Bringing in Benzema might not be the best option for club's future, but I think Lyon shouldnt think about future for now. They need to concentrate on their current effort to escape relegation. Benzema could be a big help for their current situation with his experience, skill, familiarity and love for the club. His recent form is not too bad for a team that is fighting at the bottom of the table, but the risk of spending a significant amount on a player who might not meet expectations are valid concern, because it could cost their plan for future.

~snip~
There are two different opinions, Benzema is no longer useful because of his age. But there's also the opinion that if Benzema is still good he's just in the wrong team, because he can still be a good example for young players. Al Ittihad doesn't have good support for Benzema on the pitch either. So that he cannot be maximized. His stats aren't bad though. So if he goes to Lyon maybe he will be the solution or the problem is still difficult to know. When he was in Madrid he was in different conditions, so the best thing is the support of teammates and coaches.

With Madrid we both know he was never a problem to anyone and all he needed was his mates to pass him the ball so he could score and place the ball at the back of the net.

It doesn't sound right to say that he is no longer a useful player. Ronaldo at is age is a useful player mentally and physically to his environments and all over the world.  Benzema can also be that player it is not clear that not all player who move to Saudi Arabia will successfully make a good name after leaving European football.  Headed for his boyhood club will definitely be a dream come for karim benzema.

It seems like the bookmakers are favoring Lyon over Rennes and according to your predictions it seems confident that Lyon can win but from my prediction Rennes will win by a narrow score.
Even though the two clubs had previously met and Lyon was able to beat Rennes, for me Lyon's victory was like luck because in less than 10 minutes the Rennes defender got a red card so Lyon's opportunity to score was a little easier and in fact Lyon was only able to score 1 score.
I have the opinion that Lyon has not been able to maintain consistency and we can also see the previous match that Rennes is far superior and for me betting on the club that wins is very risky even though the odds are high but I prefer to bet on both clubs scoring.
It seems like why Lyon is favored against Rennes even though Rennes has a better ranking in the standings and the point difference between the two teams is quite far, namely six points, it's just a home factor because in terms of performance Rennes is better this season than Lyon, but Rennes' away game is quite bad because they only won once in eight away matches, and my prediction is that this will be a match that has a high chance of ending in a draw because Lyon will also find it difficult to get 3 points because they are quite bad at scoring goals, and if they can win it is likely to only be by one goal.
Lyon really needs a win to get out of the bottom three zone or at least get one point because by continuing to produce points in every match, even just one, it seems like it will be enough to keep them playing in Ligue 1 next season because they can avoid the relegation zone in the end of season.

Lyon vs Rennes

The loses from Le Havre makes Lyon have to ended their winning streak and after break today they will attempt to beat Rennes and return to the winning ways but Rennes also in the good shape because they were unbeatable in the last 5 matches in all competitions and the latest is Rennes can able to eliminate Marseille at France Cup and in Ligue 1 Rennes has successfully to beat strong team Nice so Rennes recent performance is much better compared to them

For squad update Enzo Le Fee will be doubtful to play but Benjamin Bourigeaud will be available today and this player was showing impressive performance in the last 2 matches with Rennes because he can scored 1 goal and make 1 assist and for Lyon Duje Caleta-Car will not be available in the squad because he got suspension and as usual Lyon still rely on Alexandre Lacazette for their front lines and according to the head to head statistics i can see both teams can beat each other but Lyon was successfully to improve their records from Rennes because they can win from Rennes 2 times streak and today too i think Lyon still able to resumes their good records from Rennes moreover as a host Lyon have more motivation to win and the odds for Lyon is @2.48

Lyon lost to Le Havre last week. And this makes them still in the relegation zone and that will be very dangerous for Lyon. I can't say enough about their performance and quality that they won't be relegated at the end of the season.
Lyon is one of the worst team on this league season because they are not really making any good impact on this season but instead they are moving from bad to worst, perhaps the club should endeavour to work on the team during the transfer window so that they will be able to come back next season with an encouraging performance  but although if they continue this way they may likely go to relegation this season.
Yes you are right, this season is going very bad for Lyon, the performance of Lyon in this season of League One is not to be found, they are now the 16th team in the league table. Lyon lost 3-1 to Le Harve in the last match. Today's match with Stade Rennais could be very difficult for Lyon as Stade Rennais are in great form. Stade Rennais won last match with Nice 2-0. But I think the match will be very competitive. Both teams to score looks likely to result in a draw.

