Well so I was thinking how would users feel if actually there was some kind of Voice translation writing mode here in the forum so as to aid those who are not too good at typing or expressing themselves very well through writing to actually speak out their thought and it gets written down correctly for them  Angry.
What you proposed has been there since. Well, I've it on my keyboard. I don't know if others have it on theirs. I admit that keyboards differ. Though I haven't used that in this forum, I do so on WhatsApp and that's when I'm tired. The sad thing I realized about using it is that it consumes my time instead of boosting it as it tends to pick wrong words for me in most cases. Perhaps it could be from my wrong pronunciation and accent of those words. So, I rather type at once than struggle to vocalize the words. It saves me time.

I sometimes use voice type message feature available on my keyboard app and combine it with grammarly to correct typo and grammar. It’s not translation app but it can help user to fix the grammar of his original thought.

I believe this feature is only possible through the use of AI but there's a discretion on using AI tools on our post. It's a gray area but it's really helpful for those local user that having trouble to communicate using English language.

Well it sounds like a good idea but right now I am using my Google Voice on the reply of this thread and whatever I said was written.

Well, what you said seems like a good idea, but I just tried to use my Google Voice translator to type, and as you can see, the first reply above was written down as I was talking. Is that not the kind of feature you want added to the forum?

Although the Google voice translator find, it is difficult to add punctuation to the statement. You can also see the screenshot I took while using the voice. I think anyone can use this, but they will have to carefully punctuate their statement.

Bruh, just use Google to do voice-to-text and copy from there, why ask for something that already exists? Even if bitcointalk were to implement such thing it wouldn't be on par with Google.

I think before anyone had the thought of joining this Forum or any platform that has to do with making use of your keyboard to pass out information you must have been good I mean very good in typing, making your communication skills to use.
I don't really know but I think OP is trying to say we should have an audio feature where we just record and send whatsoever we intend on sending, that's we don't get to read it but to hear it like the ones we do have in FB, Whatsapp and all that, that's what I pictured he was driving at but if that seems to be the case I don't think is ok to have such feature on this Forum.

Indeed a good feature but i highly doubt it will be added, maybe for a browser plugin for desktop users. As what mentioned it's called voice to text in android keyboards, it could be enabled for those who wants. But since i rarely use any voice command in my phone so i don't think i will use it anytime soon.

If the main purpose of using voice typing is to improvement in the speed of posting, then I am afraid it is not the right method. It may even take more time to first voice type a post and then do all the spell checks and rectify grammatical mistakes.

I agree that with voice typing the speed of posting will further slow down. The voice tying may help those members who are lazy enough to write the posts themselves using their fingers, but I don't think that someone can express his/her ideas very well with the help of voice typing. You'll still be reading the forum posts as a text based posts and with the voice typing you'll be replying to those posts with your voice which will limit your imagination that you can have with traditional way of typing.

Voice typing can be  useful for those people who have severe muscle and joint problems but the ones who are healthy will become more lazy because of voice typing. I also agree with you that the ones who will use voice typing will have more spelling and grammatical mistakes, and then they'll have to fix those mistakes one by one, and which will be very time consuming task for them.

We never know that many posters may already be using this voice typing feature present inside the browser as we see a lot of posts with grammatical mistakes and lot of other posts with spelling mistakes.
Also if you are using a mobile to make a post, voice typing becomes even more easier, but again the drawbacks of voice typing do exist.

Yes, there could be some posters who might be using voice typing if they're basically smartphone users but the posts with grammatical mistakes and other spelling mistakes can be because of other reasons as well. Some users who aren't good in English may have grammatical mistakes and spelling mistakes in their posts, and there could also be those users who want to write their posts as soon as possible, and post it without giving it a reading. I personally don't post using my smartphone because I don't like that way of posting as of now, but still sometimes I make grammatical mistakes. I believe those mistakes take place only when we don't read our written posts. The worst thing is that the ones who will make posts using voice typing will make far more grammatical and spelling mistakes then the ones who aren't good in English.

No it is not. You assume that we all use mobile iOS/Android platforms or have speech recognition capabilities in our operating systems, which is not true.

I agree with you that we all don't use iOS and Android or even smartphones that have those capabilities. If I'm not wrong then most members of the forum still type their posts using their own personal computer or laptops and those systems don't really have such capabilities built it them. The pc users will have to use external microphones in order to utilize voice typing extensions or applications, while the laptop users may get a little bit of ease because the laptops have built in microphones. But, still they will have to rely on third party software, extensions, and websites in order to utilize voice typing.

Voice translation?
You mean like it's for those who don't like typing or can't type at all? I mean the handicapped people I'm asking about. If yes, then it's really a great initiative in order to let everyone become a part of this forum and express their views openly. However, if it's for those who don't know English and want to first translate their language to English and then write, then I believe that even after trying their best to get their general views be expressed correctly, the translator will definitely make some mistakes and the person who doesn't understand English very well, won't even know where did he go wrong.

If you are not good at expressing yourself in writing, then you may not also be able good expressing yourself in speaking. If you are not good with writing or too tired to write, there's are "speech to text" applications that you can make use of to help write down words as you dictate to it, or you just take rest from the forum. You must not post everyday.  But for such a feature, it may be hard to implement and may not work 100% due to difference in accents that can make some words sound differently, and how very poor some people's speaking skills are. The feature will not be able to recognize or make anything meaningful from what they say.

