This is 100% the end of bitcoin as we know it. Good thing too. This 'open source', 'no leadership', 'no organization' thing was always a load of bullshit.
However, there is merit to those words of 2016: bitcoin has since gone through a very hard time of late 2017 (with very high transaction fees caused by high demand caused by price increase) and for some reason that I don't understand it was not a wake-up call for its devs (?!)