It's not true. Benzema was still useful as long as there would be a team who trust him. He has moved to the saudi pro league caused by he was willing to play and enjoy his life but things are not going well since he has got so many burden there.
Benzema needs to leave from the club in short term and lyon was in talk with ittihad to bring him back to the french league. The problem if there are some big clubs from EPL interested to recruit him as well. The chance of him to play in lyon was quite small caused by this.

Chelsea and arsenal were also in talks with benzema's agent but no final decision has made by him while we are also getting even closer to the end of season. I hope benzema will be making his final decision.
The end of winter transfer season is even closer and the club has no time to complete his transfer. Benzema needs to decide it as soon as possible before it's too late. He needs to play out of saudi pro league.

I'm sure that without Benzema, Lyon won't be relegated because in their last few matches also Lyon have managed to get good results. Therefore, there is still a very good chance for Lyon to get out and stay away from the relegation zone in the second half of this season. But indeed, if Benzema were to return to Lyon then yes, it would be a great guarantee for Lyon to improve their quality and position in the Ligue 1 table and it's not just about staying away from the relegation zone. But yes, it seems like the big obstacle is that Lyon doesn't have a lot of money to be able to bring in and pay a big salary for Benzema and with that factor, I personally believe Benzema will not return to Lyon.

I can't say enough about their performance and quality that they won't be relegated at the end of the season. I think as long as they are still in the relegation zone then I can't say they will return to positive performance and improve the ranking. The next match is against Rennes and if they win then they will be out of the relegation zone temporarily.
After 3 consecutive wins they got, they lost again even though it was a pretty good momentum for Lyon to get out of the relegation zone.
But looking at the difference in points they have actually they can still get out of the zone it's just that their 2 matches will now be more difficult than imagined.

Their opponents for the next 2 weeks are Rennes and Marseille. Even if Rennes this season is a little different from them last season but they are a surprise club and they are one of the dark horses in my opinion as well as Marseille who are now in decline but they are one of the big clubs in Ligue 1 so this could be a little more difficult for Lyon.
If in the end they have problems in this match as much as possible it would be better to target a draw only because that would be very good for them because if this match is lost again then it is difficult for Lyon to regain momentum.

The problem is whether Benzema wants to play for Lyon or not. Benzema already has a very high salary for playing for Ittihad. And Lyon is a club that is currently slumping in the League. Bringing in a player like Benzema is a very profitable scenario for Lyon. But we know there are several factors that make it difficult for that to happen. So I think what Lyon should do is recruit another striker who can improve their quality a little on the front line. At least a little better than now.
Lyon have remained inconsistent in performance, Lyon has expressed interest in recruiting the Frenchman from Saudi Arabia, but given their current table position, it is likely to be an exhausting struggle because Karim Benzema is unlikely to move to a struggling team in the relegation zone. Before joining any club, be sure you're able to adapt to the system and don't generate decisions based on the current situation. Karim Benzema is a world-class top attacker who might achieve a lot at Al Ittihad, but he is having problems with the club, which is hampering his performance.
If we really think about Benzema, there is a star player, even though his productivity is no longer what it used to be, that doesn't mean that Lyon can easily get him even though they will be offered a big salary but it won't be enough to exceed the salary given by his current club.
Meanwhile, Benzema will definitely think in the long term regarding his reputation, whether he will accept an offer from a club that is currently in the relegation zone which will affect Benzema's reputation.
Another problem is that Lyon still won't be able to get Benzema because Ittihad will only loan this player to one side of the Premier League. This will certainly be Benzema's main goal because there his reputation will be better joining a club that is far from the relegation zone.

