Monaco are still maintaining their really bad streak in the league. After Lorient, this time they lost to Lens 0-2 home. They just don't have really good performance against their opponents. They are having big problems on scoring and they are really weak in terms of defending. And still, they can't do anything about it to eradicate this big problem. They have a tough season which is waiting for them.

Monaco is now 19th place in the points table. They have managed to draw in only one of the three matches. And they has lost two matches. Lorient was not a strong opponent. However, Monaco has been defeated. Monaco's match strategy needs to change. Their ball possession is more than 70% in 3 matches. Yet they cannot score. Very bad strategy.

I'm totally agree with you. Their ball possession against Nantes was 75%. They only scored one goal. Monaco's ball possession against Lorient was 72%, they could not score a single goal. In the last match against Lens, Monac's ball possession was 71%. And they were not able to score. They have scored only one goal in 3 matches.

It's not just that they have more ball possession and less attack. Their defense is very weak. I say this because their opponent didn't have to attack too much to score. If we look at the match statistics, Nantes has only one on-target shot in the entire match. And they were able to score this one. Lorient managed to score a goal with only 3 on-target shots and in the last match Lens made only 2 on target shots, 2 goals were scored. Inexperienced goalkeeper and weak defense.

Messi will certainly play during the match against Reims next week but it's very unlikely that he will play against Clermont in 3 weeks because his national team Argentina has several matches scheduled at the beginning of September and it's the same for Neymar and Brazil, they will meet each other BTW.
Didn't pay attention to Argentina 3 games next month, 3-5-10 September which means that Clermont game in 12th September will be unfeasible for him tho.
Talking about Clermont, they managed to get a 3-3 draw vs Lyon! They are doing pretty well imo right now.

Yes but to be honest I doubt Messi is the player who needs a lot of time to get used to a new squad. He has Neymar, no doubt that will work right from the start, and he knows how players like Mbappe work on the pitch. There is nothing worse for a brilliant player to have newbies surrounding you not understanding the quality of your passing and the eye for the free space. I guess with the players I just mentioned that problem won't exist.
Yeah you are right, we will see them vs Reims next Sunday probably Wink

I just read an article that Pochettino wants to be particularly careful with Messi and he should not be expected full-time on the pitch for quite some time. Ramos is still injured and seems to be playing the diva in the club. Some employees were said to have already complaint about his star attitudes. To be honest though I can imagine they are right. Ramos can be an idiot. He expressed all kinds of special wishes and complains if he doesn't receive it immediately. I am curious how they all will be getting along and whether there will be arguments about penalties and free kicks within the game. Pochettino can be happy on the one side, but on the other side he has to really deliver now.

Monaco will play the next match against Troyes, which, after three played rounds, also has only one point. I think that if Monaco cannot make it to the main stage of the Champions League and additionally cannot defeat this opponent, then most likely the management will think about the resignation of the coach.

The Nice v Marseille match tomorrow can be fun I think. These teams both started with similar results (1 draw and 1 win). Especially Nice's victory against Lille with a 4-0 score was a surprising one. Marseille are disadvantageous here but I think that it is still hard for Nice to get a win here. So I think that both of these teams will score and the result might be a draw.

I think so too. My guess is a 2-2 draw. However, the OGC Nice team seems more likely to win. Because the opponents were not weak in the previous two matches of Nice. Strong enough opponents, on the other hand, Marseille's opponents were relatively weak. Moreover, it is the home match of Nice.

When will Messi join the squad? Donnarumma and Navas, one is going to be a big loser this season or they share the games like one plays in the Champions league and the other guy the Ligue 1. Both will be unsatisfied with such a solution though.

Could also be that it will still take some time before Messi joins as he got some extra time off I believe. It's time to see him join, not so much fun to watch without him playing.
I am not aware of any specific information regarding when Messi will join the squad in the field but I suppose he might play a part of the next game vs Reims then I am pretty sure he will play vs Clermont and Lyon! He has to get used a bit with the squad and the gameplay of PSG. They have just to announce that Messi is playing and electricity will shut during that game in France Tongue

Monaco got another loss this time against Lens 0-2. And they lost in their home stadium also. There have been three matches and Monaco still haven't got their first win of the season. This is really alarming for Monaco. They are playing way different comparing to the last season. They should immediately find the main problem and solve it as quick as possible. Otherwise, they are going to have a terrible season seemingly.

