Even though Crypto has been around for some years now it's still a fairly new technology yet to really be adopted by the mainstream. So when looking at crypto in general especially alts I always try to think of use case as much as I think of growth potential. People get caught up in Bitcoins commercial use or lack there of and often seem to forget about Bitcoins primary function which IMO is simply as a symbolic abassador for the state of crypto and digital store of value. Alts IMO will assume the more functional real world applications of crypto, so that being said alts have huge potential. So here are my top picks for gain, growth and application.

1. Spectrecoin, Xspec  Spectrecoin - is a privacy coin that uses POS as opposed to POW to support it's network. With its tech it is among one of the few truly private privacy coins out there. It has a functioning product and strong team behind it that is continuing to push the coin forward. If successful with their roadmap Spectrecoin could be at the head of the privacy class by 2019. This would push Spectrecoin into the limelight/ mainstream and the coin would see tremendous gains being a small cap. So at a price of around .29 cents currently we could be looking at a value of $10 or more come 2019. This is not that far fetched as Spectrecoin already achieved an ATH of $6 in 2017 during the last crypto bull run with less resources and development behind it. This is definitely a coin to keep in mind if your looking for a solid return on your investment. As always patience is needed if you jump aboard.

2. Cardano, ADA - I'm not sure how sustainable blockchain is for the future and I could foresee a world where blockchain's tech is actually obsolete except for maybe bitcoin (being a symbolic store value) DAG technology may win out and if this happens expect Cardano to be a major player in the DAG revolution. The team behind Cardano is taking an excellent approach by excessively peer reviewing their work and constantly trying to streamline things. real world applications for Cardano are very limited as of now but a series of ADA ATMS are set for release in Japan relatively soon. When this happens expect the price of Cardano to skyrocket. At a current price of around 0.08 cents and former all time high of 1.25 I'd expect you'd see a good return in the next 2 years by investing in Cardano which I expect will hit 5.00 by 2020.

3. Banca, Banca - Banca is a new type of an investment bank community built on blockchain technology. It’s based on AI and an expert system which is used to create a platform to help inform investors or potential investors about potential crypto risks or opportunities. The cool thing about Banca is it offers a functional product, is a fairly new crypto currency, and has a strong team behind it. There is alot of room for growth here since Banca is still very young so investing now is almost equivalent to getting in on the ground floor. it is a large supply coin and is currently worth 0.0003651 but by 2020 I could see it hitting 0.02 cents. Thats not a bad return if you buy a cheap million Banca today.

Well, I'm old enough to remember the dot.com boom of the 90's when there were literally thousands of companies easily raising money from investors. People threw huge amounts of money at anyone that stated they were a dot.com project.
This is a very similar time.
Right now there are 1,878 coins and tokens (thanks to eth) on coinmarketcap and new ones almost every day.

Coins with a purpose will survive.....but it will take a few more years to shake things out.

My favs (with link in project name).....

wagerr - market= gambling coin -  Been out over a year now, bumps along the way ...tested well in WorldCup with NFL season coming up.  Value has held well through the downslide of 2018.

Spectrecoin - market= privacy coin users - Two year birthday of coin release coming Jan 2017, project manager was away for between June 2017 and March 2018 (health)....came back in March 2018 and got things really moving with a vengeance. Way undervalued, previous ath was $6 in Jan 2018.

chbt/wbb - market= enterprise blockchain for shipping, insurance, medical &legal Been out several years, was wildbeastblock, very under the radar....more so after the dev pulled out of exchanges considered them a distraction. Has everything working, including his own exchange, currently has customers and will go public very soon. Watch this one.

I do own others short term or a little longer....ravencoin, aro, block and such......
sort them out along as they do....or not do

I know everyone here has favorites and their reasons for being involved with any project. My advice is chose many and watch at least weekly for progress.

disclaimer - I should state that I am the Community Manager for Spectrecoin since June 2017 and an original investor from the project's November 2016 initial coin offering.

newbie account as my "Legendary" account was compromised here and so far not recovered.

Everybody sees altcoins go to zero in the end. It will happen since everyone agrees, amrite?  Grin

Well seriously speaking, not fully, though I almost agree on this with you.
I have seen many altcoin projects going to dust which once where in limelight and trading high.

People forget that market goes in Cycles

Before it was - NEXT BIG ALTCOIN, now - we are discussing if ALTCOINs would ever live.

1) They W-I-L-L live
2) Future is for those altcoins who solve a particulair human need and which market proposition is easily understood by people who are not familiar with it

I am myself invested in Spectrecoin

Why?

It is promissed to invent around Q1 2019 a new algorithm, Proof-of-Stealth, where you have your balance on a stealth address, totaly anonymously while staking it receiving rewards. How cool is that. Easy, yet not done before.

Do your research and find yourself gems, Gents  Smiley

Altcoins are going to STAY and for a reason
I have done my own research, and totally agree with your conclusion.  If I had some fiat, I would be bullish on Spectrecoin.  Sadly, I don't, so I will just hodl what I already have (with a little extra from staking rewards).

The people who bought bitcoins in 2013 are now rich. Even if today the price fell three times from the highs. As my investment, I chose Spectrecoin too. the project has a serious future as one of the leading anonymous crypto currency on the market. The project is young and promising, with a strong team and a clear goal. Therefore I put my bitcoins in there, while the coins have a low price

Yes of course altcoins have a future within the cryyptocurrency ecosystem. It's just about picking the right ones to invest in. Ask yourself these following questions before investing in any project.

1. How strong is the team?
2. Does the project have sufficient funding?
3. Does the project have a big community?
4. What does the roadmap look like and have they been hitting their goals?
5. Does the coin/token have real world use?
6. What is the coins marketcap? Is there a lot of growth potential?

My favorite coins are

1. Spectrecoin
2. Nuls
3. Kyber network
4. Ark

I have chosen these coins because they have smaller marketcaps. These 4 projects have plenty of potential and a big future ahead of them.

In my opinion what will happen to altcoins is that it will evolve further and it will stamp out all of the nasty things we are experiencing now like scams and dead coins and bad bounties. I will only become much more exciting and challenging for us to face the future with cryptocurrencies.

Ethereum is my favorite altcoin, I invest in altcoin only on ethereum, I see ethereum has great potential compared to other altcoins. Even though ethereum has fallen so deeply, but I'm sure ethereum can rise again.

I invest my money in Spectracoin (XSPEC).
This project has a small market capitalization due to a lack of marketing, but as we know, the start-up of the company for public relations is very simple.
The conclusion is simple, buy now and keep.

I agree. Me too!  Wink

When a lot of negative news about crypto's future certainly makes a lot of people panic, this is what makes them sell crypto at a low price or cut loss, whereas with patience we will get a big profit, rest assured that the market will recover soon.

There were now many useless projects. There is a lot of them as stars in the sky. Therefore it seems that everything has died. There is very few projector which seriously are engaged in business. Time for them very favorable now.

In any case, we will first see a large increase in bitcoin and then all the other altcoins, unless of course this happens in the future.

I'm totally agree with what you said. This was what was known as the survival of the fittest. But as for which coins that will survive to the end, i think this answer may only be known by Jesus.

Just stay the most stable, and the pumps will fail. On the one hand it's good that you can safely keep coins for a long time and do not spray on day trading.