Even if you are right and Benzema is a superstar player and he had many achievements with Real Madrid when he was playing there, but still, the fact about Benzema is he is far from his good days and he can't be obviously a good option for any team. Even for Lyon, Lyon is currently not in a good situation and they can't take any risk while I think hiring Benzema and spending money for this player can cost a lot for Lyon and instead of him Lyon can take cheaper and better players.

Players of Benzema's age are actually very suitable to play in the Saudi Arabian League by enjoying a higher salary than moving to another team which generally may not be able to provide salaries like those given by Saudi Arabian clubs. Lyon currently needs younger players to increase their strength, instead of looking for old star players because I don't think that will help Lyon much to increase their strength to become better in Ligue1. Moreover, a star player like Benzema will definitely not immediately agree to move if his salary level is still quite low.
Playing for a  Saudi Arabian team for benzema will be just helping that league gain some necessary attention of which his fan base is capable of attracting such to them so it more like a promotional business because I don't see much relevance attached to any trophy that will be gotten their or the much impact it will add to his career.

It's rather going to just give what ever team he joins in the Saudi league an advantage of Fame and some fierceness amongst other teams in the league knowing the caliber of player that just joined such team just like in the case of cr7 but then I don't think it's in benzima's ideology to move to Saudi as at this time because he's earning really well where he is and even Lyon that's his next move destination isn't offering any less at the moment so it's more likely him been an asset to the team and helping them get back in good form.
I'm yet to access a news that is capable of explaining the main reason behind the recent uncertainties between Karim Benzema and his Saudi Arabian club Al Ittihad but what ever might be the issue of debate, I don't think it was a good move for Karim Benzema to leave the club this winter transfer window. He was signed to the club to help them stay competitive enough to challenge teams like Al Hilal and Al Nassr but he's actually failed to do that.

Leaving Al Ittihad this transfer window and going to Lyon might end up as the worst decision for the former five-time winner of the UEFA Champions League trophy and a one time Balon D'or winner because Lyon are very likely to finish season in the relegation zone of the French league table.

It's disgusting how Benzema behaves as a human being in many areas of life. He is full of disrespect for so many things in life and now that he tried to tune his financial situation, it turned out that he isn't good enough to support Al-Ittihad. But what is even worse is that Manchester United was considering a transfer, but thankfully they refused it since they said the 50 million salary is not acceptable. 50 million, and now he is jumping ship in Saudi Arabia. I think a player like him shouldn't be given another chance, but I guess he will find some place to still play, although not for 50 million a year. Maybe it will be a French club, but I wonder which one could consider signing him.

Rennes can be be seen as having almost same strength as Lyon as Rennes has in their last five games wom three and lost two just like Lyon who won two lost two and drew one, so going by that results it could be perceived that Lyon is even a bit stronger than Rennes but they they are far apart on the table.

A win or draw will get Lyon out of the temporary relegation zone this season as they are just a point away from getting out of the relegation zone on the table. The arrival of benzema can actually do a lot for Lyon especially helping them getting out of relegation this season with every good form a d been sure not to go below to the relegation again. I will love to see benzema at Lyon and hope to help them become a better team in the Ligue 1 and possibly help them be amongst top four team in the league even if not this season.

If Benzema is brought to PSG, I don't think he will get any new experience

New signings and putting the team in a dilemma of evicting and retaining one out of two options. When the situation happened with Ronaldo, it was said that it's cos of his influence, money and capacity. Now it's Benzema's turn, what will be said. For me I'd blame Saudi league because the teams are trying all their possible best to be recognized. Al-Nassr before Ronaldo joined weren't heard about...

The presence of players coming from European leagues helped Saudi teams a lot and made the league very attractive. In the Al-Ittihad case, the situation went the opposite since their rivals grow at the time they didn't improve and with the coach being sacked and tensions getting worse between the club and Benzema, it seems that they will get separate ways by the end of this winter transfer window. The only problem is which team could afford to take Benzema! I heard Manchester United refused to count on him since they couldn't afford him. I didn't see anything new about him and PSG or even Ligue 1 in general. There is talks about Carlo Ancelotti asking Real Madrid to take him back as a loan until the end of the season. There is Arsenal and Chelsea that might be interesting in adding him to their squad but as usual it remains just rumours that needs to be confirmed.