Maybe, they're not performing well because theyfeel intimidated by the kind of squad that PSG boosts of this season. PSG's second team is literally better that most if not all of the first team of other ligue 1 teams so it's very intimidating. But that might be far from Monaco's current season problems. I've recalled them being this bad few years ago but that was after they sold some of their top players. I don't know if it's the same case now since I didn't track their activities in the transfer window.

I don't think that the main reason is that they are intimated by PSG's squad quality. Because they had a similar squad in the last season also. I know that they have Messi now but he still hasn't even played in a game.

I think the reason is that there are in-team problems. And they still aren't able to make them go away. Unless they do so, there will be nothing changing.

Lyon are going to play a home match vs Clermont. It is tomorrow afternoon. Clermont have got 2 wins in 2 league matches so far. But Lyon couldn't get any win so far. They want to get the first one in this match. But their opponent is in-form. Hence, they will need to play extra careful. Normally, Lyon are a much better team than Clermont. They have sold Memphis Depay to Barcelona but they are still quite powerful. I expect them to win.

Messi has been with Barcelona for a long time, he will have trouble adapting to the new team. There are many differences between the strategy of Barcelona and the strategy of PSG. However, since Messi has played with Neymar before, I believe it will not take long for Messi to adapt to PSG. Moreover, all the players of PSG are experienced enough. It shouldn't be too much of a problem to adapt to such an experienced squad.
It will not be hard for a good player to get adaped, if Messi adapt, it is not because he has played with Neymar before in Barcelona, it is normal for players to adapt, players like Messi should give up to standard, but what I am thinking about is that he has never played before in any league or any club, he has been in Barcelona still his childhood, but I know he should be professional and good enough to play better in PSG or any other strong club, all I can say is for us to expect the best of Messi this season, we should expect the best of PSG.
Brest is a small team and this match is not really important for PSG so I think that Mauricio Pochettino doesn't need to use his super star players for this match. Moreover Lionel Messi would certainly want to make his debut with a good performance therefore he needs to be as trained as possible.

The match is definitely important. But Brest is the easy opponent. So even if PSG forms a slightly weaker squad, they will win. Because even though the squad is a bit weak, but this squad is capable of defeating any strong team. It is certain that Mbappe will be on the team. He alone can knock down Brest's defense.
Why do you say this match was important for PSG? I don't understand. As I said above Brest is small team and PSG doesn't care about them. They easily won the first half 2-1 with one goal from Ander Herrera and another from Kylian Mbappe and another time 2-1 the second half with one goal from Idrissa Gueye and one from Angel di Maria. It had been a very easy victory.

We didn't watch Messi playing in the Brest match also. But PSG still won 4-2 of course. Messi is expected to play in PSG's next match against Reims. As he is lacking match fitness, it is still unknown whether he will be able to play. If this goes on like this, we may even see Messi starting to play as of the Champions League group matches.

The amazing part is that they are still lacking so many players that they got, I think Wijnaldum is the only player they got that they are playing right now? I mean I do not think that we will really see anything that would be interesting right away from the first games that other players play too, so it is going to be a few months for us to see the big change with all those awesome players but they haven't even started.

There is a month for them all to get in and get in shape, which will be awesome. The fact that they are still dominating even before they started playing shows you how awesome they are. The only bad outcome right now would be if the team doesn't end up jelling well together, if they lose a lot of chemistry and they start playing bad then they will have to handle that very carefully because it will make or break this team.

For the second game in a row, Psg conceded two goals from not very strong teams.
Am not a PSG fan but am worried for them because if a team that is considered strong is failing to keep clean sheets against weaker teams, then what will happen will the face tougher opponents?? PSG needs to fix their defense asap!

Offensively, everything is in order, even in the absence of Messi and Neymar. .

I think we won't even notice the absence or presence of Messi because PSG is an attack minded team. I don't expect anything extraordinary from him Tongue
Indeed there was defensive mistakes so we shouldn't blame all on Navas but that's mean that Donnarumma will take his chance probably soon.
Messi will be crucial whenever PSG attack fails to score. There is many combination which will confuse opponents plan.
For the goals, I liked Gueye's one in particular although Di Maria which is good too is way popular in social media!
St-Etienne 1 - 1 Lille, what a failure..
