if I remember correctly the activity is counted every 14 days , but in what day exactly ?

A date for what exactly ? If you are replying to my post then I'am afraid I don't really know , I guess no one actually knows about the real date of the new forum software release date , Source code is open and available on Github so you can setup on your PC/server so you see how it looks like . It was expected to be on the last Feb but and as you can see there is nothing for now .
I was replying on that and 10x for response. Then we have to w8 4 it.

Will everyones rank start all over in the new forum?
No of course not , Activity , posts , Profile , all those important informations will be moved with the new forum . so you won't lose anything not your Activity and not your Rank , a Hero stays a Hero Member , a Senior stays a Senior member etc ..

I haven't been too active in the past few months, when did avatars become available again? That's pretty cool 
I was trying to search for this, but "search" seems to be temporarily disabled...
I know that is slightly off topic, but I think you need at least a certain rank, to be able to do an avatar, right?

avatars became available again 1 month ago i think.
yes you do need to be at least member or full member i think.
search became unavailable because of a hack that happened 2days ago. see bitcointalk twitter account
The avatars were re-enabled on April Fool's day so actually it was more like 2 months ago.

Yes but think that it would be great if they can add some rank between hero and legendary.
Funny how things change.
Originally there was no such thing as a legendary rank. Once a senior member graduated to a hero member, that was it.

i am wondering how will the ranks and activity be calculated on the new forum in development. that would be nice if we could have more details on the new forum. they made a section but its not active

Because I just hit 252 but I'am pretty sure my Rank was Senior member before hitting this Activity

I do not understand how activity is calculated . too much complicated for me 
Each activity period is about 14 days in length. For each activity period which you've posted in at least once, you can get up to 14 activity points.
During an activity period if you...
- Make 0 posts then you'll get 0 activity points
- Make 1 post then you'll get 1 activity point
- Make 7 posts then you'll get 7 activity points
- Make 14 posts then you'll get 14 activity points
- Make 21 posts and you'll get 14 activity points
Person A makes 7 posts in his first activity period and 14 posts in his second activity period:
He has posted in two activity periods. Therefore, his potential maximum activity is 14 x 2 = 28.
He has made 7 + 14 = 21 posts. Therefore, his real activity is 21.
His activity could be increased to 28 just by making 7 more posts.
Person B makes 21 posts in his first activity period and 0 posts in his second activity period:
He has posted in one activity period. Therefore, his potential maximum activity is 14 x 1 = 14.
He has made 21 + 0 = 21 posts. Therefore, his real activity is 14.
His activity cannot be increased any further.
Person C makes 1 post in his first activity period and 1 post in his second activity period:
He has posted in two activity periods. Therefore, his potential maximum activity is 14 x 2 = 28.
He has made 1 + 1 = 2 posts. Therefore, his real activity is 2.
His activity could be increased to 28 just by making 26 more posts.
A new activity period usually begins every second Tuesday and is the same for everyone across the entire board. It's not exactly 14 days in length since it's measured in seconds, but it's close enough.
Additional note: If person B made at least one post in his third activity period however, then his activity would suddenly increase to catch up with his post count. Since he would now have posted in two activity periods (the first one and the third one) rather than just one, he would be entitled to a potential maximum activity of 14*2 = 28 activity points.
Ok I understand , so every 2 weeks can I earn maximum 14 activity points?
Basically yes if you made 14 post in that period.
You will get same if you made more post in this 2 week period also you will get less if you made less.
