Sorry about reviving this thread, I had forgotten a new one was started. I would close this thread if I were a mod.

For those new, all information about this is spread out between the following topics, in order (do search):
>"Yes, but what if?"
>"Freecoiner.org" [newbies section]
>"Freecoiner.org" [project development section]

hahahaha.. I think the doughnut turned people off Tongue

I'd be interested, and will be keeping track of this, but unless investing on BTCJam counts as spending Bitcoins, I haven't spent any other than a small amount of mBTC trying out satoshidice and bitzino.  Even if it does count, I've only invested .471 BTC so far. Tongue

Tried to read resurrected thread and all I find is a dirty golden donut and some ideas but I still have no idea what Freecoiner is (or, was?) supposed to be. Am I right in assuming that this is a reference to Freemasonry?

Took me a while to track this topic down again. I've been out of it since I my job picked up mid-summer. How is freecoiner coming? The website is still a placeholder and nothing posted since July. After this week, I might have some time to offer my web skills.

Hey, I did that for fun, just grabbing the idea you posted. Wasn't even thinking you would use it Wink

For some reason, I love it, psy. Especially now that there's a subliminal B incorporated in it.

  • Possibly incorporate Steampunk elements to be reminiscent of a Victorian Bitcoin mining rig.
If you're still interested in this idea, here's a photo of a Victorian Bitcoin Mining Rig that's CC-BY licensed:

That is totally awesome! I have enough shit in my warehouses to build something like that, using old barn wood as the body. Sadly, I'm going to forego the steampunk design element for the logo for the time being in lieu of what psy has so kindly provided, but I have kept a copy of that image in a folder.

What is freecoiner again?

So much pressure! I now have to briefly describe what Freecoiner is all about.

Freecoiner is an exclusive, membership-based organization consisting of noblemen and hierarchs, where one becomes a member via an invite only.

Members will enjoy a myriad of benefits, one which is the ability to purchase products and services with Bitcoin, receiving no less than a 10% discount provided, of course, the proprietors are members of Freecoiner. All members will also be able to be the first to test, purchase, experience, etc., any new product or service that can be purchased with Bitcoin.

(I reserve the option of editing the above, for I'm making this shit up as I go along.)

ooh!
Well, seeing as I write for Bitcoin Magazine now and may well be writing for your exclusive magazine, I think I should have free membership Cheesy

I see I may have to forego the formal invite aspect during the development stage, letting it become a staple when Freecoiner is officially up and running.

Forgot about something. If you need hosting for the website, just ask.

Thanks, psy. I do know the back end of Hostgator rather well, coupled with Wordpress. But I may have to explore another option due to the nature of how I'm formulating Freecoiner in my mind.

Thanks, again, for the artwork. I do love how it came out.

Due to a mass of trolling, only established posters are able to post in non-newbie sections. You are considered "established" if you have spent 4 hours online and have made 5 posts.

If you have really good posts, you can post a request for preemptive whitelisting in the appropriate topic.

Also:
- You must have made one post in order to send PMs.
- You need 10 posts to put a link in your signature.

Note that it may take up to 10 minutes for your PM or posting permissions to be granted.

According to the above, I'll be free from Newbie in about 7 minutes. Let this be a lesson to all those who dread this rule. Your first post(s) speak volumes of your character and, believe you me, I've been referred to as a character.

Looks like we got ourselves a winner!

I think I'll just keep this design for awhile. We can always update the symbol/logo down the road if or when that's warranted.

Thank you so kindly, psy, for taking the time to do this. As promised, you'll be ranked accordingly, as well as those who have provided their valuable input.

Then only problem with your vertical inversion of the coin is that the perspective isn't right and looks odd lol
I did try that, but it didn't look good Wink

EDIT: New version

Look at how the world map resembles the B of Bitcoin Wink

Now that's interesting. I'm going to have do that version as follows.

If I kept it upside down like Phinn said it would overlap the hole or leave antartica overflowing the coin.
Had to put it like that so it would fit.

Ofcourse, others may do better. I only made it for fun.

Just my southern hemisphere bias. I liked it, but I do like to be on top once in a while.

After working on this for several hours, I finally came up with a solution to possibly improve upon psy's fine map.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7272/7536711800_a18b608e52.jpg

I can't believe how the two colors contrast so well. The yellow seems to be reminiscent of the sun, as if a new day is dawning, and the upside down world reflects disruption of the current global banking system.
