Again few things not answered above that I need to understand.
Activation's... how do you define them
1: On a single windows install, once in a while your computer contacts the Microsoft activation server to check itself, this is sometimes done through windows update. Would this mean that my activation number would increase by 1?
2: Someone above asked about 5 activation's and 1 PC or is 5 activation's that you can do what you like with. (e.g. Office with Two Users editing a file at once with the same number key)
3: VLK require you to reformat and start again?
4: If the activation's roll over, if i installed onto 5 computers (for a 5 activation VLK license?) would I just be prevented from installing the 6th time all would ALL the 5 computers need attention?
Let me answer all your questions.
1) The computer connects to the Microsoft activation server only once to activate the PC. Once activated, it will never ever contact the server unless and until you change the key and use another key.
2) 5 Activations means each key is given the ability to be used 5 times on different PC's or single PC reinstalls.
3) Well, it depends. It requires volume license edition of Windows or Office. Volume Edition is the same as Retail versions but uses Volume keys to activate.
4) Once the 5 activations are used up, the key gets exhausted. When you enter the key on the 6th PC, you get a warning that the key has been totally used up and then you will need to buy another key provided you need more activations.
Hope you got answers to all your questions.
