this? I think we should make a video (or something) to make people more understand about this.

It's because not everyone are aware of the rules and not that easy for them to find those posts first.

Even if you make a video and post it somewhere, that'll still be hard to find for them.