This feature is already available for mobile users. G board give you this feature anywhere in the browser. you can directly translate also(speak in one language and written in other) but problem is this idea is not working properly as many words are not written properly and we have to correct the error after writing. Punctuations are also not added at right place. we have to check our whole sentence for mistake which will take time. At short we will not get what we think (type faster)so why not write himself.

If posters can use voice recorder to convert their speaking to posts, spammers will make more shit posts. Their posts will be more broken in English because speaking, on top of it, will need less time for organizing your idea, words, grammar (no grammar checking with voice posting).

By writing, shit posters already make many posts that have many grammar errors and incoherent sentences. With speaking, it only become worse and I don't imagine I will spend my time to read those Voice-recording-converting posts.

Shit posters if using voice-recording-converting-posting applications, will not have time and be laborious to check their posts before pasting content here.

If any forum members have any defaults in their typing hands
It's "faults" just to be clear--and I swear as I get older I think I'm going to become one of those people whose fingers are so gnarled up with arthritis that they need a voice-to-text machine in order to write things on a computer.  Lol.  Not kidding.

Why would bitcointalk have to implement a feature like this?  I don't know what's out there as far as translation software/apps/whatever, but if there was a program that let you speak Spanish (for example) and have the written text translated into English, you could have it done up into a standard text document and then copy/paste it into a post, no?

Frankly I would have no problem with members doing this as long as the translation is good.  People have been using shit like Google translate for years to make posts here, with some horrifying results--and to try to obfuscate plagiarism, too.  Maybe if AI gets advanced enough, quickly enough, members who can't speak a lick of English can be writing profound statements about bitcoin in impeccable English, and nobody would be able to tell that they had a little bit of....help.

Then again, the rule of the forum is: whatever can be abused by a bunch of shitposters will be abused beyond anyone's imagination.

Jolly? I think I've heard that name before. hmm
Besides everything, OP, you put on a signature; what should managers do in this case? Voice post?

Hahaha....If that happens, there may be a rule from the campaign manager that a certain number of minutes must be recorded, and the manager must listen to each voice in multiple languages to see whether the recording is on topic or not. I didn't imagine anything like that and there aren't many tools for analyzing sound recordings

Maybe it's a good idea to torture the campaign managers...  Grin Grin

If what you're referring to is the implementation of "voice dictation,"[1] the best approach, in my opinion, is still to keep it separate between this forum and the application. The spoken word's intonation can sometimes be unclear for the microphone to capture accurately, ultimately leading you to re-edit your text to ensure there are no typos.

I've used this feature before when my keyboard was slightly damaged and uncomfortable to use for typing.

In theory, writing is easier than speaking, so if someone has difficulty conveying through words then ideally it will be more difficult for him to convey through voice. So, I'm not sure that a proposal like this is effective, especially if during the discussion someone is typing and someone is recording their voice, it will look chaotic. In addition, it is more difficult if someone does not understand English, translating voice is more difficult than translating text

What's more, this is a web forum so ideally it's still written, if it's via voice it might be like a podcast

I immediately thought of this. How can you express your thoughts if you cannot formulate them by typing? A lot of unnecessary words, like...damn, uh, in short... This is called water. A good post is good because it is written correctly, does not contain unnecessary words, and, on the contrary, has meaningful value. Besides everything, OP, you put on a signature; what should managers do in this case? Voice post?

Unnecessary feature to implement on Bitcointalk or any other online forum itself; as people have mentioned: it makes a lot more sense to have this feature implemented either on your keyboard app, your browser app, or through a browser plugin/extension as for it to be usable for all social media.

For this to be integrated there should be an existing Modification software existing, can be modified on the script without harming or creating a bug in the forum, if it will benefit the majority of the forum and Theymos agreed to put that, if not the only chance is from outside source.

Although I know it's a crazy idea but still it's a free community so I decided to speak out to see how many people actually have similar thoughts on the idea although I have a feeling I would be criticise on this but it's worth throwing the question out there. Lol
Not really a crazy idea, for developers anything is possible, curiosity is the mother of creation.

Yo, been afraid of expressing yourself simply because you are avoiding backlash or criticism on a public space such as this is quite a funny thought to have. What's the worst that can happen? assuming you get roasted for airing your views on here, that's where it ends. that's one of the perks to anonymity We are in a forum where there's freedom of speech and so what if he gets lashed? He grows a thick skin. Besides, it's not every posts that receives such attack.
It's a good idea or suggestion the Op brought up, but I doubt Theymos will be bothered to implement such a feature since such can be found on our keyboards, right?

I do not think we face any such issue on this forum. You can post any idea/suggestion and people will respond to it in a quite nice way.
I haven't seen people make fun of anyone even if he or she asks a very basic question etc.  Yeah, but if you try to be smart and try to scam people then no one will spare you.

Enabling this feature should be done on the client side, not the forum side. Any client application (in this case, a web browser) can support this feature depending on the platform. And I am willing to bet that there are already many browser extensions or virtual keyboards available with speech-to-text functionality. However, I am not sure how good they are and how effective they would be for forum use.

The voice typing feature is already available in your browser and you can easily use it. It has been explained in the above post too. However, as per my experience, you cannot fully trust voice typing because many times it will understand the wrong word and therefore type in the wrong word. You need to manually check the voice written post before you can actually post it.
