If i should give you the benefit of the doubt and assume this is the only account you have here on Bitcointalk, then i would like to ask you why you choose such a username? unfortunately, usernames cannot be edited or changed.

Somehow I think your idea can still be considered as something good to support other users' ratings, but I doubt its success rate. Although actually you have a number of rules and limitations, but I think your hand should be stronger than the hands of other users. I mean you are not a merit source and it will make it difficult for you to appreciate other users' posts because you only get 1 sMerit out of 2 merit you receive from other members.

Even if you rely on merit source to specifically review those users without sending a link to their post, then it will just waste a lot of time for them. I'm sure many of them won't bother to do it, but I actually support your idea. Just my two cents.

Why is this needed? This rank will be able to get units. Such users, who have 5000 merits + 5000 activities, are already known to everyone on this forum and their nicknames are on everyone's lips. If theymos asks me if need to introduce a new rank, I will definitely answer No (as long as I have something to strive for). Grin

Even though there are already several similar topics like this one, I think creating a topic [FUN][In Merit] Post Count Down To Your Next Rank Here] would not be superfluous at all. The rest, like [Merit] ]Help newbies and those who have a little left to the next rank, are almost inactive, which, in my opinion, is bad. On forum should be able to receive additional merits, when users are just a little bit up to a new rank.

@Ratimov Didn't accept new applications for the last four months. There was a lot of Drama with Ratimov. He has been accused of being a Merit whore by BitcoinGirl.club. Other Merit sources also criticized him countless times for sending merits to newbies. He is one of the Merit sources who sent most merits to banned users. So, I guess he is a bit depressed. He didn't close the thread yet. But, I guess he is not going to accept new applications. Better not to suggest his thread anymore.

I'm not sure that's what this thread is all about, but I wouldn't doubt it. But assuming it's not, there's already the ranking-up pipeline thread that's active and helps to guide merit sources as far as who they might want to help out next--and that's already been mentioned a few times here already.

And me? I'm exactly an infinite number of merits away from my next rank, seeing as how Legendary is the end of the road. It's too bad there aren't more ranks, because I think if there were maybe 15-20 of them, members would be gratified a little more often for their hard work and effort. Going from Newbie to Full Member already takes massive commitment, luck, and the generosity of merit-givers, as well as a lot of time to achieve. If the 15-20 ranks (or more) that I mentioned were spread out over maybe a 2500 merit requirement, it might make the ranking up process more fun.

If they like, why not?, like I've said before, this is majorly a count down to your next rank thread, something fun like, if you are a full member needing 110 merit to rank up to senior member, you can post a count down of 110 merits, and as you earn merit around the forum, you can always come around here to edit your count down post by bringing 110 down according to the number of Merit you've earned in the past seconds, minutes, hours or days or weeks, just like that until 110 becomes 0, this means you've earned 110 merit and now a Senior member.

The topic did not belong in meta and it has correctly being moved, but it didn't belong to meta for any of the reasons you said, merit sources can't be exploited, merit sources are refilled with smerits so they can give them to members of the forum to rank up, they have no other use of the smerits but to give them out so members can rank up, if they do not give them out, it is wasted after thirty days. Merit sources won't also send merits to a member or their posts without reading it, or checking the history to find out if it is in line with their criteria.

There are lots of thread made the same like this, i say the same intension. So, i say it's somewhat necessary but it's just that you dont need this as per i understand.

Also, yeah, this thread doesnt suit here meta, but exploiting merit from merit sources? I guess no, those sources are somewhat have their own standards which is probably higher than most of normal users here.

Signature campaign manager wont count the kind of post like application/countdown post like what OP wants to post. They at least have minimum number of characters to be counted.

These are big merit lags and you see merit sources could help you to reach next rank if you are having little amount of merits only but suppose if a full member is having 110 merits so he still have 140 merits left so will they be dropping out such numbers at once? The merits will be send on quality based only and sometimes the members has left few left so that can be helped by sources but not these numbers.Those who are quality posters think they are unnoticed they can post their threads here

OP, very nice and interesting initiative and I am ready to support it with my available merits.
I will review all members' applications, their post history on the forum and reward posts that I consider to be of good quality, with merit.
I opened a similar topic on my local part of the forum, and in that topic all local members can also report their good posts and those that are of good quality I reward with merit.
I'm ready to do the same here Grin

Yeah, I know this, I decide not to set a limit in other not to limit those with higher number of Merit(s) left for the next rank, since the required merits for next rank doesn't necessarily have to come from one user or source, so anybody with maybe 500, 200 100 merits left for their next rank are also qualified to post a count down to their next rank.
