Its not final. Freewallet is a selective scam. They block accounts and demand documents and more documents hoping you will give up. With heavy pressure they will release your money. I think this is still the owner. Confirm this information. He is your target.

This website was supposed to behave this way from the beginning. Because they are giving you one excuse after another, they want to keep you busy and not return your funds at the end of it all. Because their activities are going on like this and their reputation in this forum their profile proves how big scammers they are. So everyone else will be aware of your current situation.

There is no doubt that this service is far from honest with its tactics, but do you think that a similar thing would not happen to you and that you are trying to withdraw from any online crypto wallet/exchange? Even those who do not ask for KYC today will freeze your account if you try to withdraw because it is in accordance with the AML directive (money laundering and terrorist financing) and all those who avoid it can be left without a license.

I use many exchange site as well as gambling site though I hate this type of exchange and/or gambling site as anything my account can be locked for any reason. I like only those which has private key to access my fund. Freewallet is such a wallet which has no access via private key so I don't like this. Have you got access of your fund, yet?

OP said he sent the coins to freewallet in 216. Back then, eth highest price was around $17, so the 17 eth he sent to freewallet were worth less than $290 (and probably even way less than that). Besides, the name of the service itself is a bit deceitful especially for newbies (just like blockchain.com).

OP, be cautious and do not trust random people especially newbies who will contact you telling you they can help or they know someone who can help!

Even though there are already so many complaints against this website, you are sending such a large amount of funds to this website which I am surprised to think. It took you 6 years to remember that you have almost $20 000 on an online wallet? I would be happy that this service exists at all and that you can hope that one day you will get back what belongs to you.

Far be it from me to defend this service, but irresponsible behavior leads to situations like this - do not use custodial service for long-term storage + not your private keys, not your coins. It may take 1 month, maybe a year, but it is even stupider to give up and leave that money to them.

That is over $17k worth of ether. Metamask wallets is a web wallet, that money is huge, it is better you get a hardware wallet like Trezor or Ledger Nano to have a cold wallet in a way your private key can not be leaked online which is safer, if provided that Freewallet give you your ether or if you have huge amount to hold.

You have used a wrong site which is a scam site. If you could ask about a good site or search on the forum then you could get the name/web link of a good site and now you were not been scammed, really sorry for your loss but I do not think that you would be able to recover the fund which has been scammed by the free wallet.

This wallet provider had problems with the richest man on earth (which is no small feat even in terms of the negative publicity they have received).
In general (at least for what I know), the service is not a scam, so it may be just a matter of time before they review your email change.
Indeed it could be interpreted as an attempt to confirm the real identity of the person behind the account!
Keep in mind that from the screen you entered you do not understand anything (other than the fact that you had a conversation with their support).

As already suggested, the best solution is always a custodial wallet that allows you to keep possession of your private keys and you don't have to share them with anyone else!

Not really the best wallet but it's a good one and one of the most used wallets. It's non custodial so you have full control over your coins.
But since we are talking about a lot of money here (~10 eth), you may want to consider buying a hardware wallet.

BTW, I know this won't change anything but just out of curiosity, why did you choose to store your coins on freewallet!?