If Benzema is brought to PSG, I don't think he will get any new experience, whereas what we know is that without Benzema alone, PSG is certain to win the Ligue 1 title this season, so I don't think PSG will bring Benzema there either, even though PSG might need an additional striker. to help PSG play in the UCL, I find it difficult to think about it too, Benzema is more worthy of playing at a club in another league besides Ligue 1, perhaps he can get a lot of new experiences until he really retires from football. maybe that would be better.

But there is nothing wrong with your thinking, everyone has an opinion about Benzema being more worthy wherever they think, to be honest, I prefer playing in the English league or in the Italian league, of course I will get new experiences for him, in my opinion it makes more sense. Compared to him joining a club in Ligue 1, whether it's LYON or PSG, from what you think, I think maybe both of them are not very suitable for Benzema, but I'm happy to wait for updates about where he will play in the future, it all depends on his choice.  Grin

All of a sudden, they're talked about occasionally. It's rumoured that the league wants to secure a spot in the UEFA champions league and they shouldn't be blamed for doing all it takes to make meaning.

They'd rather do away with those that doesn't really matter and retain those that actually do matter. It's kind of life's lifestyle. No doubt every team there, if in that situation will do the same as Al Nassr had done or even worse. It's all for a purpose, I don't know but likely in the coming months, we should expect to see more of these occurrences.

There is no confirmation of the Benzema rumors so far, or I am the one who missed the latest information. however, I agree that even without Benzema, Lyon should be able to bounce back. at least for this season, they are safe from the relegation zone. next summer, if Lyon remains safe in Ligue 1. they can make big changes, evaluate them and then build a new, even better squad. apart from that, bringing in Benzema will definitely require large funds. and, there is no guarantee that Benzema will be able to lift Lyon and immediately perform better. this is a difficult phase for Lyon, where they must be able to survive, especially since Lyon is one of the big name clubs in Ligie 1.

In fact, Lyon's performance has started to improve in its last five matches. they experienced two matches with defeats and three matches with wins. even though the promotion team lost in the last match, Lyon won the last two matches in the Copa de Prance. So, it could be said that Lyon performed quite well in 6 matches in various competitions. 5 wins one loss. currently what Lyon needs is high motivation and enthusiasm that they will be able to get through this phase. this week, Lyon will host a match against Rennes. they must achieve 3 points playing at home, in order to restore the team's enthusiasm for the matches they will play next. As for Bemzema, I actually haven't received any new news regarding this player.

I think that's not a bad idea and he knew it was a good decision and that is why he went there. But sometimes, you can't just expect to hit 100% correct move, and what you think was a good idea, could turn out to be not a great idea. He just disliked the situation there, it could happen, it is not really that much of a shocker, it can happen.

Lyon getting Benzema wouldn't really be a bad idea, not that I think it would be possible, the amount of money it would take to get him there would be too high and Lyon doesn't have that kind of money, not only the team should be letting him go, but at the same time we are talking about Benzema asking for very little. I think the team will not let him go, so Lyon can't really afford him at the moment.

The Benzema-Lyon scenario sounds more like a fantasy than reality. Joining Lyon in its current state may be problematic for Benzema, who is still highly regarded despite his current form. Why would a top player join a poor team? It goes beyond money. Reputation and career prospects matter, and Lyon's current status is dire.

Lyon needs change focus. The little probability of obtaining Benzema seems pointless. They must be practical and find a striker who can boost their front line within their budget. They can find talent within their budget and status. Dreaming about Benzema is nice, but Lyon must confront reality.

this is not just Lyon's financial problem. If Lyon's current position in the standings is at least in the top 5. There is still a possibility that Benzema could consider coming to the team. regardless of the team's financial ability to bring in Benzema. Moreover, the Saudi club did not pay Benzema an easy price.
Lyon this season can focus on developing the team's game. At least they must be able to climb to the top 10 of the standings. if it's too difficult, at least they can try not to be relegated next season.
